Vhol Announces "Deeper Than Sky" Release
This fall, Profound Lore Records will unveil the sophomore full-length "Deeper Than Sky" from psychedelic thrash unit, Vhol.
The seven-track follow up to 2013's self-titled debut was captured at Light Rail Studios and mastered at Trakworx Studio, both in San Francisco, and boasts the cosmic cover creation of Brandon Duncan.
"We recorded this album at Light Rail Studios, in a huge room on a beautiful 1970 Trident console onto Jerry Garcia's 2" tape deck. One cannot escape the Grateful Dead in San Francisco recording studios -- their gear is all over town," elaborates the band of the recording process. "The mixing was rather primitive with no plug-ins and all effects were done by old pedals, tape echo, and large reverb plates. Another thing that was large and huge during recording was our bass player who was eight-and-a-half months pregnant at the time."

War Baby commented: "'Death Sweats' is the audio equivalent of a chemical imbalance in the brain. This album to us is equal parts fear of the dark and disgust for the morning light....the very thought of being fully aware is terrifying...survival can mean many things; 'Death Sweats' is one of them. Believing in yourself when no else does will make you sweat. Believing in everyone else and not yourself will give you 'Death Sweats.'"

Analepsy Streaming "Dehumanization By Supremacy"
Analepsy's "Dehumanization By Supremacy" is out now via Rotten Cemetery Records, and can be picked up in digital or physical formats through Bandcamp here. The full album is also available for streaming below, while the following press release was issued:
"Brutal death metal has basically stood for evolution. It's the next-gen death metal and veritably so. As long as the essence is retained, there's nothing wrong with it. Suffocation did it about 25 years back. It's time we accept the style for what it offers.
"Analepsy from Portugal is keeping it slick, slammy and wicked - while not abandoning the Putrid Pile crossed with Disgorge template. It's the next level in ultra brutality. It's the kind of music that slaughters people standing. It's like an alien-attack on the masses - it sure sounds like that. Resistance is futile.
"This one makes bands like Devourment seem ancient. It's that kind of sci-fi next-gen brutality that just leaves you agape. It's for the fans of Abominable Putridity, 7.H Target and Disgorge with blinding speed, roaring mechanized slams and indecipherable alien vocals. Analepsy delivers without relying on undue hype and attractive artworks - it's a real gem, making its way up, slicing everyone, torching them passive with its sheer prowess and incisive output." Sadistik Exekution Releasing 30th Anniversary Comp
One of the most vile and tormented sounds to ever exist is the “mental metal musik” belonging to none other than the now-infamous Sadistik Exekution of Sydney, Australia.
Although these lunatiks gained much of their notoriety from their full-length albums, the full scope of Sadistik Exekution's unforgiving violence cannot be entirely appreciated without proper exposure to the atrocities committed on their demos and EPs.
Nuclear War Now! Productions has conspired with none other than Dave Slave himself to dig up several of these wretched slabs of audio torment and once again offer them posthumously to any who dare expose themselves to such vileness.
Set for international release on October 15, the LP release of "30 Years of Agonizing the Dead" (AKA “Sadistik Exekution’s Shittest Hits”) compiles two of these demos – "Agonizing the Dead" (1992) and "Suspiral" (1991) – as well as two EP singles – "Demon with Wings" (1996) and "Sadistik Elektrocution" (1997) – for your listening displeasure. Also included is a 20-page booklet featuring incriminating band photos from the era, the unmistakably demented artwork of Rok, and a recent, never-before-seen interview with Mental Metalkutioner, Dave Slave. The track listing is:
1. Agonizing the Dead
2. Magus
3. Suspiral
4. Ipsissimus
5. Proxima Centauri
6. Demon with Wings
7. Sadistik Elektrokution (Bastard Mix)

Cold Northern Vengeance Unveils The "Maelstrom"
Moribund Records is proud to present Cold Northern Vengeance's second album, "Maelstrom," with the label commenting:
"The Pagan/Viking metal berserkers from Cold Northern Vengeance create kaleidoscopic landscapes of majesty and melancholy, storm and shelter. The vision of chieftain Heathen, 'Maelstrom' picks up where 2008's cult classic 'Domination and Servitude' left off: rolling, roiling layers of mystifying, hypnotizing tones, all harnessed in a revelatory and Odinistic manner.
"But here, Cold Northern Vengeance digs deeper into their pagan roots, plumbing the dark, alluring depths for a resonance rarely found in American metal. Like a communique sent from another, far-distant time, Maelstrom verily becomes its title and transports the listener away from reality and into a dream-like Valhalla, both splendorous and sinister. Northern sonic craftsmanship that nods to what Viking metal art should be - submit to Cold Northern Vengeance's 'Maelstrom!'" More...
Earthside Releasing "A Dream In Static"
New Haven-based progressive ensemble Earthside will release debut album, "A Dream in Static," on October 23.
Earthside has also now revealed the music video for "Mob Mentality," featuring guest vocals from Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon and a full orchestral arrangement composed by guitarist Jamie van Dyck and performed by the Moscow Studio Symphony Orchestra (MSSO). Check out the new music video, directed by Patrick Kendall, in the player below.
"Making this video was a fulfilling process because as such a transdisciplinary project, it crossed our paths with talented individuals across the arts," van Dyck explained. "We worked with dancers, choreographers, directors, editors, colorists, professional orchestral musicians, a conductor, an orchestra contractor, a wardrobe/costume person, and of course a rock star vocalist. Involving all these people in our art reaffirmed the value of what we're doing and sets the stage for the collaborative spirit we hope to continue to embody as we reach across the arts into the worlds of film, dance, video games, and other visual arts."
An epic undertaking of cross-continental collaborations, "A Dream in Static" was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden under the watch of producer and mix engineer, David Castillo (Opeth, Katatonia, Bloodbath), and additional mix and mastering engineer, Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, The Ocean, Devin Townsend). Abhorrent Decimation Posts Album Trailer
After releasing initial details and an artwork trailer for new album "Miasmic Mutation," U.K. death metal band Abhorrent Decimation has now unleashed a full music trailer for the release, available below.
"Miasmic Mutation" was recorded and engineered by David Archer in the U.K. before making its way to Sweden to be mixed & mastered by sound wizard Ronnie Björnström (Aeon, Apostasy, Bodyfarm, Krow).
The band enlisted renowned Swedish artist Pär Olofsson to complete the "Miasmic Mutation" artwork, famed for his work with bands such as Bloodshot Dawn, Exodus, Hour Of Penance and Revocation to name a few.
Vocalist Ashley Scott recently shared some thoughts on the album: “The [Miasmic Mutation] material pushed us into a darker and heavier sounding place and I know this record will live up to and supersede all expectations. I am so proud of what we have achieved."
Speaking of the title, Ashley adds, "You can interpret this entity as you see fit. As for what the mutation signifies, I had just finished reading Dante’s 'The Divine Comedy' again and was really into the notion of personal exile and the journey of life in general, how we develop through age and learning, etc. The record addresses life, death and the afterlife. The mutation itself is a personification of my thoughts, encompassing all these notions of life, death and the afterlife." More...

Hooded Menace Issues Preview Clip For New Release
Finnish doom/death act Hooded Menace is back with a "four monstrous slabs of melodic, funereal devastation" on the new release "Darkness Drips Forth." A preview clip for the album can be heard in the player below. The album drops via Relapse Records on October 30th. Pre-orders can be made at this location.
Recorded and mixed by Chris Fielding (Electric Wizard, Primordial, etc), the band employs a new approach on their latest effort, expanding the writing across four mammothly dense tracks that nearly all exceed ten minutes a piece. Cavernous vocals preside over Lasse Pyykko's rocky riffs, while the band’s unshakable rhythmic core provides a grim backbone for the record. The hint of melody Hooded Menace sought back in their earliest days has fully blossomed into an essential element of the band’s music; "Darkness Drips Forth" is as melodic as it is devastating and as emotionally disquieting as it is thematically stirring. Funereal, deliberate, and unhurried, "Darkness Drips Forth" is sure to be an essential acquisition for fans of crushing doom and old-school death metal alike. Hooded Menace deliver a gruesomely glorious treat just in time for Halloween! More...
