We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week, Odd Dimension bassist Gigi Andreone tells of the night they went on stage without a singer, due to some "car trouble":
I'm gonna tell you what happened one autumn night before a show at Mephisto Rock Cafe, a club on the hills near our hometown we played in many times. It was 2007 and we were still touring to promote our first EP, "A New Dimension." The band arrived regularly at the club and we prepared the stage for the show waiting for our singer Manuel coming from Milan.
Time passed by but he didn’t arrived at the stated time…we called him many times on the phone in vain, then he called us with a terribly sad voice telling us the unbelievable. He had stopped by the way probably to ask some info ‘bout the right road to take, he parked the car nearby, then when he came back the car wasn’t there. At first he thought someone had stolen his car, then his eyes stopped down the hill and he saw the unbelievable! Probably due to a defect in his car’s braking system, it cruised down without a driver from the parking on the top of the hill bumping into a wall downhill!! Fortunately no one was hurt but Manuel was immediately involved in all the necessary legal and rescue practices and as a consequence he couldn’t arrive in time for the show.
So we were at the club, everything ready for the show, our friends coming in and no singer….what to do?? After a short discussion we decided to play just instrumentally (fortunately our music and especially our first EP was full of technically involving moments for the audience) and then a friend of ours that is a singer in another band came on stage to sing some classic metal covers to complete the set, preventing tthe audience from getting too bored.
The night passed away remembering us of the first times we met in the rehearsal room without a singer and with a bit of ‘jam session fever’ on the cover tracks, but the audience was quite happy of the show.
So remember: be sure you have put on the parking brake correctly especially when you are on hills or mountains tops!
Odd Dimension's debut album, "Symmetrical," is set to arrive on March 22nd via Scarlet Records.
Be sure to check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

Last week Clandestine released the band's debut album "The Invalid" on Nightmare Records. In support of the album's release the band took to the stage at The Whisky in Los Angeles for an album release show. Lead singer June Park commented on the gig:
"The show at The Whisky on February 11th was a success; many supportive fans showed up and the crowd was great. Clandestine performed well, although it was a rather hard time for me due to a respiratory illness I have been going through. It was extremely hard to suppress the cough while I was singing. Nonetheless I survived through the set, and it was like rain after a drought to talk to all of our great fans and friends after the show.
"Later that night I figured out that one person from the crowd voluntarily jumped on the mixing board to do sound for us. The house engineer asked, 'Why didn't you tell us that you had a sound guy?' when the set was over. Well, we didn't bring one that night, so I was clueless! It was a surprise but felt kind of nice to know that someone made such a brave move for us."
In other Clandestine news, the band has confirmed a March 18th European release date for "The Invalid" via Twilight Distribution and partners. MetalInjection also debuted the new video clip for "Disappear in You" at this location.

Gothenburg Sweden based metal sextet Marionette is currently in the process of mastering its yet-to-be titled third full length album at Masters of Audio Studio in Stockholm with Erik Broheden. Song titles set to appear on the CD include “Something Forgotten," “Remember Your Name,” “Stand In Line," and “Lights Out."
Guitarist and backing vocalist Aron Parmerud commented:
"Our third album is currently being mastered at Masters of Audio Studio in Stockholm. These guys really know what they are doing, having worked with acts like Rammsetain, Turbonegro, Within Temptation, and The Hellacopters among many others. We’re currently adding the final touches and making some final tweaks, but the light at the end of the tunnel is drawing very near! We worked really hard on all the compositions and we feel this is by far the most unique, dynamic, and mature record we’ve made. Here is a photo we took recently after completing the mixing at Pontus Hjelm’s PH Studio (Dead By April) in Gothenburg.”
Marionette also recently completed European dates with the Murderdolls - the band consisting of Joey Jordison (Slpinkot) and Wednesday 13 – on the “Women and Children Last Tour”. Aron Parmerud commented:

It was great to get back down to play in Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy again. We want to give a special thanks to all of our new fans in France as well. We’ll be back to see you soon! Big thanks to the Murderolls and their crew for helping us make this the best tour Marionette has ever done. We have confirmed a date in Copenhagen on March 19th; we look forward to playing some new songs from our upcoming record that we haven’t tried yet live!”

"Hi gang! Been a while since we have put out any words about anything! Well here goes: We had another demo session at Prostata studios this week and so far we got three songs done with all the drums, bass and some guitars. We will finish up those demos this week. The new ones are called Recoil, the most progressive piece in the whole album, Last Will, the monster song, epic travel through a gentle beginning to the massive instrumental journey. And finally Medusa which we feel that could be the first single, it's slightly different than the other tracks but the chorus will stuck in your mind and haunt you the next day.
"We also had a photo shoot last weekend. The sessions were held in the theater of Pori, and we could like to thank them for that. Also we would like to that Jari Pelkonen who took the photos. Those turned out great! We will update also our site and myspace really soon.
"We are quite ready to start recording the follow up for our debut album, we still need couple of more songs to complete the whole album. We are already booking the studio....we'll let's not tell you guys everything just yet! Here are some photos from the demo sessions, enjoy."

Finnish progressive death metal act Barren Earth is currently on the road in North America for tour dates alongside Rotten Sound and Finntroll. The band has now checked in with the following 12th entry of the band's tour diary:
"On Saturday morning we were approaching Chicago. The mood in the lounge of the bus was one of impatience, as once more the toilet door had gotten jammed. About 20 minutes earlier the driver had said that we were 20 minutes away from our destination. But as we were only in the outskirts of the city and the traffic was heavy, it was obvious that it would take more than 20 minutes (and had, in fact, already taken). To make matters worse, a bit later both buses happened to drive down a narrow street, only to find that we were facing a bridge too low for us to go under. We had no choice but to reverse back the way we came from, and try to find space for turning around. Just to make it clear: reversing a bus on a narrow street, accompanied by honking horns and abuse from road-raged drivers whilst desperately needing to use the toilet is not the ideal way to enter Chicago for the first time. But on this particular morning, this was the type of entry that fate had bestowed upon us, and who are we to act in defiance of fate?
"On a more positive note, the show at Reggie’s Rock Club, Chicago was sold out. Unfortunately, some people who had come specifically to see us, were left outside. If it was any consolation, we did give them our autographs; with our shaky handwriting.
"As Chicago is a city of blues, as well as the city of The Blues Brothers, we decided to go listening to some blues. We had no idea where to find a good blues club. But somebody pointed out that maybe, just maybe, one could find blues at The House Of Blues. And we did, courtesy of the excellent Jimmy Burns Band.
"Upon returning to our bus, we heard strange news: some people in our entourage were to change buses. Stories relating to buses on this journey would deserve a blog of their own. Both buses have been constantly experiencing technical problems, buses have been exchanged, drivers have been changed, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes involuntarily, and now this. For various reasons, some people from the ‘party bus’ had aspirations to move to the ‘silent bus’ and vice versa. As a result, our bus currently consists of Barren Earth, Rotten Sound, 4/6 of Finntroll and the drum tech, while the other bus consists of Ensiferum, 2/6 of ‘Troll, and the rest of the crew. Can you, o reader, guess which one is the ‘party bus’?
"In Detroit we had the pleasure of doing a bit of sight-seeing with a friend of Mikko’s as our guide, although sight-seeing is perhaps not the best word to describe it, since the heavy snowfall meant very low visibility. But at least we could feel the city. Detroit seemed like a ghost town, as we drove around the abandoned houses of the city on Sunday, amid the ever-present snowfall. We were taken to see the Heidelberg Project, which is an outdoors art installation. Gloomy, sullen and even macabre, but impressive nonetheless. More...
