Scour Streams Entire Debut Album
Scour - the extreme metal collaboration uniting Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down, Superjoint etc.), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Continuum, former Animosity, Decrepit Birth), and Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention) - will unleash a self-titled debut tomorrow via Housecore Records.
In advance of its release, the full record has come online for early streaming today. Check out the harrowing strain of blackened, grind-infused mayhem that is "Scour" below. The band's six-track, self-titled debut was mixed by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Cattle Decapitation, Cobalt, Khemmis).
Said Anselmo of the release, "Doing the Scour project was a blast. The way I saw it, the songs are short, and extremely straight-forward, so I didn't want to clutter them up with too much. I had to pick particular lyrics that seemed provocatively absurd enough, and to perform them as raw as deemed fit. I hope all the true extreme music lovers enjoy the stuff as much as I did performing it. I haven't done this style of since my days with Christ Inversion from 1994 - 1997, and I know some people might know of bands I've done like Eibon or Necrophagia in the early 2000s. Doing Scour was a cool re-visit. A huge cheers to all the awesome collaborators on this project." More...
Mine Collapse Streams "Zeroed"
In just over a week, Nefarious Industries will unveil the self-titled debut EP by Chicago-based Mine Collapse. The group was founded by two-thirds of now defunct punk/metal ensemble arbogast and today the band unveils new track "Zeroed."
Throughout the "Mine Collapse: EP, a running lyrical theme attempts to, in the words of the band, "address the frustrations in the face of a corporatized culture and the inevitable surrender to it."
This is present in the "Zeroed" single, for which the band offers, "'Zeroed' similarly echoes the lyrical theme of modern misanthropy, calling out insatiable consumerism and shameless entitlement among the upper crust. 'Last in line is first to fail/ Choking down the bitter pill / After everything's consumed / Empty life goes unfulfilled.'" More...

Badr Vogu Streaming New Songs
"Wroth" is the forthcoming new full-length from Oakland, California sludge/doom/crust metal faction Badr Vogu. Captured in the spring and summer of 2015 at Earhammer Studios in Oakland by Greg Wilkinson (Pallbearer, Vastum), the eight-track offering will be released on cassette and 2xLP via Tribunal Of The Axe Records.
In advance of the release of "Wroth," the band today shares two new tracks in the form of "Copernican Theory" and "Narcotically Opaque." Badr Vogu comments:
"'Copernican Theory' is the opening track off of the new album and the first song we wrote collectively with our current lineup. It starts off with a bang rather than with a slow build-up like the opener on our last album, so we thought it was the perfect song to kick things off.
"Lyrically, it deals with human subjectivity and the inherent narcissism embedded within which manifests as viewing yourself as a special, unique being when in all actuality we're all just carbon-based, avaricious animals trapped on a tiny blue rock close to a dying star in an incomprehensibly vast and expanding universe. Contrary to what your parents and teachers told you, you aren't special. You aren't entitled to shit, and neither is anyone else, ourselves included. More...

Jonas Reingold had this to say about the track, which also features his colleague from The Tangent, Andy Tillison, on Hammond organ:
"When you are trying to compress a 30-minute prog epic into 6 minutes, you know that you are up for a difficult task. What parts should be in it? Will the fans get the lyrical content? Can I somehow make a coherent piece of music in this format?
"Well, that's really up to the listener to decide but I feel strongly that the parts I put together really work well in combination with this fantastic video. I hope you will enjoy this as much as I did while working on this. Soon you all will hear the whole song, but until then, enjoy!!!"

See 40 Years Of Goth In Under 4 Minutes
In just under four minutes, the "40 Years of Goth Style" videop takes viewers through the evolution of the clothing, hair and make-up styles of those seductive children of the night from 1970s punk rockers up to today's Ouija-worshipping Nu Goths. The digital short was created by Liisa Ladouceur, author of the definitive Encycyclopedia Gothica.
"I was really quite bored of seeing the headline 'Celebrity X Goes Goth' every time a model or pop star shows up on a red carpet wearing all black," says Liisa. "That's not what Goth is about. And while I'm a fan of the many different 'fashion history in two minute' videos, they all seem to showcase conventional, very mainstream beauty standards. I wanted to create something that celebrated the wilder, weirder goth girls out there, and to really show how goth style has evolved over the decades."

Myself and my brothers in The Night Watch really pushed ourselves to create a dynamic piece of instrumental music that is epic and enjoyable, intricate and intimate, progressive without pretension. Athorn Makes Comeback With "Necropolis"
German melodic death metal act Athorn announced the impending release of the new post-apocalyptic concept release "Necropolis." The album is expected to drop on September 16th via Dr. Music Records. It marks the first release since the 2009 debut full length "Phobia."
The longplayer with eleven songs immediately conveys to the listener a detailed illustration of what would happen if a meteorite suddenly hit our planet and turned humankind into a nation of zombies. The end of human civilization causes a complete chaos on the planet and puts it into an apocalyptic state. In order to portray this exact wasteland scenario more precisely, the members of Athorn have thrown pretty much every style between melodic death and power metal into their seething songwriting pot and created the post-apocalyptic ruined city “Necropolis“ as a fantastic result.
The atmospheric artwork, created in a spectacular way by multi-talent and vocalist Carsten Frank, shows a sea of skulls in front of a desolate ghost town in the distance and provides the concept of the album with a remarkably intense expression. You can practically watch the goosebumps rise on your skin while viewing the cover for the first time. But see for yourselves below.
“Necropolis“ was produced completely autonomously in vocalist Carsten Frank’s Waveland Productions Studio and will be available as digipak with a 12-page booklet in stores, through notable streaming services and download stores. In addition to that, a strongly limited special edition metal box including rare goodies will only be available at live shows or on the band website. Pre-orders will be available soon.
