Castle Streams Full Album

Castle's entire newly released album "Welcome To The Graveyard" is now online for streaming - check it out below.

Reflects guitarist Mat Davis: "We're extremely proud to finally stream 'Welcome To The Graveyard.' We set out on a left hand path from the beginning with this beast of an album, right up until the final nails were put in its coffin. We looked to make this album work as a whole, with a stripped down rock element that hearkened back to our debut In Witch Order and infusing that with bursts of orchestrated melody.

" It's our favorite record to date because it combines all the different elements of Castle and lets them shine equally; epic heavy metal, doom, '70s rock, and [bassist/vocalist] Liz [Blackwell]'s vocals are more soulfully evil than ever before which adds to the haunted ride." More...

Slayer Announces Comic Series

Dark Horse Comics and thrash titans Slayer have joined forces to deliver a new comic series this holiday season.

With full participation from the band and taking inspiration from Slayer's "Repentless" music videos, Jon Schnepp (Metalocalypse) will pen the three-issue comic series with interior bloodlines drawn by Guiu Vilanova (Twilight Zone, Conan the Avenger, Weird Detective). Glenn Fabry's covers reign in blood while Antichrist Eric Powell (The Goon, Hillbilly) will illustrate the variant cover for the first issue.

"I think of the songs I write as stories," Slayer's Kerry King told Rolling Stone in an exclusive interview. "And if nothing else, they are certainly visual." Slayer: Repentless #1 (of 3) is due on comic stands in December, 2016.

Slayer will appear within the walls of Comic-Con for two exclusive signings on Friday, July 22. Nuclear Blast America (booth #501) will host the band from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Dark Horse Comics (booth #2615) will host both the band and the comic's creative team for a very limited engagement from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Limited edition posters will be provided. The band is currently in the studio with Zach Ohren (Chelsea Grin, Fallujah) recording the follow up to 2013’s "Unloved."

Check out "Gorokta" in the player below. The band comments: "This song starts with a simple heavy riff and goes on through all of its different sections following the key of mutation. Spellcaster Checks In From The Road

Spellcaster just checked in with this update about experiencing vehicle problems while out on the road touring:

Excellion Releases New Music Video

Mexican traditional metal band Excellion just debuted a video single from an upcoming EP titled "Unsean," which is due on August 6th, 2016. This 5-track EP was mixed and mastered by Luke Martin (Plini, Nick Johnston) in Peterborough, United Kingdom.

The video for “Unlucky Charms” was directed by Sofia Ptacnik and can be viewed below. Bassist Adrian Vilbel comments:

“The story of the song may be a little different from the video of a metal band and that’s the whole point. The song talks about your self, a reunion with your inner child asking you if what you’re doing right now is what you’ve always dreamed of and the video it’s like an alternate reality where there’s this magical instrument that is capable of make you a virtuoso in any musical endeavor you may take and that’s why it’s so valuable and anyone wants it, even people with a lot of money and what we see at the start of the video. You know, we wanted to make something different to an always dark ambient metal video so that’s why we made it that way, it was actually fun.

“We could relate the song and the video in a way that is kind of a dream of that inner child of yours telling you that sometimes there’re more important things out there, so you should enjoy the ride and stop trying to take shortcuts, that’s what make experiences so valuable." More...

The Agonist Posts New Lyric Video

The Agonist is set to release new album and Napalm Records debut "Five" on September 30th. Today new single "The Chain" also comes online - check out a lyric video below.

Pre-orders for "Five" are now online here. Guitarist Danny Marino also comments on the impending album release:

"We are so anxious to release this record to our fans and the rest of the world! This album represents another shift in the evolution of The Agonist! Vicky and I went even deeper into what makes a song really connect. I'm very proud of everyone's hard work making this the most diverse and interesting record for us to date! It was a great learning experience working with Mike Plotnikoff and fully immersing ourselves in the recording process 24/7. Just as much as we are excited to release this album we are psyched to get back out on the road and connect directly with our fans! Europe gets the first taste before we unleash on North America this November with Epica."

Vocalist Vicky Psarkis adds, "Being in The Agonist for over 2 years now and after releasing my debut album with the band and numerous tours, I can say that Five is the record where I believe that we finally found our sound! There's a certain confidence that comes with experience and there's something about being fully comfortable that can take your approach towards songwriting to a whole other level. Working on the lyrics and vocals on this album was an incredibly natural process. Halfway into the pre-production, we realized that a lot of our songs seemed to be telling a story and hearing the album in its entirety is like escaping into our world."

The new album's track listing is as follows:

1. The Moment
2. The Chain
3. The Anchor and The Sail
4. The Game
5. The Ocean
6. The Hunt
7. The Raven Eyes
8. The Wake
9. The Resurrection
10. The Villain
11. The Pursuit of Emptiness
12. The Man Who Fell to Earth
13. The Trial
14. Take Me to Church (Hozier cover) (Bonus Edition Only) More...

Black Shape Of Nexus Calls It Quits

Following the stream of a truly mammoth 24 HOUR song earlier this year, Black Shape Of Nexus has apparently achieved all it set out to, as the band is officially calling it quits. The group's Facebook page was updated with this statement:

"BLACK SHAPE OF NEXUS ARE FUCKING DEAD! Villingen-Schwenningen will be our final show. We had plans. But reality does not care about plans. It may sound cheesy but the saying is true. You can't ride a dead horse.

"Any famous last words? OK. We always wanted to take ourselves not too serious. We never wanted to be more evil or heavy than we were. We just wanted to be the persons that we still are. Beside the will to express ourselves in the way we did the second important thing was ATTITUDE. It is good to believe that we're going with the certainty that we've always done the right things.

"We feel endless love for all the ones who walked a part of the road with us. The list would be incredibly long. THANK YOU! THANK YOU ALL! OFF TO NEW SHORES!" More...

Thy Catafalque Streams New Song "Mezolit"

Hungarian progressive/avant-garde metal project Thy Catafalque premieres a new song entitled "Mezolit", taken from the upcoming new album "Meta", which will be out in stores September 16 via Season of Mist.

Check out now "Mezolit" below. Comments mastermind Tamás Kátai:

"The track ‘Mezolit’ (‘Mesolithic’) features two vocalists taking my place – my old friend, Lambert Lédeczy from AHRIMAN, MÖRBID CARNAGE, and TYRANT GOATGALDRAKONA and Gyula Vasvári from PERIHELION delivering the clean vocals. The song itself is set in prehistoric times, we cannot fully comprehend and at least for me it breathes a feeling of timelessness, like existing through aeons.

"The Greek term ‘Meta’ originally meant ‘beyond, over, through’, which corresponded to my vision of a journey through different times and life forms. I am fascinated by the idea of a circle of life, of existence in another form after the disintegration of our bodies, how we dissolve into earth, and how something very different is built from our cells that is still derived from the most basic elements of life. Musically speaking, a great number of guest musicians have contributed to ‘Meta’. Apart from Gyula and Lambert, Attila Bakos and Ágnes Tóth are each back for one song, and also Zoltán Kónya (GIRE). Balázs Tóth from CASKETGARDEN appears on lead guitar in one track and there are some oboe and cello as well. I assume all in all, ‘Meta’ comes across a tad friendlier than ‘Sgùrr’ was." More...
