After appearing in the seventh and final season of Sons Of Anarchy, shock rock icon Marilyn Manson will team up again with fellow Sons Of Anarchy actor Mark Boone Junior (who played Robert "Bobby" Munson) for an upcoming movie titled "Let Me Make You A Martyr."
Manson is slated to portray a Native American hit man. According to an advance plot synopsis, the flick will be "a cerebral revenge film about two adopted siblings who fall in love, and hatch a plan to kill their abusive father."
More info about the movie can be found in the clip below, or you can see a new teaser trailer by heading to Rollingstone.com here.
On the music front, Manson recently released a music video for "Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge" - check it out at this location.
Following Emperor's "In The Nightside Eclipse" 20th anniversary shows, Ihsahn announced he was getting back to work on new solo material and would be doing new live shows without his usual backing band Leprous.
One of those shows took place in Canada recently at Heavy Montreal, where Ihsahn unveiled a new track titled "My Heart Is Of The North." Give it a listen below (thanks to Metal Injection). While there's some odd proggy psychedelia, it sounds like this one won't be the unlistenable overly experimental train wreck that was "Das Seelenbrechen" (reviewed here).
All Them Witches, the Nashville heavy psych-rock quartet, will release "Dying Surfer Meets His Maker" on October 30 via New West Records.
You can also check out the new track "Dirt Preachers" below. The song is one of the nine tracks recorded during the band’s seclusion at a remote cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
“You couldn’t hardly walk in there, dodging cables, mics and guitars,” Parks says of the small space, “the cabin was a wreck. We immediately got up there, unloaded our 15 seater van and a trailer packed to the brim with gear, and started moving things around, set up amps, and a mixing board.”
They recorded much of the album live, but used the studio as an instrument in itself, helmed by producer Mikey Allred and McLeod. The location, Parks says, also had an influence on the feel of the album. “Pigeon Forge is tourist central, with Dollywood and moonshine distilleries, pancake houses, and Christmas stores. But our cabin was up on the mountain. We were the only ones there. We didn’t have to worry about anyone calling us in for being loud. It was quiet. In the morning, the mist would be hanging over the city, then it would clear up and you’d see all these terrible tourist shops. It was nice to know we didn’t have to be a part of it. There’s a duality that happens throughout this record, that of the solitude of the mountain and the absolute Babylon that is Pigeon Forge.”

On September 25, Horse Head will release new EP "Missionary," consisting of 4 tracks that straddle the line between doom and sludge, and is highly recommended for fans of Unsane, Eyehategod, and YOB.
Horse Head formed in 2011 after Chris Gisriel and a few other members dissolved the band Nataraja, allowing for a new project with Wilson Hensleigh as lead guitarist and Andrew Parker on the drums.
A self-titled demo was released within two years, which was well-received by the Arizona metal community and sparked more writing and live performances at a long list of venues in multiple Arizona cities. After the revolution of a few members, Horse Head reduced its ranks to three: Wilson Hensleigh, Andrew Parker, and Chris Gisriel. The new EP's track listing is:
2. Red-eyed Angel
3. Whiskey and Blood
4. Destroyer Television More...

Last month we premiered Dark Hound's full "Oceans" EP (still available for streaming here), which dropped on July 10th. Now the band has checked in with the following announcement about a lineup change:
"Elliot Gordon has unexpectedly left the band. We wish him all the best and he has our unwavering support in whatever his future endeavors may be. We have all played with him for many years, we’re very sad to see him go and will always cherish the memories we’ve made together; but what rocks must keep rolling.
"We have a handful of shows booked (tomorrow night! Foobar!) and will most definitely be playing those (as a 3-piece, for now). It may be a little different and a bit strange, but we’re still going to rock your faces off with the same quality you’ve come to expect from us. We will not be booking any more shows until we find and get settled with the right replacement, which hopefully will not take us long.
"We appreciate you bearing with us as we figure out how to overcome this little bump in the road, and as soon as there’s news to share regarding a new guitar player we’ll let you know! We hope to see you out at Foobar tomorrow night for Palaver Thursday along with Howling Giant, The Common Tiger, and Murder City. It’s gonna be a rager!!! Onwards and upwards, thank you all." More...
British metal band Bullet For My Valentine premieres today a rowdy new video for latest song “Army of Noise,” taken from the band’s forthcoming album "Venom," due out August 14 via RCA Records. Check it out below.
The video for “Army of Noise” was shot in July during the band’s headline tour of South America in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Columbia. Montréal-based death metal band Krokmitën is now entering into production for third full-length album "Heta" (previously announced with the title "Dominon"). Frontman Simlev released this update about the upcoming offering:
"Hey Metalheads! A lot has happened since January. We worked super hard on this album’s songwriting, arrangements and on pushing Dominion's concept even further. Sadly, and with only a few minutes left to be written on the album, drummer Lupiaan made the decision to leave Krokmitën. Lupiaan contributed so much to Dominion that I didn't feel comfortable releasing this concept without him so I shelved it. That's how and why Heta came to life.
"It's important to understand that when working on studio projects as challenging as a Krokmitën album, there’s a lot of roadblocks, mainly being time, energy and of course money. As independent artists, we make music for ourselves first. Since we insist on offering the albums for free, we need day jobs to support this passion! By working regular jobs during the day we have financial stability in our personal lives and further we’re completely independent from the music industry's negative influences. It's however an enormous challenge, juggling with those roadblocks. More...
ProgPower USA promoter Glenn Harveston announced that Andorra's Persefone is the latest band to be cancelled from the 2015 roster, in part due to visa issues. The USCIS has reared its ugly head causing the most issues since 2009 for the annual festival.
Harveston explains: "Unfortunately, this situation is not a simple as the Morgana Lefay cancellation, although the visa process is once again at the root of things. It is no secret now the USCIS center in Vermont is running 4-6 weeks behind their normal schedule assuming there is no RFE (request for evidence). We technically still have three weeks we can wait to receive these visas and then schedule the mandatory interviews. However, Persefone booked a European tour in June with the assumption they would have completed the interviews prior to kicking off their tour. They cannot complete any interviews while on tour. I requested they wait until after the tour and then complete the interviews as there was still possibly time. I was informed the day job of one of the band members prevents him from traveling to Madrid during that time frame, especially with no specific date to schedule currently. Thus, I am left with no choice but to cancel the band now.
"I know these types of explanations are frustrating to you, the fans. There is simply nothing that can be done. In the immortal words of the great American poet, Jimmy Buffett, 'Breathe in..Breathe Out..Move On.' Please know that there is no animosity between the band and myself. I truly understand and empathize with their situation. I wish the band nothing but the best and will continue to support them in the future."
Within hours of the announcement, Canada's Unleash the Archers was added to the bill. The latest roster list is as follows: More...

D.C. area metal act A Sound of Thunder released a cover of Manowar's "Pleasure Slave," a gender reversal twist with vocalist Nina Osegueda belting out "Man.....be my slave." The song will be made available to Kickstarter backers on the band's ongoing crowd funding campaign for the upcoming new album "Tales From the Deadside," due out on September 25th via the band's very own Mad Neptune Records.
As if Manowar wasn't controversial enough among metal heads, the song "Pleasure Slave," a bonus track from Manowar's sixth album "Kings of Metal," is infamous for its lyrical content. "Joey DeMaio wrote one of the most hilariously sexist songs of all time," stated Osegueda. "And that's cool, but turnabout is fair play. This one's for you, Joey!"
"There is no greater joy than taking a hilariously misogynistic piece of music and turning it upside-down," Osegueda continued. "The composition itself is great, but I always wanted it to be a little faster. The vocals were a challenge, but I had fun using my low register more than usual. As for the background vocals, we had a great time recording a bunch of our male fans making horrible orgasm noises. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life!"
A Sound of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz also commented on the track: "Ironically, this song has probably given me more pleasure over the years than any other. The lyrics are so ridiculously over the top, and Eric Adams delivers them with such conviction, that I can't help but crack up when I hear it...we are talking laughing so hard I'd be in tears sometimes! So full disclosure: we actually love Manowar and embrace their cheese, and just thought it would be fun to turn this one on its head. Our fans paid for the production of this song so we're releasing it for free to the whole world to hopefully spread some smiles and laughter. Hail, kill, and enjoy!"
