Pigs Streaming "The Life In Pink"

Brooklyn-based power-trio Pigs -- founded by members of Unsane and Paradise Club -- will release second LP, "Wronger," through the outfit's trusted source at France's Solar Flare Records in early October, and the maiden single from the slab has been unleashed early. Check out "The Life In Pink" below.

Following Pigs' criminally slept on "You Ruin Everything" debut LP in 2012 and subsequent "Gaffe" EP in 2013, the band's sophomore album "Wronger" was written and recorded sporadically over the last year or so, when each member wasn't focused on feeding their families, detailing race cars or doing sound for like-minded ogres Melvins, Big Business, and Murder City Devils.

Pigs and John Fulk produced the record at bassist Andrew Schneider's co-owned Translator Audio in Coney Island, after which it was mixed at Loho Studios by Schneider, mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering, and fitted with artwork by guitarist/vocalist Dave Curran and drummer Jim Paradise. Magister Templi Releasing "Into Duat"

After having deeply explored the different aspects of Crowley’s philosophy on previous releases "Iao Sabao" and "Lucifer Leviathan Logos," Norwegian occult heavy metal band Magister Templie returns with new full-length, "Into Duat," focusing thematically on some of the central myths and gods of the Egyptian Mythology (“Duat” is the realm of the god Osiris).

"Into Duat" is set for a September 18th release via Cruz Del Sur Music. As on the 7’’ "Nyarlathotep" from 2014, the band has moved even further away from doom-inspired beginnings towards a more open-minded musical experience that is strongly based on filthy traditional heavy metal.

The album was recorded in Oslo between Evil Octopus and Sorcerer studios, with former band member Simon Aarset as technician. The cover artwork was done by German painter Stefan Bleyl. More...

Full Scale Riot Releases "Betrayus" Video

New York City-area hardcore quartet Full Scale Riot just released an official video hailing from debut EP," Depopulation", created for the record's third track, "Betrayus."

The clip broadcasts the band's groove-heavy, metallic hardcore fury shot and edited by Mike "Diggy" Murphy (Ill-Roc Records). Available below, the "Betrayus" video cuts politically-charged themes that reside in the band's tunes with performance footage in an energetic explosion.

Full Scale Riot comments: "The song title 'Betrayus' is a riff on the General Petraeus scandal in name only. 'Betrayus' is about friendship and loyalty, or the illusion of. It's the ugly side of allowing yourself to be vulnerable. This song is a slight departure from the rest of the politically driven songs on the EP, although the same sentiment can be applied to our elected officials; that's why you can see labor movement images as well as other political themes throughout the video."

You can also catch the riot in action on these dates:

8/08/2015 The Blue Room - Secaucus, NJ
8/30/2015 Lucky 13 Saloon - Brooklyn, NY w/ Urban Waste, Reason Enough, Sicker Than Most

Act Of Defiance Streaming New Song

In a time of endless sub-genre classifications, Act Of Defiance's debut offering simply delivers 100% in-your-face, uncompromising heavy metal. The scathing debut, "Birth and The Burial," is set for an August 21st release via Metal Blade Records and pre-order bundle packages are now available at this location.

Today a new song also comes online: "Refrain and Re-Fracture" can be heard below. Shawn Drover (drums) states:

"'Refrain and Re-Fracture' is a great example of using musical dynamics in a heavy metal song. All of us in Act Of Defiance have always been fans of cool acoustic/classical song intro’s before the metal assault kick’s in, so when Chris presented this song to me I immediately loved the tune.

"Henry Derek really did a great job here as well by using his range a bit more as a singer, going from brutal singing to injecting some more melodic phrasing within the song as well, but still sounding very powerful. 'Refrain and Re-Fracture' is just another great example of showing that 'Birth and The Burial' is certainly not a one dimensional heavy metal record.”

Chris Broderick further adds: "'Refrain and Re-fracture's' creation started off with the classical guitar of all instruments hahaha. I wanted a moody beginning into a heavy verse with each instrument entering and slowly building the tension until the transition to the verse. At this point a tempo change was needed for something more fast paced and aggressive with heavy vocals (Henry definitely delivered on that!!!). More...

Throaat Offers You Some "Black Speed"

Forever committed to unearthing the best sounds in the metal underground, Invictus Productions sets August 3rd as the international release for Throaat's latest EP, "Black Speed." The label comments:

"A true power-trio in the grand tradition of Motorhead and Venom - whom they cover here with 'In League With Satan' - Throaat have been prolifically perfecting their craft the last couple years across a slew of demo and EP releases.

"Now, with the five-song 'Black Speed,' the band have hit a fever pitch, distilling the very essence of Throaat into their most exciting, throttling songs to date. Ever aptly titled, 'Black Speed' maintains first-wave black metal aesthetics within an unselfconsciously modern framework. There is no retro posturing, but rather an authentic, well-simmered explosion 'n' retraction of timeless heavy metal tropes; signposts of early Slayer, Hungary's Tormentor, debut-era Bathory, and '80s Mayhem exist, but don't even tell half the story.

"Songwriting is key, with fiery execution to back it up, and the aces of Throaat have both those in spades. Feel 'Black Speed' pumping through your metal heart - the dealers of Throaat will help you score."

2. Coven
3. Explode
4. Rampage

Hexxus Member Arrested For Wearing Bullet Belt

In what will no doubt be a huge PR boost for previously totally unknown band Hexxus, member Kevin Young was arrested after causing a panic on a public bus while wearing a bullet belt. BPDNews.com reports:

At about 4:20 PM on Friday July 10, 2015, officers assigned to District D-14 (Brighton) responded to a call for a person with a gun on an MBTA bus in the area of Cambridge and Harvard Streets.

Officers learned that the driver had pulled the bus over as passengers began calling 911 when a male suspect boarded the bus with what appeared to be military grade ammunition strapped around his waist. The driver stated that the passengers were in a panic, fearing that the suspect was about to pull out a weapon. The suspect, later identified as Kevin Young, 26, of Watertown, exited the bus and was stopped by police on Penniman Road at which time it was discovered that the ammunition was fake. Officers recovered 69 replica bullets in all. The suspect was wearing what was described as spiked fighting gloves and spiked leather bracelets.

The suspect was placed in custody and will appear in Brighton District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carried Dangerous Weapon and Disorderly Conduct.

Those charges have since been dropped when Young made his court appearance, however. MyFoxBoston.com reported this update yesterday:

“Based on the totality of circumstances, however, including confirmation that the cartridges on said belt could not and weren't intended to be fired, prosecutors dismissed the charges at arraignment in Brighton Municipal Court,” the Suffolk County District Attorney said.

So what do you think metal heads? On the one hand, walking onto a public bus looking like you are about to shoot up the place is a pretty damn bad idea (and it's a good thing there wasn't some trigger happy asshole with a concealed weapon on board), but on the other, he didn't actually commit any crime and arresting him for having fake bullets seems way overboard.
