It should come as no surprise that Lychgate's "An Antidote For The Glass Pill" (reviewed here) offers a claustrophobic, disturbing experience considering the album's themes are based around prisons - both physical and of the mind.
The U.K. metal band's new album drops through Blood Music on August 18, with a digital version already available on a name-your-price basis via Bandcamp here.
Wanting to find out how Lychgate produced such an authentic and moody pipe organ sound across the album, we got in touch with the band for a new in-depth interview available below. Read on to find out about the band's new custom guitar, how Lychgate's sound translates to the live experience, and more. More...

British progressive metal heroes Threshold have revealed first details on the upcoming new double live album "European Journey," which was recorded at various venues across Europe during November of 2014 in support of current studio album "For The Journey."
"European Journey" contains 15 live tracks and will be released as a 2-CD digipak on November 13. Richard West comments:
"We had a fantastic tour playing so many fan favorites going back to '97 with 'Part Of The Chaos' through 'Mission Profile,' 'Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams,' to the present day with 'The Box.' We recorded some shows along the way and it's turned into this really powerful double album."
Karl Groom adds: "Threshold continue to enjoy fantastic support from our loyal fans. The band have always enjoyed mixing with the people who listen to our music and this tour was no exception." More...
Nile just released a lyric video for the track "Evil To Cast Out Evil," taken from impending full-length album "What Should Not Be Unearthed," due out August 28 through Nuclear Blast. Mastermind Karl Sanders states:
"Out of sheer appreciation for our fans, who have unequivocally made known their demands ; the members of Nile have agreed to release a second preview track from our upcoming 'What Should Not be Unearthed' album.
"The song is called 'Evil to Cast out Evil.\ This lyric video comes without a prefaced disclaimer, or warning label, as it seems that some listeners / viewers completely ignore them anyway, and are determined to glean whatever random arbitrary messages from the song they damn well please. Well, OK, we understand - music and music videos are inherently artistic by nature, and are therefore OF COURSE subject to interpretation by the audience.
"But don’t say we didn’t warn you. The danger this time is not from radical terrorists, religious fanatics, left wing apologist sympathizers, self-important music critics, or right wing ultra-nationalists deliberately misinterpreting our music - hell bent on imposing Fox News ideology upon unsuspecting music fans.
"No, the danger this time is to your mortal soul. If upon hearing this song, you insist on repeated listens, or interminably bang your head, or even feel compelled against your will to sing along with this uber catchy metal anthem; then don’t blame us if you wake up the next morning with your head spinning around backwards, hurling green vomit, walking down stairs upside down on all fours like an inverted spider, or speaking to your Mom in a cookie monster voice at the breakfast table, or otherwise channeling the possessed spirit of Linda Blair. You have been sufficiently warned. Have a nice day and see you on tour!" More...
Abbath may have departed to form a new self-titled band, but Immortal soldiers on!
Norway’s unstoppable black metal force has been busy working on new material, with members Demonaz and Horgh having gone through legal processes this past year to retain the band's name and logo. Nuclear Blast had this to say:
"In October 2014, ex-Immortal singer/guitarist Abbath (Olve Eikemo) filed an trademark application for registration of the brand Immortal to Patentstyret (Norwegian Industrial Property Office) without informing the other band members. The band's core members Horgh and Demonaz were forced to seek legal help to counter this. The trademark application from Eikemo was not approved and was denied registered on July 21st, 2015. Eikemo has left Immortal to start his new band." More...
Even more of a gimmick than Ghost and Lordi combined, the all Ned Flanders-themed band Okilly Dokilly has officially hit the world stage today. They all dress like Ned, they are all named Ned, and they scream Flanders quotes in their songs.
I'll let you listen in below to the world's only "nedal" band and decide for yourself if the music is worth hearing and if the group lives up to the hype that's spontaneously generated today. The "Okilly Dokilly" demo's track listing is:
1. They Warned Me 03:10
2. Nothing At All 02:13
3. Press Destruct Button 03:03
4. All That Is Left 03:25
Following last year's "A Disturbing Awakening" release, AraPacis has now announced an upcoming new album titled "System Deceive." The band comments:
"So here we go, a breakdown and the cover of the next album 'System Deceive\ (art by the very talented Emilio Arostegui)! About 2-3 months to completion of recording. Left to go: drums for one song, and a bunch of other instruments for The Unknown. Then vocals!
"This album will be more guitar-oriented with less keyboards which will be there for mood effects more than up front. We are so very excited about it all, especially the fabulous work by the solid rhythm section of John Gallagher and Marc Retson!
"The album will be in memory of our friend and guest keyboard player Guy LeBlanc 1960-2015." More...
For years, Tad Morose has been a mainstay on the Swedish metal scene, revered for the band's stellar combination of power riffs enveloped in progressive overtones. Albums like "A Mended Rhyme" (1997), "Leaving the Past Behind" (1993) and "Modus Vivendi" (2003) are only some of the critically acclaimed masterworks.
Over the years, the band has brought forth some of metal's strongest vocalists with Kristian Andrén (ex-Bloodbound/ex-Wuthering Heights) from 1993-1995 and Urban Breed (Serious Black/Project Arcadia) from 1995-2005 leading the way. From 2004 until 2013, the band activities were minimal and then with the addition of Ronny Hemlin (Inmoria/ex-Steel Attack) the band re-emerged from its slumber with a more stripped down metallic riff assault on 2013's "Revenant" (see review here).
Now less than two years later - and along that same path - the band presents its newest studio offering "St. Demonius" (available August 28th via Despotz Records). Metal Underground.com caught up with guitarist/songwriter Christer "Krunt" Andersson to talk about the new album and the meaning behind its ominous name. More...
Following a hilariously baffling Larry King appearance, Steel Panther will headline a night of rockstars hitting the stage at the Whisky A Go-Go on August 17th to raise money for a sweet little girl named Charlotte. Pick up your tickets at this location.
This is a special night not only for Charlotte but also to Phil X (Bon Jovi) and his wife Lindy. “Both Christine and my wife Lindy were pregnant at the same time,” explains Phil X. “When Charlotte was diagnosed with leukemia we felt that helping this little girl we care about to get the proper care – Well, we just knew it was the right thing to do. People need to know about childhood leukemia. It is devastating for a family.”
Charlotte, who is only 20 months old, will require 2 years of chemo. Phil X called upon his friends to help get this benefit together. Actor/Director Greg Grunberg (Heroes/Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will host this night of all-stars: Steel Panther, Phil X & The Drills (Phil X/Bon Jovi, Randy Cooke/Ringo Starr & Daniel Spree), and Richie Kotzen Trio and The Barb Wire Dolls opening.
The guests that are jumping in with The Drills are Billy Sheehan (Winery Dogs/Mr. Big), Matt Starr (Ace Frehely/Mr. Big), dUg Pinnick (King’s X) and Brian Tichy (Dead Daisies/ Moby Dicks/Foreigner), Marq Torien (Bulletboys) and Scotti Hill (Skid Row).

1. Price Of Immortality
2. Darkness Bites
3. What I Will
4. The Leader
5. Little Children More...

In a move the band and press writers must have been eagerly awaiting since Ghost's inception, the band led by anti-pop Papa Emeritus III has reschedule show due to....wait for it... an actual papal visit! The band comments:
"We wish to inform you that due to Frankie's visit next month in Philadelphia, we received a letter informing us that Ghost fans would not be able to use public transportation or park their cars next Union Transfer.
"In hopes to ensure that each and every Ghost fan can attend this show, we have decided to move the Philadelphia concert at Union Transfer to Tuesday, September 29th. Tickets are still valid."
Weirdly, there is an entire website dedicated to just this one visit by Pope Francis (or "Frankie" as Ghost puts it) - if you feel the need to hear an old guy in a funny hat who's never had sex tell you how to live, details are available over here.

Remember the vegan black metal chef? He's finally crowd funding a new cookbook with a twist - every recipe will have a full video. You can contribute to the campaign via Kickstarter here, and the chef himself comments:
"It is time to summon the greatest do-able vegan cookbook of all time. This will be an ultra visual, multimedia cookbook to teach amazing vegan cooking with a fist full of metal. Each and every recipe in the book will have an accompanying video. You will be able to scan a QR code to summon the video for anything in the book.
"I want this to be the most fun vegan cookbook possible that teaches easy vegan cooking in a modern real world context. Since I am also highly into personal development and mysticism... The book will be peppered with the most useful aspects of what I have learned from that world as well.
"I am not really into cookbooks. I don't like measuring shit, I don't like rigid rules, and I don't like people telling me what to do. This cookbook is made for the person that does not like to use cookbooks in mind.
"First, The book is concept based. You learn a concept, see one full write-up (with pictures every step along the way) on how to use that concept (the recipes). Then you are shown many ideas for dishes that can be made using variations of the same concept.
"For example, with the concept of mixing vegenase (vegan mayo), vinegar and spices many things can be made. You are shown a full write-up on how to make vegan ranch dressing. Then taking the same concept, you are shown briefly how to make cole slaw, potato salad, jackfruit chickun salad, eggless egg salad etc. Of course, there is a video for each and every one of those."
