Celebrating a 30th anniversary with touring across Canada and the USA this year, the 80's thrash band Aggression is not only proud to announce more Canadian dates (listed below), but share the news that a new album will soon see release.
Entitled "Fractured Psyche Demons," the 11 track release will be coming out via Galy Records on August 18th. Founding guitarist Denis Sasquatch Barthe comments:
"Aggression hit the studio last month for the first time since 1987 and we worked with producer Mike Rogerson and engineer Brett Stewart at Vancouver, BC's Harbourside Studio. The outcome was three brand new Aggression songs and a re-recorded version of the group's previously demoed song 'Metal Slaughter.' These four new recordings are set to be released with two other sets of unreleased demos (1985 Demo and the 1986 Demo 'Mutilator') that have been remastered by Mike Rogerson."
Aggression is also pleased to continue its partnership with 1987's "The Full Treatment" album artist Andre "Thrasher" Gibouleau, who came up with the cover art for the new offering "Fractured Psyche Demons." The full track listing is: More...

The new offering will be released through Dismanic / eOne in North America includes such guests vocalists as Jeff Scott Soto, Elize Ryd (Amaranthe), Mats Levén and Jacob Bunton (Adler, Lynam), while Jo Nunez played drums and Marty O' Brien (Lita Ford) played bass. Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax, Steel Panther) engineered the sessions and the legendary Mike Fraser (Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Van Halen) handled mixing duties. The effort was also mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Yes).
Gus G. also comments on collaborating with Guiltar World for this album: "In a current situation where record stores are almost obsolete, CD shelf space is becoming smaller and smaller in mega retailers and the CD format is becoming a thing of the past, I felt why not offer the fans something special? Why not give them a limited version of this album together with Guitar World magazine? Obviously, it's a guitar player's record and I'm sure Guitar World's readers will appreciate this. I can't think of a better celebration for the release of 'Brand New Revolution!'
"Let's face it, getting to be on the cover go Guitar World magazine is every guitar player's dream. I'm fortunate enough to grace GW cover for the 2nd time (first time w/ Ozzy back in 2010) together with one of the best Metal guitarists of our time, Chris Broderick. It's such a big honor. We had a great time doing the photo shoot w/ Chris and also hanging and jamming. He's a monstrous player & I'm glad to see him forging his own path with his new band, Act Of Defiance. More...

July 17, 2015 — Detroit-based electronic rock mastermind Celldweller has released "Precious One," the second single off of End of an Empire (Chapter 04: Death) via Substream Magazine.
The song features Celldweller at his darkest — mixing deep, foreboding lyrics with large, metal-driven music. Substream had this to say about the track:
"It’s probably unlike anything else you’ve heard this year."
Death, released today via FiXT, is the final chapter installment of the four-part End of an Empire series. The full-length LP, which will feature two additional songs yet to be released, is due out later this year. Instead of releasing End of an Empire in a traditional format, Celldweller has released the album in chapters to give fans a better insight to the world he is building with his music.
Celldweller explained the concept of "Precious One" below:
“‘Precious One’ is the track that lyrically attaches itself to the concept of ‘Death.’ I didn’t want to do something predictable and expected, so lyrically, I wrote it from the perspective of the Gatekeeper, who is the character that lovingly ushers people from this life to the next. Musically, when I started this track I only had two goals to shoot for—doom metal meets trip-hop. Hopefully, I pulled it off.” More...

Los Angeles stoner/doom metal band Behold! The Monolith will release new album "Architects of the Void" this coming September 29th on CD, digital, and vinyl formats. Guitarist Matt Price had this to say:
"It's a relatively dark album, which is probably fitting. A few of the riffs and ideas had pretty much coagulated right before Kevin's accident, and most of the others were colored by it, so yeah it feels kinda heavy and dark to me. I hope I don't sound like a high falootin' artisté, but it felt personal for me and Chase, so it wound up being more than just stringing riffs together, ya know? That being said Cas and Jordan came in and kicked ass and brought their own stamp to the sound. So it's a bit different, but I think it captures the essence what Behold! The Monolith is all about!"
New album "Architects of the Void" follows 2012 release "Defender, Redeemist" and marks the debut of vocalist Jordan Nalley who took the reigns following the tragic 2013 death of Kevin McDade in a car accident. The album will also be the first for new bassist Jason "Cas" Casanova. More...

Today, My Dying Bride fans across the world have the chance to hear the first brand new track from the band's highly anticipated new album - "And My Father Left Forever" - streaming in the player below.
Vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe commented: "It is a picture of fallen bodies and broken limbs and the despair of having to collect them all up carefully, as they are your kinfolk, and place them gently together back into the earth from where they came."
With crushing epic doom spanning eight tracks, and featuring the return of original guitarist Calvin Robertshaw to the fold, "Feel the Misery" is undoubtedly among the band's heaviest, darkest and most majestic works to date, marking it's 25th anniversary in punishing style.
"Feel the Misery" sees a notable return to the band's old haunt, Academy Studios in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, for recording where all of the band's classic early releases were produced. Mixing once more takes place at Futureworks in Manchester, U.K. with the band's long-time studio engineer/producer, Mags. More...

The band commented: "We are very proud of the work we've done on this EP, which continues our epic journey into the mystical realms of dark fantasy. Once more, we let our imagination run wild to create songs that bear our trademark mixture of epic, doom, progressive and traditional metal. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do, and that the EP will be a great appetizer before our second full-length album which we aim to release in 2016."

D.C. area metal act A Sound of Thunder unveiled details on the upcoming new album "Tales From the Deadside" - along with the crowdfunding campaign links. The band has been one of the most successful crowdfunding acts, having blown away goals for the previous releases "Time's Arrow" (2013) (reviewed here) and "The Lessor Key Of Solomon" (2014) (reviewed here). At press time, the band has already accumulated over 80% of its goal and the link is less than 24 hours old.
"Tales From the Deadside" was once again recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA platinum-awarded producer Kevin '131' Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). The album tells the story of Shadowman, one of the flagship characters of Valiant Entertainment's comic book universe. The album is set for release on September 25th.
At the 2013 Baltimore Comic-Con, the band approached comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment with a crazy idea: a heavy metal album about Shadowman. And when they say "approached," the band members mean they literally walked up to the Valiant booth with no warning, put a copy of "Lessor Key of Solomon" on the table and said "we're Valiant fans, and we'd like to make some music about your character!" Hence, "Tales from the Deadside" was born.
The story of Shadowman, his alter-ego Jack Boniface, and the many characters in his world was the inspiration for what the band calls the "best album to date." The story lead A Sound of Thunder to places the music hasn't been before, combining elements of supernatural horror, drama, action and adventure found within the comics. Of course, all of the familiar ASOT elements will be there. The Shadowman's harrowing journey demanded no less! More...

Southern California metal band The Secret VI are set to release the new EP "Mixed Episode" on September 11th via Vanity Digital Music/Vanity Music Group.
The EP is comprised of three tracks, "Plastic Smile," "You're All Bark" and "Driven," "Mixed Episode" takes the band away from the death metal leanings of their 2012 demos and into a much more melodic metal direction. "I love all kinds of metal, including bands like Morbid Angel and Slayer," says guitarist and founder member, Scotty Ch, "so my writing took a swing in that direction for a while but now we're down to straight forward in your face metal."
Lyrically the songs on "Mixed Episode" touch on subjects ranging from fake people ("Plastic Smile") to a very stern warning to potential enemies ("You're All Bark") and finding inner strength ("Driven"). Singer Marc Padgett tends to pull lyrical creativity from a bi-polar disorder, "Writing and performing music helps me release emotions that I'm unable to unleash any other way," says the frontman. Being able to create is something that only comes around here and there for me and I never want to miss the train once it stops rolling."
"Mixed Episode's release will be preceded by a single and lyric video for "Plastic Smile." More...
