Following a return to European stages in May, the Canadian progressive metal pioneers from Voivod are confirmed to return to Europe in October as part of the heavyweight "Deathcrusher 2015" tour alongside Carcass, Obituary, Herod, and label mates Napalm Death.
Voivod's drummer Michel "Away" Langevin checked in with the following comment about the upcoming tour: "We are proud to be part of this crazy line-up and psyched to go back to Europe again this year. What a thrill to meet all our friends once more and share the stage with our partners in metal."
And just in time for this tour package and as further teaser for a next studio album, the follow-up to 2013's "Target Earth release," Voivod will release a special and limited split 7" EP together with Napalm Death. Look out for more details about this project very soon! See Voivod live on these dates: More...
New Jersey thrash outfit Condition Critical will soon record the follow-up to 2013's "Operational Hazard," with the band commenting:
"Album 2 is coming along great. Studio has been decided on, recording dates in the works! Very soon, we will be releasing a play through video of another cover we recorded.
"Also, on our way to Full Terror Assault this September in Illinois, we will be doing a run of shows on the way out, and on our way back home. Look out for dates!" More...
Hideous Divinity has issued the following statement about having to cut a set short when Stonehenge Festival was abruptly ended:
"Thanks to whoever came and enjoyed our performance at Stonehenge before the hurricane forced the organizers to stop the entire festival!
"We're very sorry for playing less than half a setlist but as you can see from the video below, conditions during our show were really dangerous. Therefore we wish to extend our thanks to Rene and the whole festival organization, these guys are professional and are not the ones to blame.
"A special thanks to all you Dutch sick metalheads, it was challenging but worthy. No need to say, we will come back!" More...

Steorrah has issued a statement online about running into an unexpected problem with crowdfunding - the band's campaign was successful, but the funding site has never actually payed out the raised funds. Steorrah comments:
"Dear Metal community, remember when we crowdfunded our recent album 'II: Thin White Paint?' A lot of metal fans worldwide supported us and all went well. Or did it?
"Sellaband.com, our crowdfunding platform, has kept us waiting for the money for months on end and now it seems we may not get our money at all, a sum of approx. 2,500€.
"This is because Sellaband appears to be unable to pay out the money they had already collected on our behalf.
"It goes without saying that this puts us in a very bad situation, since we have had to pay our bills nonetheless... We hope Sellaband can still rectify the situation and do not want to speculate whether the reasons for their inability to pay out the money (alleged US banking issues) are legitimate or not.
"However we have drastically decreased our prices at Bandcamp to try and offset the damage already done. You can now download our albums for 4€ each and buy CDs and T-Shirts for 7€. If you like what you hear on bandcamp, please spread the word and help us save the day!" More...

Thrash metal and Brazil go together like black metal and Norway, death metal and Sweden or moaning and Britain. Throughout the history of Sunday Old School, we’ve seen plenty of bands from Brazil take thrash metal and put their own spin on it, from the global stars, Sepultura to their crossover friends Ratos de Parão to their first wave black metal enemies, Sarcófago. This week, the column will once again be looking at some more boys from Brazil who could thrash with the best, a band by the name of Korzus.
The group began life in 1983, coming from Brazil’s most populated city, São Paulo. They released their debut album two years later, which was something of an oddity as it was a live album, simply entitled, "Korzus Live," before their first studio full length, "Sonho Maníaco" followed two years later. It was a harsh album, exploring the darker side thrash much like Slayer, Possessed and Dark Angel had done before them, though their next release, "Pay For Your Lies," a six song EP, would feature a sound more akin to Bay Area thrash metal and has been cited as a stand out release in South American metal music.
