Each week we chat up bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite pit stories and tales from live shows. This week's story of alcohol induced mayhem comes courtesy of Dead Horse Trauma, which recently released the new album "Tellus Hodiernus Caducus" (reviewed here). Below is vocalist Eric Davidson's retelling of a fan's run in with the police at a show in Fargo.
First thing that comes to mind was a show at The Nestor Tavern in Fargo, ND. We didn't know it at the time, but we were having some really uncomfortable conversations with this shady drunk guy, who had minutes before stabbed his roommate for taking his liquor. I didn't notice the blood on his shirt while he was talking to me, but my band mates saw it. Cops were swarming the house next to the venue, and eventually this guy ended up getting slammed against the back of our RV and arrested. Made for some sweet footage that we used on our video for "No Recollection."
Check back again next Tuesday as we continue to share more pit stories from metal fans and musicians.
Three years after the release "Tératologie," the French act Eths has now entered the studio and is hard at work on a new album. The band commented on the recording sessions:
"Hey! We are currently in the studio, recording our third album. We are having a lot of fun playing those new songs, which we can't wait to share with you, especially on stage!
"On other news, we are happy to announce that our original drummer Guillaume is back in the fold. More news soon!"
Eths' forthcoming full-length, which title is yet to be announced, will hit the stores in the first quarter of 2012 through Season of Mist. Further details on the release will be announced as they are made available from the band.
Panopticon360 has posted panoramic, 360 degree footage of a live Tombs concert at St. Vitus in Brooklyn. You can check out the clip below with the songs "Vermillion" and "Path of Totality."
"Path Of Totality," the follow-up to the band's "Winter Hours" release, was recorded at Elmwood Recording studios in Dallas, TX with engineer John Congleton (Baroness, Explosions in the Sky) and was released in June.
Belgian death metal lunatics Aborted recently finished recording their upcoming seventh studio album, "Global Flatline," which is due out January 23rd in Europe and January 24th in North America. In anticipation of the album's release, the band is now giving fans a horrific preview of "Global Flatline" with a new teaser trailer. Check out your first bloodied taste of the new Aborted in the player below.
"Global Flatline" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by the renowned Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark, and it features several guest vocalists, including Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder), Julien Truchan (Benighted), Jason Netherton (Misery Index), and Keiijo Niinima (Rotten Sound).
Aborted will also release a digital single of the title track "Global Flatline" on October 24th in Europe and October 25th in North America, so stay tuned for even more new material from the band coming soon.
"Nine Paths," the fourth album from Dutch band Knight Area, will be released on October 25th, 2011. A track off the album, titled "Summerland," is now available for streaming through Prog Archives at this location.
Guitarist Mark Vermule commented on the track: "Summerland is the first track of the new album we recorded. We were full of energy and ready to record, and you can hear it. We played it live on several occasions and received good feedback on this song. The drums, bass guitar and guitar create this wall, and Mark really uses that energy in his vocals. Still, it's Knight Area with some good melodies; some parts where we take a step back, and at the end kick in with this climax guitar solo. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do."
The track listing is as follows:
1. Ever Since You Killed Me
3. Please Come Home
5. The River
6. Pride and Joy
7. The Balance
9. Angel's Call

As was previously announced, Periphery will be touring as direct support to the legendary Dream Theater throughout Europe from January 23rd through February 26th. Today the band members announced that they will play two headlining shows amidst those dates. Brussels, Belgium, and Prague, Czech Republic, have been added to the band's schedule.
Following the "Frak The Gods" North American tour, the group has now officially announce its newest member Mark Holcomb (he had a project with Misha Mansoor called Haunted Shores and filled in on the "Frak The Gods" tour) on guitars.
Misha Mansoor states: "We are happy to announce that Mark Holcomb (Haunted Shores) will be joining the Periphery ranks as a full time guitarist! He toured with with us our headlining run of Australia, our Frak The Gods US headliner and our 2 shows opening for Dream Theater, and we feel that we have found a perfect fit for us both live and in the studio. We are extremely excited to have him on board, and cant wait to show you all the cool new music we have been working on together! Since we made arrangements for the tour before Mark was inducted, our good friend Nolly (Red Seas Fire) will be filling in on the European tour opening for Dream Theater. However that will be the last tour we do with a fill-in guitarist, as Mark will join on full time after that!"
Thomas Murphy (bass) adds: "The most important thing about a band is the chemistry between its members. We've all known Mark for years and are very proud to announce him as our newest member. Not only is he an amazing writer and guitarist, but also an amazing person. We can't wait to see what the future holds for the band now that he has joined."
Mark Holcomb further comments: "I couldn't be more excited as not only have these guys been great friends of mine for a long time, but I consider every last one of them musical siblings in a sense. Each of us brings something different to the table and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish."
Periphery has the following upcoming tour dates: More...
Justin K. Broadrick, the founder of industrial metal legends Godflesh amongst many other groups, has been confirmed by the organisers of the Netherlands' Roadburn festival as the Artist In Residence, meaning he will perform a different set each day at the event. He will begin as White Static Demon vs JK Flesh on Thursday, April 12 at the Midi Theatre. That is Broadrick’s power electronics project followed by JK Flesh, his heavy electronic based project which encompasses dissonant textures coupled with post hip hop/dubstep/drum and bass stylings.
On Friday, April 13th, Justin will perform as Final. Initially started as a two-piece punk band with a drummachine in 1982, the group recorded its first demo when Broadrick was thirteen years old. The project developed to embrace electronics and dark ambient throughout the years. Justin revived Final by himself in 1993.
Broadrick’s residency will lead into his main project, Jesu, performing on Saturday, April 14th. Named after the last song on the final Godflesh release (Hymns), Jesu (i.e. Broadrick) quickly got established as one of the seminal post-rock pioneers. Since the release of 2006’s Silver EP, which gained comparisons to My Bloody Valentine or Slowdive, Broadrick’s sound evolved further into pop and indie sounds, while maintaining the claustrophobic sonic density his work is renowned for.

In a recent interview with RockMusicStar.com's John Jeffrey, Ratt drummer Bobby Blotzer revealed that the group is currently writing material for a new album, which will be released next year. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:
Q: Let's talk about Ratt. Is the same lineup still together, which recorded the last record, Infestation?
A: "Yes. And that record turned out amazing. It was critically acclaimed around the world. And on the charts here in America, it made it to #30. We also got a couple Grammy nods. So we were very excited and weren't expecting that to happen. So right now, we're in writing mode. And looking at a spring release and summer tour. That's generally what everybody does. Hopefully we'll wind up touring longer than last time, and at least do 6 months."
Q: It's good to hear there will be another new Ratt CD, as fans really loved Infestation. Unlike so many other bands who've done 'comeback' or 'reunion records', Infestation delivered the goods, and really sounds like the band that people remember.
A: "We weren't even writing that record, trying to cop that vibe. We were just individually writing and collectively taking each other's songs, and then putting our own individuality into our own songs. And they just came out sounding like a record that would have fit in between Out Of The Cellar and Invasion Of Your Privacy, respectively. It was a trip to see how everyone gravitated towards that record."

"In connection with press reports about Adam Darski's behavior during a recent Warsaw club concert... his provocative behavior showed a lack of respect for religious convictions, as well as for the sick and handicapped," Polish TV's president, Juliusz Braun, said on 13 October.
The incident Braun is refering to is a recent concert in Warsaw, Poland, where Darski dressed up as a priest and pretended to cure a handicapped person.

As it's fifth studio album "One For Sorrow" drops in the U.S. today, melodic death metal band Insomnium has a lot to reflect upon.
