Gwar to Appear on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"

Gwar will appear for the second straight year on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" on Thursday October 27th. The group performs as part of its "Return of the World Maggot" tour, which begins next week.

Oderus Urungus spews,"We are overjoyed that Jimmy had the good sense to invite us back, as we had planned to return anyway. Now Fallon can do the show with his head still attached to his body."

Oderus had this to say about the upcoming slaughter-fest - "Ever since we acquired a Skumship (GWAR's intergalactic war-barge), we have had to spend more time off-planet, you know, killing stuff, so we couldn't visit as many shit-hole clubs as we would normally. That means all you GWAR bohabs will have to show your devotion by driving endless miles in dangerous vehicles just so you can be ripped into shreds and have your girlfriend devoured by a giant worm."

In other news, Gwar has announced Jamison Land, a musician from Louisville, as new bass player/gladiator, Beefcake the Mighty. Land comes to Gwar from the punk group The Burial.

Hour Of Penance To Record New Album

Italian death metal act Hour of Penance will enter Cellar Studio in Rome with producer Stefano Morabito on October 16th to record the band's Prosthetic Records debut, and fifth album overall.

Guitar player Giulio Moschini commented: "Following the tradition of releasing an album every two years, the time has come now and we're ready to hit the studio and record our fifth album. You've probably read the same words million of times on band's press releases so I will not tell you how much better this album sounds and how much faster and more technical it is compared to the last one we did -- but we're fucking proud of this upcoming beast, and we're sure you guys will love it! We know how much our fans are expecting from the new album, so we worked as hard as we could to not disappoint any of them. Moreover, as some of you know, this will be the first album with a new lineup, and as you can imagine having a new singer and a new drummer helped us to renew and improve our sound once again. This will be like the rebirth of Hour of Penance!"

The band will be posting updates on its official Facebook page at this location. The new album is the follow up to last year's "Paradogma" (on Unique Leader) and will see a release in early 2012. More details regarding the release will be announced in the coming weeks.

Megaton Leviathan Issues Tour Recap

Portland, Oregon doom-gazers Megaton Leviathan recently wrapped up a tour with black metal goliaths Wolves In The Throne Room. The band joined Wolves midway through the Celestial Lineage Tour and sullied 11 unsuspecting cities. Check out fan-filmed footage from the band’s Nashville performance below. Megaton Leviathan also recently reissued the band's 2009 demo on limited-edition vinyl through its own Volatile Rock Records.

Commented vocalist/guitarist Andrew Costa: “Upon returning home our only complaint is that it was too short a trip. It was a singular experience to share the stage with Wolves In The Throne Room, shaping our shared vision in the often tiny, overcrowded and sweaty spaces. We send our deepest thanks and appreciation to all those who came out and sweated with us all over the Southeast and South. Back on the Pacific Northwest, the cool fall mornings have set in and the rain returned. We are already hard at work on writing some new material that reflects out recent experiences and explorations and plotting our next return to the road, be on the lookout.”

Gwydion In The Studio Recording New Album

Portugese metal act Gwydion has checked in with the following announcement about entering the studio and record a new album:

"Cheers my friends! It has been a while since you got news from our camp! First of all we are overwhelmed by the huge success of our latest release Horn Triskelion, and we raise our horns to all of you Beerzerkers that made this a very successful album.

"Meanwhile, after 4 years of a great relation, we decided to stop working together with our label Trollzorn. But we will never forget who gave us a hand when we were a completely unknown band in Europe. It has been a great pleasure to work with such honorable people that always stood aside us in the best and worst times, but like everything in life there is a time when we feel the need to change and we all think that this time has come. We wish Trollzorn all the best and please keep up your astonishing work as a folk/pagan label!

"But the best news of all, Gwydion has entered 'The Pentagon' studio last week to record our 3rd album with our producer Fernando Matias and so far everything is rockin´ as it should be! You think Horn Triskelion was good..? Well then arm yourself, and get ready for war! Prepare yourself for the most intense and majestic epic folk metal album! Horns up!"

Ewigheim Issues New Album Recording Update

Prophecy Productions has issued the following update about Ewigheim entering the studio to finish the recording process for "Bereue Nichts:"

"God rewards those who are patient ... and today, this means all those who have kept the faith in a third album by Ewigheim for seven years and have expedited its realization with their perseverance.

"Thus, Yantit and Allen B. Konstanz will enter the Studio E on the 24th of October to complete working on the successor to 'Heimwege' (2004) under the aegis of Markus Stock. The evil child will bear the name 'Bereue nichts' ('No Regrets') and includes ten tracks that are unaffected by any change."

Guitarist Yantit also stated: "It is autumn, you are getting sentimental. This sets a perfect scene to contemplate your own useless existence. As it still is our firm conviction that it is better to make a graceful exit than to struggle through a life devoid of sense and purpose, 'Bereue nichts' has long been overdue. Once more, it is nothing more or less than a musical thought impetus meant for the unstable, embittered, or clever ones amongst you ... Godspeed!"

Crown The Lost Recruits New Guitarist

Pittsburgh based melodic thrash metallers Crown the Lost have announced the addition of lead guitarist Todd Seitz, who is replacing former guitarist Joe Bonaddio.

Commented rhythm guitarist/founding member David E. Gehlke: "Being that we are such a lead guitar-driven band, finding a suitable shredder was something that wasn't taken lightly, so having Todd join is a big win for us. His musical background will allow us to further push our sound, all the while staying true to the core elements of Crown the Lost. Todd has already has been subjected to our off-beat brand of humor and has been able to assimilate himself quite nicely. We couldn't be happier to have Todd aboard and are eager to hit the ground running."

Seitz's live debut with Crown the Lost will be on Sunday, October 16th, as support for Devin Townsend and The Ocean at the Altar Bar in Pittsburgh. Crown the Lost's third album "Cold Pestilent Hope" (reviewed here) was released on July 19th via Gas Can Music.
