Late last month After The Burial parted ways with guitarist Justin Lowe after he posted a rambling paranoid rant about the other band members, prompting a statement about Lowe suffering from mental health issues.
After going missing earlier this week, we are saddened to announce that Lowe has passed away and apparently died in a fall. RiverTowns.net reports:
St. Croix County authorities on Wednesday released the identity of the man whose body was found near the St. Croix River. The deceased man was identified as 32-year-old Justin A. Lowe of Vadnais Heights, Minn., according to St. Croix County Chief Deputy Scott Knudson.
Lowe's body was discovered by a hiker early Tuesday beneath the Arcola High Bridge connecting Minnesota and the town of Somerset. Knudson said Lowe had been reported missing July 18 in Washington County, Minn. Foul play was not suspected, Knudson said, adding that the cause of death was consistent with a fall.
Our condolences to the band members and family of Lowe, and if you'd like to leave a message to the band you can do so at Facebook here.

It was in 1992 when two promising bands from the Swedish & Finnish death metal scenes released a split album that now, 23 years later, it's one of the most cult splits ever released in the early 90's.
Unfortunately, Cartilage never recorded anything after that and although Altar did a few demos later on, the group disbanded shortly after.
But the legacy still lives and this split album (originally released through former Xtreem Music label Drowned Productions) now gets a re-issue in form of a double CD with 7 bonus tracks by each band taken from early demos - that's a total of 14 songs from each group.
All songs have been remastered (not remixed!) for an optimal sound, preserving the essence from the originals, and the split also comes with new cover artwork, a remake of the original one made by cult Finnish artist Turkka G. Rantanen.
The 2-CD version is set for an August 20th release and in the meantime, you can listen to one track by each band below. More...

International electronic metal producer Zardonic has brought his signature aggressive bass to the extreme sports and fighting world with his newest single "Bring It On" (Feat. Mikey Rukus), out now through eOne Music.
The now NBC MMA World Series of Fighting main theme is a hard-hitting, unapologetic electronic metal anthem with bellicose lyrics from MMA music legend Mikey Rukus. Zardonic also comments:
"This is an example of the direction we're taking for the new Zardonic album on eOne. Working with Mikey Rukus was an absolute pleasure and thanks to James Jeda CEO of Rocktagon Worldwide we put this insane collaboration together four months ago, and now it's the Main Theme of World Series Of Fighting and is being heard by millions all over the world on NBC. I'm yet to know what it means to be happier than this!" More...
Hardcore/thrash crossover act Crumbsuckers is streaming two tracks from the band's upcoming digital release of early rare recordings, "Demos" and "Live at CBGB 1984-1985."
The two albums will release this Friday, along with "Basement Tapes," via Dead City Records. Stream "Be Yourself" from "Live at CBGB 1984-1985" and "Live to Work" from "Demos" in the SoundCloud clips provided below.
Compiled by original singer Dave Brady, this will be the first time these recordings will be available digitally. All recorded before Brady's departure from the band, "Demos" features early versions of songs which later appeared on the band's debut album "Life of Dreams."
"Basement Tapes" includes early and alternate versions of songs recorded in their rawest form, originally meant for the band's ears only and recorded at various early practice sessions.
Finally, "Live at CBGB 1984-1985" contains great quality early live recordings from the CBGB's soundboard. Dead City Records is proud to make the tracks available digitally worldwide for the first time.
"Direct from my personal archive of recordings comes the early days of Crumbsuckers material," commented Brady. "These are some of the earliest surviving recordings of the band, and you can hear the progress from our punk rock roots to what would be called the 'crossover' days of the mid-80s. This is the whole enchilada - from basement tapes, to pro demos and some choice early CBGB board recordings." More...
Philadelphia's unchained grind trio Die Choking will release a third recording and very first full-length titled "III" this October through The Compound Recs.
Today the first single from the record has come online - check out "Death's Waveform" below. Issues founding bassist/vocalist Paul Herzog on the upcoming album:
"Die Choking's forthcoming album 'III' is a dastardly Americanized reinterpretation of Plato's allegory of the cave. It is a dense work and presents a politicized metaphysical cycle: origin, liberation, corruption, falter, violent degradation, decay, and rebirth. 'III' is a brutal reference to both ancient and modern interpretations of existence, morality, and politics.
"This album is a short, simple and a delightfully entropic vision. It presents a nihilistic emergence from ignorance that is met not by a joyous embrace of eternal knowledge but is heralded by a vision of an eternal, ever-stretching graveyard. It is here that coffin after coffin and grave upon grave stretches into the forever." More...
Drew Shoup of Warbeast will receive surgery to repair tendon and nerve damage to his fingers. The Warbeast guitarist severed 3 tendons and damaged nerves in his fingers due to accident involving a blender blade. Warbeast posted the following update via Facebook:
"Hey everyone… I have an update on our new Warbeast guitarist Drew Shoup. I know everyone has been concerned after his freak accident the other night to his fingers. I have some bad and good news to report.
First of all for those that aren’t aware of what happened….
Drew was washing a blender blade for like 2 seconds and right then their cat tried to jump up on the fridge. She missed and landed on his hand and it forced it onto the blade. It sliced them down to the bone… ouch!!! He was rushed to the ER and they gave him stitches that night.
Today he went to see a hand specialist. The bad news is that he severed 3 tendons and a bunch of nerves. At the moment he has no feeling or movement in his index finger. He will have to schedule a surgery for next week for them to put it all back together.
Now for the good news… right after the surgery, he will have to therapy for awhile and they’re telling him that it should all heal 100%. The timeframe on that is a guess right now… but Drew says he’s determined to work hard and get back to playing as soon as possible. So we are hoping for about 6-8 weeks for the best case scenario. The Black Dahlia Murder has released the scathing new track "Receipt,” taken from the band’s upcoming full-length album "Abysmal," which comes out on September 18th on Metal Blade Records. Check it out below.
Trevor Strnad (vocals) states: “The song, ‘Receipt,' is a very personal and emotional one for me. I wrote the lyrics in my darkest hour, when anxiety had bested me and self loathing had come to an ultimate head. I was alone. I felt like I couldn't create anything, and I was about to lose all that in life that I hold dear to me to failure.
"The song was a cathartic release and I hope it can be some kind of help to someone out there who feels the same darkness. I truly love the song and I feel like its one of the best this band has ever written, and I thank you all for listening.”

There are situations in life that you just cant foresee, never mind plan for: magical moments that call for spontaneous decisions and often change our lives forever. It was a moment like this that Logan Mader (Ex- Machine Head, Soulfly) experienced in spring 2014, when a short guitar demo video by the unknown singer and multi-instrumentalist Lauren Hart was played to him. The guitarist, composer, and producer was asked to work with Lauren.
"We met up and discovered that our artistic visions had so much in common," recalls Mader from that fateful first encounter. "Most of the productions I'm offered are subject to commercial aspects. But her vision was so pure, so unusual and passionate, I was immediately inspired. After a couple months and a few songs in, I was compelled to play again and join the band. And so Once Human was born."
The band releases its debut album "The Life I Remember" on September 4, 2015 through earMUSIC.
Its been twelve years since Mader was last involved in a band. Back in 1992, he was a co-founding member of Machine Head, recording "Burn My Eyes" (1994) and "The More Things Change" (1997). He then went on to join the Soulfly fold, actively contributing to the 1998 debut album. Together with Whitfield Crane from Ugly Kid Joe he subsequently founded the outfit Medication, but from 2003 concentrated exclusively on his studio activities.
Created under Mader's direction were albums by Five Finger Death Punch, Fear Factory and DevilDriver, among others. He comments: "I really enjoyed my time with Machine Head and Soulfly, but was determined to work as a producer. With Once Human, I've come full circle. After leaving the stage and working in the studio for 12 years, I feel like I have grown to reach an apex in my musical career. One that made me crave the stage once again. Lauren's vision of the music she wanted to create was exactly what I needed. Once Human was my awakening." More...

After weeks of auditions, reactivated southern doom bringers, Serpents Of Secrecy - featuring ex-Sixty Watt Shaman members, bassist Rev. Jim Forrester (Foghound), drummer Chuck Dukehart III (Foghound) and guitarist Todd Ingram (King Giant) -- is very pleased to welcome current Gypsy Chief Goliaths/former Mighty Nimbus frontman, Al Yeti Bones, to the mic.
Serpents Of Secrecy was initially forged in 2013, but ultimately put on hold while Rev. Jim, Dukehart III, and Ingram participated in the reformation of Sixty Watt Shaman. However, following two years of performances including DesertFest Berlin and London, the increasingly difficult challenges related to schedules and logistics within the Sixty Watt camp led to the revival of Serpents Of Secrecy.
Recording of a full-length album is already underway in Baltimore, Maryland at Magpie Cage Studios with J. Robbins (Clutch, Wino, The Sword etc.). The first round of tracking is complete and additional sessions are planned in the coming weeks. "We were working with several candidates and heard some great vocalists but Al's demos had the attack, passion and feel that best matched the music we're writing," said Ingram of the decision to bring in Yeti Bones. "His performances were the first ones where all three of us thought, 'yep, this is our guy.' And his enthusiasm for this project has truly been impressive. He sent us vocal takes less than twenty-four hours after receiving the rough tracks." More...

42 Decibel knows only one religion: traditional rock 'n' roll guaranteed to make even the hardest men’s muscles turn to jelly mash! Now on their second album "Rolling In Town," the band from Argentina makes no secret of the fact that nothing but audiophilic wholefood is going to be served here.
"Rolling In Town" will be released by Steamhammer/SPV as CD, vinyl and download on September 18th (EU) and October 2nd (USA) via Steamhammer/SPV Records.
