Shrapnel Parts With Drummer
U.K. metal outfit Shrapnel just issued the following statement about parting ways with the band's drummer and bringing on a new bassist:
"Due to both personal and professional clashes our drummer Simon is no longer in the band. We're not going to start airing dirty laundry online but the rest of the band are more fired up than ever and are looking forward to playing with someone new.
"On another note: we want to welcome Cai to the band. He has stepped in and learnt everything super fast. He's an insanely great finger player and we're excited to move forward with our new album and live shows with Cai on bass.
"All dates booked are still covered and we can't wait to play some new material for you guys.
We are looking for a permanent drummer, so if you're up for it send us a message, video or link etc.
"Onwards and upwards and ... thrash."

He Whose Ox Is Gored Streams New Track
"The Camel, The Lion, The Child" is the eight-track, near hour-long sound excursion from Seattle-based progressive doomgaze collective, He Whose Ox Is Gored.
In advance of its official release via Bleeding Light Records on October 9, today the song "Omega" comes online and can be heard below. Elaborates keyboardist/vocalist Lisa Mungo of the hymn:
"'Many heavy things are there for the spirit, the strong load-bearing spirit in which reverence dwelleth: for the heavy and the heaviest longeth its strength.' 'Omega' kicks off the record conceptually, by taking only a few liberties unheard in prior releases. Placed first, her form ties together our past and present works rather effortlessly, and her temperament pays homage to the overall theme."

Of Feather And Bone Streaming "Calloused Embrace"
A new Of Feather And Bone track, "Calloused Embrace," just came online from the band's Good Fight Music debut, "Embrace the Wretched Flesh," which is coming September 18, 2015.
Of Feather And Bone makes music shrouded in gray clouds of gloom – it drives, it rips, it settles into devastating breakdowns. A perfect representation of the album, "Calloused Embrace" begins as a bitter, blasting, crust-grind assault and descends into a crushing metallic hardcore jam.
New full-length "Embrace the Wretched Flesh" was recorded by Andy Patterson (Cult Leader, Call of the Void, SubRosa). You can also catch the band live on these upcoming dates: More...

Sunday Old School: Cryptopsy
Despite my recent live report in which I stated my disappointment with Cryptopsy during their show with Brujeria, it would be most remiss of me to ignore their contributions to the death metal genre. The group are one of the most influential names in the field of technical death metal, along with the likes of Atheist and Pestilence and have a rich catalogue of brutality behind them, so today we're going to be looking at Cryptopsy, one of the of the most hailed extreme metal acts to ever come out of Canada.
The band began life under the name Necrosis, with the original members consisting of vocalist, dan Greening, who became better known to fans as, "Lord Worm," drummer Mike Atkin and guitarist Steve Thibault, before they brought in bassist, John Todds. Under their original moniker, the band recorded the demos, "Mastication and Heterodontis" and "Realms Of Pathogenia," before a self-titled demo was released in 1992, the year the group performed their first live show and changed their name to the now familiar, Cryptopsy. Shortly after this, Atkin left the and was replaced by Flo Mounier, a recommendation of John Todds, who himself would leave before long, with Kevin Weagle entering the fold as the new bassist, while Dave Galea joined as a second guitarist.
