Fragile Mortals Wants To Get You "Fired Up"

Fragile Mortals - the new band that combines hip-hop legend Darryl “DMC” McDaniels (Run DMC) with metal group Generation Kill featuring vocalist Rob Dukes (ex-Exodus) and bassist Rob Moschetti (ex-Pro-Pain, M.O.D.) - will release debut singe "Fired Up" on July 4th, followed by the single “Suicide” on July 5th via Bumblefoot Music.

Says DMC of the upcoming new track: “'Fired Up' is a sports inspired attitude about giving all you got in this "game of life." And like my verse says, you must do it without cheating!”

While the message of "Fired Up" is pretty straightforward, "Suicide" tackles darker topics, that according to DMC, hit closer to home: “'Suicide' is really personal to me because I was fighting depression, so I know what individuals, young and old, go through. People will always tell you that you shouldn't feel the way you feel. Easier said than done!”

DMC adds, “I discovered the first step to healing is be truthful to yourself about how you're feeling, then look at WHO and WHAT circumstances are causing these feelings, then deal with those to remove those from your life. Me and Dukes wrote these lyrics no holds barred because that's how we, and a lot of others felt." More...

Pain Of Salvation Posts "Fandango (Live)"

Swedish progressive rock/metal group Pain of Salvation is releasing a very special version of 2002 album "Remedy Lane," entitled "Remedy Lane Re:visited (Re:mixed & Re:lived)" and out today via InsideOutMusic.

Additionally, Pain of Salvation's classic track "Fandango (Live)" is now launched now via a static clip on YouTube as next online sample for the release. Listen in below.

Pain of Salvation's Daniel Gildenlöw comments: "'Fandango' has always been one of my favorite live songs, and it's always well received by the crowd. I think it's simply very cool for both us as musicians and for the fans to see this very complex beast spring to life. And those high notes of mine in the end of the song seem to guarantee a certain level of impressiveness, regardless of who is listening.

"I still recall when we were on tour back in 2002 together with Dream Theater - after our show James LaBrie and Jordan Rudess came up to me and shook their heads with big smiles. James said he just couldn't understand how I could pull off all those hard-on-the-voice styles and techniques and still master the high end like that. Jordan agreed and joked that those last notes in 'Fandango' were probably illegal in several states. Needless to say, that was a pretty huge moment for me." More...

Methra Posts Full "Acolyte" LP

"Acolyte," the debut LP by Tucson-based lunatic sludge duo Methra, is now rupturing all in earshot just days ahead of its release on Monday, the 4th of July.

Recorded at Arcane Digital with Ryan Butler (who complained of physical and mental anguish due to the bands' unorthodox recording demands), "Acolyte" is an auditory beast in every way. Drummer Andy Kratzenberg (Godhunter) and guitarist Nick Genitals (Limbless Torso) used only incredibly large speakers to record a behemoth load of sixty-nine guitar tracks on the ten tracks, including 15" and 18" speakers, and a 21" subwoofer.

Issues Battleground Records on behalf of these eccentric cohorts: "You know, I'm not even sure what is going on with this band. It's the weirdest album from the weirdest dudes. I don't ask about the process. I don't want to know. Would you ask Lisa Frank why everything is fluorescent? No. Would you ask Matt Pike where his shirt is? No. No way, man. No way." More...

Cancerous Womb Releasing New EP

Cancerous Womb's new EP "It Came To This" is due out on July 5th, 2016. Third track "Isoaltion Frenzy" has also come online and can be heard below.

Guitarist Mike Robertson explains that the band has strayed from "the usual death metal lyrical theatrics of gore/violence/horror/shock and the likes and heads down a more self-analyzing approach with a grindcore appeal."

"This is the first born of the experiment," he goes on to state. "It's more about the protagonist's own internal workings, his crippling self-degradation and his drowning uncertainty, than our predecessors desire to slice apart women and shout about blood.

"The recordings were made across a few places. The drums were recorded in Edinburgh at Juvat Studios by our friend JamieT. Immediately after, a few hours down the M6, the guitar, bass and vocals were recorded at Drop The Dumbulls Gallery; a DIY (in the strictest sense and most genuine way possible) bar/venue/practice room/studio/house in Liverpool's old dockside quarter, by the talented producer and drummer 'Trippy Pijin' of Horsebastard fame. Tom Englund Ashamed Of Being A Man

Tom Englund of Evergrey has released a statement online about another reported case of rape at the Bravalla fest that had some fans cheering, and others heartily disagreeing with his assessment (for those who have been following the story, this is the third year in a row that sexual assaults have occurred there). Tom comments:

"Reading about yet another rape at the Bråvalla Festival in Sweden makes me feel ashamed of being a man.

"I feel sick, guilty and saddened to think that the possibility exists that even ONE single woman could perceive me as a threat. What is so incredibly and uniquely fucked up in a man’s head that makes him think that he could ever have the right to even get close or talk to a woman without her consent?!

"Men’s’ degrading view of women disgusts me. It disgusts me that a perception by some still exists today that men are superior. We are fucking not! On the contrary, we are very fucking far from it! Spreading insecurity and fear by our mere presence is so far from anything I want to be connected with. So much so that I feel that the world has lost its colour, its vibrancy and my hands are trembling as I type this. The thought of what women have to go through just by co-existing in everyday life in this world together with us men shames me.

"It's the attitude, the apathy and the SILENCE that has to fucking stop! And it will only have a chance to stop if us - men - fathers, husbands, brothers, boyfriends and grandpas - finally stand up for our moms, daughters, sisters, grandmas, wives, friends, girlfriends and, of course, any other women in distress. God Of Atheists Comments On Latest Delay

The constantly delayed God Of Atheists project (first announced back in 2011 and never actually releasing anything) has a new update from band mastermind Asgeir Mickelson. He comments:

"Waiting for the last five bass tracks. Lars is still working on his doctor's degree and has little time for anything else (yes, bass is important, but education is, eh, importanter).

"I'm not getting anyone else, because his work on the three first songs is flawless. I've learned not to promise anything with this project, but hopefully he'll start recording his last parts in August/September."

If the album ever arrives, its slated to include Asgeir Mickelson, Trym, ICS Vortex, Carl August Tidemann, Ihsahn, Lars K. Norberg, and Vibeke Stene.

Dawn Of Demise Reveals Album Details

The Danish death metal dealers from Dawn Of Demise will release a fourth full-length via Unique Leader Records late this summer.

Appropriately titled "The Suffering," the 11-track punisher was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Behemoth, Aborted, Leng Tch'e, Moonspell et al) at his own Antfarm Studios and will see release on August 26th.

"We are so pleased with the new album," issues the band in a collective statement. "Every time we finish an album, we always have a few things we aren't too thrilled with -- this time around though we got it right! With 'The Suffering,' we chose to be more open-minded in our approach to writing songs and it's much more of a band effort.

"We are still fond of our previous albums, but this time so many elements came together to create a more 'varied' ride. [Bassist/backing vocalist] Bjørn wrote so much of the 'Rejoice In Vengeance' album, but on this one he and [lead/rhythm guitarist] Martin chose to go riff crazy together. A new drummer, Bastian Thusgaard, has also been added to the fold, and his approach to drumming has also given these new songs a fresh gush of brutality.

"Expect a no holds barred, brutal, groovy, and heavy as fuck U.S. style death metal record with lots of inspiration from the American East Coast. Hope you guys dig it." More...

Wolverine Premieres Full New Album

Wolverine's fifth full-length album "Machina Viva" is set to drop next week on July 8th, but today we're bringing you the entire disc for advance streaming - listen in below!

"Machina Viva" was recorded and produced by the band in various locations throughout Sweden during late 2015 and early 2016, mixed at Spacelab Studio in Germany by Christian “Moschus” Moos (Everon, Haken, Delain, Cloverseeds), and mastered by Grammy Award winning audio engineer Bob Katz.

The follow-up to 2011's "Communication Lost" features such track as the epic 14 minute "The Bedlam Overture" and dark electronic landscapes on "Machina." To help you get the full "Machina Viva" experience, we had the band give us a complete track-by-track break down of the entire release.

Read the full break down below, followed by the album stream, and if you like what you hear pre-orders are online at this location.

"The Bedlam Overture"

Marcus: The origins of this song can be found way back in 2006. I was in a quite chaotic state of mind and the Rhodes intro-riff is what came out of that, although on an acoustic guitar originally. It has taken many shapes during the years as it was instrumental at ?rst but evolved to a longer and longer song. The thing that has always stuck with it is the somewhat chaotic nature of it.

Stefan: Like Marcus says, a song that has been around in various forms for quite some time now. I remember I really loved the intro-riff that Marcus came up with back in 2006. We intended to do something with it for Communication Lost but ended up not using it, probably because we didn't have a clear idea of where the song needed to go.

Thomas: I think this epic piece is one of the best songs we ever recorded. Sure, all songs have their own strengths and weaknesses, and there are other songs that are more beautiful and touching. With "The Bedlam Overture" however, you feel sort of run over having played through 14+ minutes. It is sort of a musical journey to me, and it has such a massive impact. I especially enjoy playing the verses due to the meditative nature of the bass lines. Speaking of the bass: The fretless bass solo is something that really bothered me since I had a hard time coming up with anything worthy in such a forceful song. Actually it wasn't until Marcus and I was in the studio to record the bass tracks for the entire album that I managed to come up with what you hear on the album – the solo was invented in its entirety under these somewhat stressful circumstances, and I am quite satis?ed what came out of it.

Per: This was the song that we played over and over again at rehearsals. Everything with this song felt very much complete besides the middle section which went through some changes during the writing sessions. From one session to the next we tried different ideas and approaches.

Solution .45 Releases "Built On Sand" Lyric Video

Sweden's Solution .45 - featuring ex-Scar Symmetry vocalist Christian Älvestam - released the first single from the upcoming new album "Nightmares in the Waking State - Part II." The album drops on August 26th via AFM Records.

Commented the band: "Nightmares In The Waking State - Part II" is in fact not a 'new' album in the strict sense of the word. Both Part I and II were actually recorded at the same time, as 'one' long album, but since we did not want to release it as a regular double album, we decided to split it into two separate releases instead to make it a bit more interesting. Compared to Part I, Part II has a slightly more melodic touch.

"Lyrically it's core matter is based around 'struggle' and the art of fighting your way through the tough times in life. We've all been there and we will all most likely end up there again some day. Life is often a really dark and nasty place and we'd like to see 'Nightmares In The Waking State - Part I & II' as our soundtrack to that!“

The track list for the album is:

1. Dim Are The Pathways
2. The Faint Pulse Of Light
3. Mind Mutation
4. Built On Sand
5. Inescapable Dream
6. The Curse That Keeps On Giving
7. Chain Connector
8. What Turns The Wheels
9. Misery Mantra
10. Heavy Lies The Crown More...
