Gruesome Announces New Tour Dates
Death-saluting metal collective Gruesome will take to the streets next month on a short run of live performances.
Following an appearance at Obscene Extreme America Fest in Montreal next month, the band -- which features guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey (Exhumed), drummer Gus Rios (Malevolent Creation), guitarist Daniel Gonzalez (Possessed) and bassist Robin Mazen (Derketa) -- will kick off a mini tour in September. See confirmed dates below.
Issues Harvey of the trek, "We're beyond excited to finally take this beast out on the road and deliver some Schuldinerisms at full fucking volume to the folks out there. It's gonna be a blast to see the tunes come to, ahem, 'life' onstage and in the pit as well. See you there - bring beer!"
Gruesome pays homage to death metal's most celebrated founding American acts, Death. As such, the debut full-length "Savage Land" released earlier this year via Relapse Records is a delightfully punishing display of late-'80s/early-'90s Florida-styled death metal that keeps the true sound and spirit of Chuck Schuldiner and Death alive.

Your Chance To Die Vocalist Missing Upcoming Shows
South Carolina based melodic death metal band Your Chance To Die recently signed with worldwide booking agency Tone Deaf Touring and is about to embark on a 2-week United States stint.
Lead Vocalist Missi Avila will not be able to join her metal brothers on the road during this run, so stepping in will be Ex-Cerebral Bore vocalist Simone Pluijmers, who will be handling the duties of lead vocalist.
When asked about joining the band and touring for the first time since leaving Cerebral Bore, Simone stated: “It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the road as well as onstage, it’s time for me to climb back on that horse. Your Chance To Die is a great band, the people and the music, but unfortunately their vocalist Missy couldn’t make it for this one tour, so she hit me up to see if I would be interested. I honestly couldn’t have wished for better people to work with. They’re a real family and it’s an honor to be part of Your Chance To Die for these upcoming 2 weeks in August.”
Comments vocalist Missi Avila: “It's hard for me to have to give up the reins on this tour, but circumstances beyond my control have prevented me from being able to be a part of the tour this time. I am so thankful that Som has stepped up and agreed to do this tour for me. She is an incredible artist and has become a great friend as well. I know she will go above and beyond expectations and this will be an amazing tour for the band, as well as a chance for her fans to see her again.” More...
The Dillinger Escape Plan Working On Album
If you loved the holy living shit out of "One Of Us Is The Killer" (reviewed here) like we did (managing to make the runner-up spot for album of the year in our 2013 metal awards), you'll be pleased to know The Dillinger Escape Plan is well into the process of working on a new album.
Some info has now finally leaked through an interview with Ben Weinman conducted by TheRockPit.net. Excerpts from the interview follow.
TheRockPit: It's been about 2 years since the last album so are you guys maybe thinking of doing the next one?
Ben: Yeah we're already writing! We're well onto a new record and the writing process and we're going into the studio around November so we're already getting it going.
TheRockPit: So I guess with the success of the last album, do you feel any kind of pressure to maybe outdo that one?
Ben: I don't think we really try to think about it too much, we just start moving and start making stuff. It's like just take what you got and get to work and at some point you just got to write the first riff and not look back. We just want to make sure it always moves us, We're proud of pretty much every single thing we ever put out. We've always put 110% into it and we've always been the kind of band where some of our music may seem clever but that's not the most important part. The most important part is that it has emotion and energy so I like to think what differentiates us from some of the technical bands is that everything we do has to feel like it can't just be interesting, it actually has to move us. We have to be able to picture us playing it live and feeling it and so the carthartic nature of our music is the most important thing. So with that in mind it's not about beating something or topping it, it's about maintaining that level of emotion and really feeling or believing that we're creating something honest. And that's the challenge, we have to be in the right state of mind to do it, we can't just force it.
TheRockPit: How is the writing process for writing new music? Especially for you as the guitar player, how do you come up with ideas and is it a very collaborative effort with the whole band or do you do your own thing and then come together later on? More...
Watain Announces U.S. Tour With Mayhem
After a previous co-headlining tour with Mayhem back in January, Swedish black metal outfit Watain has announced a second leg of the trek, set to take place in November.
Featuring Rotting Christ as support, fans can expect another dose of wild blasphemy this winter. See below for all dates.
Watain will be touring in support of devastatingly awesome fifth full-length, "The Wild Hunt" (reviewed here), which was unleashed in 2013 worldwide via Century Media Records. The Black Metal Warfare tour part II will also be the final U.S. tour for "The Wild Hunt." Vocalist Erik comments:
"As with every album tour, it is always towards the end that the all the ingredients of our performances melt together properly and become most powerful. The Black Metal Warfare tour was a very special project for us and I am very pleased we get to end our Wild Hunt in the US with this second leg, with such a legendary package and in front of our ever faithful US militias!
"While Black Metal Warfare part II is of course a continuation of the first one, quite a few surprises can be expected, both in terms of the setlists as well as on the stage itself. All that is certain is that November shall wail and reek of burning, blistering, banging, bloody Black Metal War! A victorious ending before it's time to yet again embark on the ever winding paths into the great unknown..." More...
Amok Re-Issuing "Necrospiritual Deathcore"
Edged Circle Productions is proud to present a special vinyl edition of a true cult classic, "Necrospiritual Deathcore" from Norway's Amok (not to be confused with the Swiss, Croatian, German, or Italian bands of the same name).
This new edition of "Necrospiritual Deathcore" will drop on September 25th. Originally released in 2006 on Mysticum's Planet Satan Revolution label, "Necrospiritual Deathcore" was a true black sheep amongst a new rising wave of black metal at the time with its beguiling, oft-blitzkrieging panoply of primitive blackgrind at half-speed, clattering deathrash warped into psychedelic shapes, and industrial-revolutionized music.
With nearly a decade for the metal underground to catch up to this album's innovations and general fuck-off stature, Edged Circle Productions is releasing "Necrospiritual Deathcore" in a vinyl edition limited to 500 copies, pressed on picture disc with regular picture sleeve and including a 24" x 24" full-color poster. The track listing is:
1. Necropsy Cunt
2. Geitehelvete
3. Channelling Black Horns
4. Effective Mass-Torture
5. Organ Ejaculator
6. Providentialism
7. Postapokalyptisk Korstog

Autumns Eyes Offering Discography For Download
After what seemed like an eternity that would make even Dracula impatient, the Autumns Eyes website is finally back online. Band mastermind Dan Mitchell comments:
"Since I am a one man band who doesn’t play live shows, the website acts as a breeding ground for all things heavy metal, halloween, and horror movie related.
"Once I started writing more articles that tickled fans morbid curiosity, the view count grew faster than Jason’s body count. In order to appease the filthy web gods, the site has been redesigned to adapt to whatever bloodsucking device your black little heart desires. That means desktop, tablet, and smartphone users can all play nice together without ripping their lungs out.
"I started this whole mess with Autumns Eyes over fifteen years ago, and what began as a small hobby has turned into an epic empire of unfathomable propo…okay maybe not that big, but its definitely turned into something larger than I ever imagined.
"As a huge thank you to all the twisted people who shared what I love with the rest of the world, Im offering up the entire Autumns Eyes discography for free download. Just visit Bandcamp here to grab these free metal albums before they disappear!"

Rob Halford Discusses Lady Gaga Collaboration
In a recent radio interview with Scot Fox (97.9 WCPR Rocks), Rob Halford of Judas Priest discussed his love of playing classic songs live and his hope to one day collaborate with none other than Lady Gaga. You can hear the 8+ minute interview below, while relevant excerpts from Halford follow:
"I was in a hotel in London the other day and Gaga was two floors above me. Needless to say, security was really, really tight. We didn't really get to see each other again that day, 'cause she was super busy.
"But let me tell you: that lady is a heavy metal maniac. She loves Priest, she loves Maiden, she loves Motrhead, all of these kinds of heavy metal bands that have been roaring on throughout the decades; she's a big fan.
"When I met her, I think it was last year in San Diego, where I'm hanging out these days, we immediately bonded. She's just this wonderfully talented lady with a spectacular voice. More...
Meatwound Releases "Funeral State" Video
The Florida-based destroyers from Meatwound have let their new video for the caustic "Funeral State" track off the chain as the "Addio" debut LP intoxicates the population via Magic Bullet Records this week. Check out the video below.
The band's debut LP, "Addio" was recorded with Dan Byer at Rock Garden Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida, mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Sound, and bears artwork by Chris Norris.

Exmortus Finishes Album, Announces New Shows
Slaves not only to the sword, but the road as well, the Los Angeles-based metal act Exmortus refuses to rest and just announced a fall tour in support of Marty Friedman on the legendary guitarist’s first North American tour in 12 years.
The 21-date tour will kick off in Baltimore on Sept. 9. Says guitarist David Rivera, “This tour is going to be insane! Touring with one of my idols is unreal!“
But that’s not all, folks: the band will continue to shred faces and guitars alike as while sampling new material from an upcoming album — which was recently completed recording at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California with Zack Ohren (Suffocation, Immolation).
Exmortus' forthcoming album will mark the band’s sophomore release for Prosthetic Records, and the follow-up to 2014's “Slave to the Sword.” It sees the addition of bassist Michael Cosio (ex-Abysmal Dawn) to the group’s existing line-up of Conan (vocals/guitars), Mario Moreno (drums) and Rivera.
Moreno commented on the new album,“Writing and recording this record was no easy task, but we got through it and are extremely happy with the end result. It’s a ‘metal buffet’ with a little something for everyone to enjoy. Getting the chance to record with Zack again was great, especially to be tracking in a bigger studio than the last album. A tedious process but fulfilling none the less. Hard to believe we spent half a month tracking for this album. I’m confident in saying that this is the best Exmortus album to date. You can groove, headbang and air guitar to it, what’s not to love!?” More...

The Bunny The Bear Streams Full Album
The Bunny The Bear is now streaming sixth album, "A Liar Wrote This," in the YouTube playlist below. The album pushes the band’s previously experimental post-hardcore sound into all sorts of new areas, and you can thank new vocalist Haley Roback for this development - she’s the first-ever female “Bear” to be in the band.
The album ping-pongs from R&B to screamo and stops at all points in between in typically bizarre The Bunny The Bear fashion. Vocalist Matt “The Bunny” Tybor comments on the album:
“’A Liar Wrote This’ has already taken a very special place in my heart. I am extremely proud of the hard work put in by all involved, especially Haley, my new ‘Bear.’ It was wonderful working with my long-time friend and producer Doug White, and I couldn’t be more confident with the new direction we’ve taken. We didn’t want to shut fans out by doing a 180-degree change, but the vigor Haley brings definitely earns its place on ‘A Liar Wrote This.’”
