Destruktor Posts New Songs Online

Destruktor is streaming the tracks "Priestiality" and "Besieged" online, which both hail from the band's second album, "Opprobrium," set for international release on July 24th via Hells Headbangers. A statement from founding vocalist/guitarist Glenn Destruktor reads:

"We believe we have shown once again why Rome wasn't built in a day. 'Opprobrium' stems from many years of dedication, and was recorded with our longest-standing and strongest lineup to date. The small circle that has been subjected to our 'Opprobrium' believe it a step up from anything we have done before, and it would be very hard for us to disagree.

"Clearly a Destruktor release, 'Opprobrium' sticks to the formula of the past with total aggression, darkness, heaviness, and riff after riff of extreme metal that clearly sticks to the traditions of those long before. 'Opprobrium' is finally ready for release, and we are looking forward to smashing cunts live, and on your stereo with our new hymns of desecration!"

In other Destruktor news, the band is slated to play a first-ever U.S. show at Hells Headbangers' "Hells Headbash - Part 2" festival, set for September 4-6 in Cleveland, Ohio at the Agora Theater and Ballroom. More...

In Vain Working On Album

Johnar Håland from Norway's In Vain (not to be confused with the Spanish band of the same name) just issued the following announcement about working on a new album:

"After half a year of various disturbances, we are back in songwriting mode. There will be no vacation for us this summer; instead we are focusing our minds and energies on the upcoming In Vain album.

"Last year, expeditions to Asia were undertaken as a part of the conceptual and spiritual framework for the new album. In the autumn and winter of this year, similar excursions will be made to Africa, and if everything goes smoothly, a new album should be released in spring 2016.

"Its title has been decided and will be revealed in due course, as in turn all the exciting things emerging with our new exploration. We appreciate your continued support."

Stay tuned for more details on this upcoming album set to follow 2013's "Ænigma" full-length release.

The Safety Fire Calls It Quits

Rivaling CROMCarl's record for April Fool's gags coming true, it turns out The Safety Fire's post back on April 1st about breaking up wasn't as much of a joke as the band let on. The Safety Fire just issued this announcement via Facebook:

"We had you guys going for a while there, ey? You truly were all April Fools... However, the harsh reality is, we have actually broken up.

"Maybe we will do a farewell show sometime. If you want to grab some merch to show people you were once cool, or are now cool and know some defunct band that no one has heard of in a few months time, then click here. When they're gone, they're gone for good.

"Thanks for all the support over the years - from Cruisin' to Smüth Beats, we had a real swell time. Thanks to everyone who bought a shirt, came to a show, let us sleep on their floors, fed us... but most of all, thank you to those who ever said, shouted, screamed, mumbled or merely whispered.... Fuck The Safety Fire." More...

Horisont To Release "Odyssey"

Big of mustache and tight of trouser, Horisont drink from the bottomless wellspring of inspiration that's been bubbling up through the layers of time since the birth of the blues - or Blue Oyster Cult at the very least. Theirs is a sound that harks back to the dawn of the 70s, when a new clutch of heads decided it was time to harsh the 60s hippies' mellow and paint it black; those years when the twin spirit of hard rock and prog rose to redefine sound. Fleshgod Apocalypse To Record New Album

The Italian symphonic death metal masters from Fleshgod Apocalypse will tentatively release their new album "King" in early 2016 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Tracking will start this summer at Kick Recording Studio and 16th Cellar Studio in Rome. Mixing and mastering will be handled by the world-renowned Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studios in Sweden later this year. In addition, acclaimed contemporary artist Eliran Kantor will handle all the artwork and iconography for the album.

Fleshgod Apocalypse's Francesco Paoli comments: "The new album is called 'King.' It's a concept album. It took longer this time but I believe it's a sign of more maturity and determination within the band. We can't release something mediocre just because it's enough to keep things rolling. I believe the music world requires people to work harder on their material and that is what Fleshgod Apocalypse is set to do in this ‘new middle age’ era. More...

"With a handful of demos and a 7 EP under their belt, the ghouls known as Envenom, Ripping Corpse and Necrophiliac Sodomizer are ready to ride the beast through the sickening valleys of Hades and engulf the world in a storm of damnation and lust. Coupled with a distinct worship of old horror movies and books, 'A Filthy Orgy of Horror and Death' explores the violent ecstasy of a psycho in the heat of the night and nightmarish themes of sexual carnage, necrolust and brutality." DoctoR DooM Streaming "Behind Your Shadow"

"This Seed We Have Sown" by DoctoR DooM will be released worldwide on July 24th, 2015 through Ripple Music, with a limited vinyl released on STB Records out toward the end of June. Check out the new song "Behind Your Shadow" below.

Formed in the French town of Ariège in the Midi-Pyrénées by guitarists Jean-Laurent Pasquet and Jérémie Delattre, since their formation in 2011 DoctoR DooM have blazed an impressive underground trail for followers of new, authentically crafted hard rock, metal and progressive blues.

Having come together out of a shared appreciation for forgotten 60s and 70s music, it didn’t take long for the duo to find kindred spirits in drummer Michel Marcq and bass player Sébastien Boutin Blomfield as they sought to pull together the rhythm section required to knock out a monumentally heavy live set.

Jill Janus Discusses Mental Illness, Cancer

Huntress is gearing up to release "Static" on September 25th via Napalm Records, and in a new interview with Revolver, vocalist Jill Janus reveals her lifelong struggle with Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Earlier this year, she was also diagnosed with Stage 1 uterine cancer in the midst of recording the new album. Janus is now cancer-free due to a hysterectomy performed two weeks ago.

In an excerpt from the interview, she explains why she's been hospitalized this year: "Once a Huntress album is done, it's almost like I slip into a postpartum depression. Being bipolar and schizophrenic, I have to be hospitalized so I don't hurt myself or anyone else around me. It can be very dangerous."

She also explains sensing there was something wrong before being diagnosed with cancer: "During the process of writing and recording our third album, I began to feel like something bad was growing within me...I had a procedure, and my doctor found early stage cancer in my uterus."

Janus is now recovering from a successful surgery at home, commenting, "I was encouraged by my bandmates to take my struggle and weave it into songs on the new album. When I formed Huntress, I was concerned with the stigma surrounding mental illness, especially for women in the music industry. But I've accomplished so much in just a few years. Writing one record a year, touring relentlessly and attempting to maintain my sanity has been, at times, very painful for myself and those close to me. Yet I've proven anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself. Speaking out about my mental illness and cancer diagnosis has given me a chance to encourage others to live for their purpose and not be held back by their illness. The vultures can wait." More...
