Tyranny Streaming "Sunless Deluge"

"Aeons In Tectonic Interment" is the long-awaited new studio offering from Finnish funeral doom duo, Tyranny.

Slated for release via Dark Descent Records next month, the band's first proper recording in a decade spews forth five sickly psalms of slow, tortured, epically soul-consuming grimness.

As a precursor to its impending detonation, today the lumbering, near-eleven-minute crush of opening hymn "Sunless Deluge" is available online for streaming. The "Aeons In Tectonic Interment" track listing is as follows:

1. Sunless Deluge
2. A Voice Given Unto Ruin
3. Preparation Of A Vessel
4. The Stygian Enclave
5. Bells Of The Black Basilica More...

Coheed And Cambria Releases New Video

Man, don't you hate it when you have to run naked through the halls of your high school? It's time for some rad times at Amory High with this new video clip for Coheed And Cambria's "You Got Spirit, Kid."

The clip, an homage to ‘80s teen movies, is available below. Front man Claudio Sanchez comments: “Our video for ‘You Got Spirit, Kid’ gave us a chance to showcase a relaxed side of the band’s personality. With our love for ‘80s nostalgia, we decided to approach the treatment in a John Hughes or Steven Spielberg type fashion, allowing the spirit of youth and camaraderie to shine in each frame.”

The clip, which was directed by DJay Brawner (Refused, Grouplove), follows the band while taking down a group of school bullies through a series of pranks. The band's new album "The Color Before The Sun" will drop October 16, 2015 through 300 Entertainment. More...

Thy Catafalque Releasing New Album "Sgùrr"

Thy Catafalque - the progressive/avant-garde metal project of Hungarian mastermind Tamás Kátai - has announced the release date for a new album titled "Sgùrr." The album, written by, and recorded almost in it's entirety by Kátai, will be released internationally by Season of Mist on October 16, 2015.

The first taste of the new album, an ambitious folk-tinged track titled "Alföldi Kozmosz," is now available for streaming below. Regarding the new track, Kátai comments:

"This is a quite spontaneous song, recorded in my childhood room with my old, 10-dollar classical guitar while visiting home in Hungary. Violin is similarly off-handed, played by my Greek friend, Dimitris Papageorgiou. There's no vocals, only music depicting my love towards the Great Hungarian Plain where I was born and raised. Or home. Hence the title: Lowland Cosmos.

"The title of the album is from Scottish Gaelic meaning the top of a mountain but most of the songs are equally about water, mountains, their relationship and symbols attached to them, inspired by the Scottish Highlands and weirdly the Hungarian Lowlands. There's not much vocals at all, and when there is, it's not pleasant. Music is mostly unfriendly, bristly and cold compared to the previous albums. I guess it's more metal this time." More...

This Gift Is A Curse Reveals New Album Details

The Swedish black metal instigators from This Gift Is A Curse have announced the title and album details for their Season of Mist debut, "All Hail the Swinelord." The band's new full-length will be released internationally on October 16, 2015.

The scathing track "Swinelord" can also be heard below. Regarding the new album, This Gift Is A Curse comments:

"When entering the studio, we were determined not to repeat what was done on previous recordings - instead we wanted to broaden our spectra of sound, making it even more dark and vicious at the same time letting melodies have a place as well as suggestive drone soundscapes. To be able to push our boundaries even further, we borrowed hands from fellow musicians, whom we had gotten to know during the years.

"This album thus contains guest vocals by Lillie Lindahl (Promise and the Monster, Stiu Nu Stiu), Johan G. Winther (Scraps of Tape) and Christina lom (Agrimonia). Their talent added a new dimension to the songs and to the album as an entity.

"The name of the record is 'All Hail the Swinelord,' and the record itself is a thematic album about the self-inflicted process of dehumanization and the loss of all notions of what we consider existence. A metaphysical and ritual guideline for the crossing of the final threshold. Into the shadows, to touch His black crown…" More...

Soilwork Posts New Song

Leading up to the August 28, 2015 release date of new album "The Ride Majestic," today Soilwork drops another song from the band's impending 10th album.

Check out “Enemies in Fidelity” via the the YouTube player provided below. Vocalist Bjorn “Speed” Strid comments:

“'Enemies in Fidelity' is indeed a very melodic and atmospheric beast. This was one of the first songs that I wrote for the new album and it holds a lot of surprises. The chorus almost sounds as if Simon and Garfunkel started a black metal band. That's the way we like it - playful, dark, intense and melancholic. It definitely stands out, but also gives you an overall idea of what Soilwork currently is about.

"The lyrics deal with whether you should escape or succumb to the suffering that you might experience in your life, in order to find new strength. The ambivalence. The guilt and the respect towards your own existence. Being awakened and finding satisfaction through frustration and anger, to a point where it almost becomes addictive. Enjoy!”

A preview containing snippets of all the album's tracks also recently came online and is available right here. More...

Mantric Commits Some "Sin"

Mantric is an experimental prog trio from Oslo, Norway comprised of three-fifths of Extol: vocalist/guitarist Ole Sveen, guitarist/vocalist Tor Glidje and bassist/vocalist John Mjåland.

The three have been playing together for more than 20 years now, first in progressive black-metal group Lengsel, then in prog-metal innovators Extol, having contributed to the band’s classic album “The Blueprint Dives,” before disbanding in 2007.

Formed in that same year, Mantric picks up where they left off on “The Blueprint Dives,” determined to push boundaries and avoid easy categorization. The band’s debut album under the name Mantric, “The Descent”, was released in 2010 and clearly reflects such unbreakable artistic vision, fusing a unique, experimental metal sound with some challenging and powerful proggy tones, though this new incarnation sounds more refined and cultivated than before.

Now five years later, Mantric is set to return with a second full-length titled “Sin," due out September 25, 2015. The track listing is: More...
