The latest album from Charred Walls of the Damned, "Cold Winds On Timeless Days," has debuted on the Billboard charts. The record reached #53 on the Billboard Hard Music Charts and #14 on the Billboard New Artist (Heatseekers) Chart. On iTunes, the CD peaked at #43 on the rock charts. Additionally, the album reached #89 on the Hard Music Charts on Soundscan in Canada.
Richard Christy, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Jason Suecof, and Steve DiGiorgio once again joined forces to bring to life Christy's latest body of work, "Cold Winds on Timeless Days." The writing process for the new album actually began while the band was mixing their 2010 debut. Richard Christy used his experience on the first album to write songs that catered not only to each member's playing style, but to Jason Suecof's production style. The result: demos that turned out nearly identical to what ended up on the album.
With 12 songs clocking in at 58 minutes, fans are getting more music this time around. Christy elaborates further, "I wanted to get a natural sound out of this album, I wanted everyone to be well rehearsed, not that I wanted the album to be rushed, but I wanted the spontaneous live feel and not over think anything too much." Richard Christy describes Cold Winds on Timeless Days as a "perfect storm of producing" – Audiohammer's Jason Suecof produced and Mark Lewis mixed, while mastering was handled by Alan Douches at West Westside.
"Cold Winds On Timeless Days" was released October 11th. You can find Metalunderground.com's interview with Richard Christy about the album by heading over here.

The Binary Code has been hard at work preparing new material with new vocalist Rory Crumm (formerly of Swallow the Ocean). Rory joined the band in September, working extensively in preparation for the sold-out show with Periphery & Textures at the Gramercy Theatre NYC Frak the Gods tour stop. After playing a handful of shows with the Binary Code, it was decided that Rory would join the band full-time not only as a vocalist, but also to handle synths/sampling.
Rory talks about his enlistment with the band: "I am beyond humbled to have been asked to join The Binary Code and to be creating music with such talented and responsible musicians. I look forward to the writing process and progressing as a vocalist along side these fine gents."
The Binary Code had the following to say about Rory joining the group: "We are thoroughly excited to have Rory as a part of the band. We were fans of his previous band Swallow the Ocean long before we started working together. Considering our most recent exploration of the post-metal genre, Rory's vocal abilities, both screaming and singing, and other instrumental talents are absolutely equal to the task, and then some. We're going to be doing vocal pre-production very soon, and plan to share that with our listeners when we're done. It's a wonderful feeling knowing the confines and limitations of our music continue to disappear as each song is written."
The band is periodically writing and recording new pre-production full-length at its very own Studio Nil in Bloomfield, NJ. Upon completion of the pre-production, the group will enter the studio in late-Winter/early-Spring with a yet-to-be-announced engineer.
The Binary Code also has the following upcoming shows with Rivers of Nihil:
11/4 O'Reilly's - Philadelphia, PA
11/5 TBA - NY, NY
11/6 PT-109 - Allston, MA (email firstname.lastname@example.org for info)
11/7 Lit Lounge - NYC, NY

Front man Tom Stevens of Nokturnel has issued the following announcement about recruiting a new drummer:
"After Nokturnel's performance at A Day of Death drummer Matt Francis was unable to commit to the band for understandable reasons forcing us to cancel a show. This pissed me off as I did not bring this band back to the stage to be canceling anything. We were privileged enough to get on a few great shows and I was becoming completely fed up with the drummer situation as The Goregrowlers Ball is coming up.
"Growing tired of being pissed off with everything...I was ready to end Nokturnel. I called promoter Aaron Mendiola with the news I may have to cancel when he suggested I contact my old friend Alex Marquez. I have known Alex since the mid 90s. We'd been out of touch for years and we were both stoked to get back in touch. I really needed a friend I could count on and Alex's enthusiasm is something I have sorely missed. I personally am very happy with what I have achieved with Nokturnel in recent years and all I can do is continue pushing to get myself to the next level. I am looking forward to getting together with Alex and of course playing for dozens of friends in so many other great bands at the Ball in a few weeks. I can see Alex and I creating some new music that will have all the ripping trademarks of Nokturnel as well as the potential to make the fastest music I have ever composed. Alex is also playing for Sargon and Solsticeboth bands are also playing the Goregrowlers Ball.
"Bringing Alex in as the drummer for Nokturnel has turned everything around for me. We have much to look forward to but my priority for now is this Fest. I don't give a fuck what country you are in... you need to get your ass to Texas and let it rip with Nokturnel, 49 other bands, and 1000 maniacs! Welcome aboard Alex!"
Alex commented, "Man its gonna be killer workin with my old friend Tom and Nokturnel..... This is gonna be sick!! I'm honored for the invite and will put my heart into it as I always do! The entire weekend of the Goregrowlers Ball is going to be incredible. Nokturnel plays on Friday. Look at this line up: EXHUMED, GOATWHORE, IMPIETY, SOLSTICE, NOKTURNEL, HELLWITCH, GRAVEHILL, PUTRID PILE, NOISEAR, HAVOK, SARGON, ENABLER, UNCLEANSED, VAGINAL BEAR
TRAP, EMPERIAL MASSACRE, and many more!"

Five Finger Death Punch's new album, "American Capitalist," has charted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and sold 90,509 copies in its first week, making it the band’s strongest debut yet. "American Capitalist" also charted at #1 on the Independent Current Albums chart, #3 on the Top Current Albums chart, #2 on the Top Current Rock Albums chart, Current Hard Music Albums chart, Top Hard Music Albums chart, and the Overall Digital Albums chart. The band's publicist commented on the achievement:
"American Capitalist' is a completely independent release with no major label backing, making a #3 charting position a genuinely amazing achievement. Prospect Park is a new independent production and management company founded by Jeff Kwatinetz. Kwatinetz is known for starting former management powerhouse, The Firm, a company once known for managing chart-topping artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Linkin Park, and Snoop Dogg. Prospect Park’s music division has a stellar track record of tremendous success with acts that not only include 5FDP, but Jane’s Addiction, Ice Cube and Korn, just to name a few. Prospect Park’s project spectrum is leading them into the world of television in January; the company plans to kick off an internet-based online network beginning with the airing of soap operas, including the classics ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘All My Children’."
Deb Klein, the GM for Prospect Park Label states, “This is our first number 1 on the Billboard chart and it's an incredible testament to the partnership we have with the band and EMI label services. By being independent we are able to take chances and do things quickly and efficiently in this digital age.”
Maria Ferrero, President and CEO of Adrenaline PR adds, “These days, it makes a statement for any band to sell more than 90,000 in its first week, but it is a phenomenon for a Heavy Metal band on an independent label to scan more than 90,000 records.”
Five Finger Death Punch also has the following upcoming tour dates: More...
Allegaeon is preparing to enter the studio to record the band's second album for Metal Blade, and the follow up to "Fragments of Form and Function." This time around, the guys will be heading to San Diego to record with producer Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios. The band plans to record this December.
Guitarist Ryan Glisan discusses recording and their drummer situation in the following update: "First off, all of us here in the Allegaeon camp are happy to announce that we will be recording our follow-up to 'Fragments of Form and Function' this December at Lambesis studios in San Diego, with Daniel Castleman, who has worked with such bands as As I lay Dying, Carnifex and Molotov Solution and we are excited to see what Daniel can do with our style.
"All the songs are written and we are finishing up vocals and solos as we speak. What can you expect from our new album? I think we can all say that this album is where we have wanted to be as a band for a long time, its fresh, super heavy, melodic, a ton of groove oriented old school style riffing, just as much blasting as down tempo beats and on a whole the album has very cohesive and consistent sound that mixes intensity with musicality, and as usual there's about a thousand solos haha. I think people will not necessarily hear what they are expecting to hear, but in a good way.
"Second, we would like to announce that JP Andrade will be taking over on drums for our follow-up album and are excited to see what he can bring to Allegaeon. JP is as well versed in extreme death metal styles as he is with other styles such as rock and Jazz etc.
"Other details about the album will be revealed in the following months leading up to its release next spring/summer. Stayed tuned for many studio videos, photos and announcements here soon." More...
This past weekend, solo metal act Autumns Eyes took a trip to Massachusetts for the 2011 Rock and Shock Convention. Front man Dan Mitchell just posted a recap about the whole event at the Autumns Eyes Blog. An excerpt follows:
"Its probably well known by now that Im not much of a public person. This past weekend at Rock and Shock completely changed that. I am extremely thankful and lucky to have such amazing fans who contact me here online, but to meet them in person is a completely different experience. Not only did it change my mind, but it also inspired me to pursue more public outings. Such as more conventions, and even the long awaited live show!"

"Greetings Thrashers! As you will have already noticed by now, things are rather quiet for Dew-Scented in the public eye. However, things are actually turbulent and challenging behind closed doors, so we wanted to give you a brief update with what's going on…
