The long-running fathers of southern sludge metal EyeHateGod were filmed for an upcoming episode of HBO’s “Treme.” The show follows the recovery of New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Creators David Simon and Eric Overmyer strived to make a true-to-life portrait of the lives of people living close to the historic Treme (pronounced Tre-may) neighborhood in New Orleans. They decided to involve as many local actors and real locations as possible; including filming many musicians like Dr. John, rapper Juvenile, bounce artists Big Freedia and Katey Red, and brass bands Rebirth Brass Band, Hot 8 Brass Band, and the Dirty Dozen. “Treme” has produced two seasons and will premiere the third season, containing the episode with the metal band, this fall. The episode including EyeHateGod was filmed at Southport Hall on February 15th and is set in January 2008. More...

London based death/doom act Eye of Solitude recently signed on with Kaotoxin Records to release the new "Sui Caedere" album and follow-up to the previous full-length "The Ghost." In anticipation of the upcoming album, Eye of Solitude has now teamed up with Metalunderground.com to premiere a song online from the band's previously self-released and self-titled EP. Check out the "Die Alone" track in the player below.
"Sui Caedere" is set to drop this coming June, and music from that upcoming release will also see its premiere online through Metalunderground in the coming months.
The following press release was issued by Kaotoxin Records about Eye of Solitude's music:
"The Eye of Solitude is the heart of forests where unsettled spirits dwell. It is the fear within; the carnal ripping of every thought when abandoned in despair. It is nightmare and enlightenment, a fearsome tide that carries the soul and mind onto dark realms of insanity.
"The music is inspired by emotional distress, inner pain and a cruel combination of negativity and grief. Dark shapes that terrorize the soul and keep it captive on the altar of suffering, until when not being able to breathe any longer, it finds its end - a supreme escape towards peace and eternal rest.
"After 'The Ghost' debut album released in June 2011, and a self-titled EP, the band is currently working on thee second full-length, titled 'Sui Caedere,' which will be released in June 2012 through Kaotoxin records."
Eye of Solitude is:

Indee Rehal-Sagoo – Guitars
Tristan Jefferies – Guitars

Denver death metal horde Enemy Reign recently completed work on a new full-length entitled "Between Hell And Oblivion." The offering was recorded at Flatline Audio by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Martriden, Cobalt et al) and offers up 11 tracks of mile-high deathgrind brutality as well as the debut of vocalist, Stevie Boiser who replaced former throat, Sherwood Webber (Skinless), last Summer.
Commented the band on the output: “Between Hell And Oblivion is a huge milestone for Enemy Reign both as a band and for us individually. It means we didn't give up even when we were written off, and accomplishing that feels great. Musically, we set out to refine what we feel our style of death metal is. We aren't pretentious people, and this is not a pretentious album. It's a no nonsense death metal album that pays homage to all the bands we grew up with and love, while keeping an eye on how we can add our own artistic license and create something we could listen to everyday. And we do...so enjoy the reign.”
Multi-instrumentalist and vocal sorcerer Bruce Lamont (Yakuza, Bloodiest, Circle Of Animals, Led Zeppelin 2) has confirmed a string of solo tour dates for this month, leading up-to and following his action-packed and diverse set of shows at this year's annual SXSW congregation in Austin.
Lamont will be collaborating with random other musicians and artists on several of the shows -- similar to the impromptu live sets he pulled-off at last year's SXSW with Eyehategod's Mike Williams and Castevet's Andrew Hock, and just last month with Scott Kelly of Neurosis/Shrinebuilder on his current solo tour. Additionally the tour will showcase Lamont performing with an array of artists during the run, including Rwake, Zoroaster, Andrew W.K., Alcest and more, including supporting Nachtmystium and The Atlas Moth on a majority of the appearances.
On these upcoming appearances Bruce Lamont will be performing versions of some of the material on his debut solo album "Feral Songs For The Epic Decline" -- which received massive media praise including Alarm Press, Decibel, Stereogum, Terrorizer and even a place in Spin Magazine's 2011 year-end metal lists -- as well as newer material he's been concocting since the album's release in January 2011. As with his previous solo tours over the past two years, Lamont will be executing multiple instruments and a plethora of vocal styles, with an incredibly layered looping system that culminates into some of the most entrancing live solo artist work one could ask for. Rumor has it fans can also find Lamont guest bartending and otherwise partying hard throughout the SXSW circuit when he's not performing. More...

Florida-based Seven Kingdoms is getting ready to enter Morrisound studios in Tampa, Florida with producer Jim Morris (Iced Earth) to begin recording the follow-up to the band's 2010 self-titled Nightmare Records release. The 11 track album is still untitled, and more info is expected to be released shortly.
Guitarist Camden Cruz commented on the writing process for the new album:
"Fans can expect a more dynamic SEVEN KINGDOMS this time around. We have spent the greater part of a year transposing what we have learned into this new record. It has been since the middle of 2009 since we have written anything together and I really believe that you will hear three more years of experience on this album. It is overall a little bit faster, but not in a thrashy way; it is more in the vein of older school power metal that sometimes seems to be overlooked now days. We have been able to shape something in our 'sound' that will set us apart from our forefathers while still being true to the genre. Expect a twin turbo version of our self titled release. The record is the most challenging material we have physically played to date and it has a lot of guitar work on it. Sabrina has even become more herself with this record as we have all grown as musicians. We aim to bring a polished version of what a Modern Day Power Metal Band should sound like. This should be a record that everyone can enjoy from the brand new listener to the most diehard Power Metal fan with more hooks, more shred, more epicness, More In your face double bass, more literal bass, Just more POWER."
Coinciding with entering the studio, the band has just finished filming its very first official video clip for the new record's opener, "After The Fall." The band's first pro video clip, the story is based on George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones, which is also the story which the band's name is based on. Ironically, the same type of cameras used for filming the HBO show were also used for the band's video. More...

Russian death metal act Festerguts has returned after a period of non-activity and the band has recorded it's first full-length CD comprised of re-recorded songs which were previously released on tapes in the 90's. Festerguts commented:
"The album comes in a unique Festerguts' way - old school death metal with gloomy keyboards atmosphere. To make the music more monumental the professional soprano female vocalist was involved in recording. The band is still unsigned so the proposals from the labels are appreciated."
The song "Now I Can Feel You From Inside" is available for streaming in the player below.

The Los Angeles power metal trio, Ninth Circle, began recording the follow up to the band's 2008 release "The Power Of One" on February 4th at Ardent Audio Productions in Torrance, CA with Rich Wenzel at the helm engineering the drum tracks. The band offers the following update on the album's current progress.
"We began tracking Dave's drums on Saturday February 4th and finished on Sunday February 5th," explains bassist Frank Forray. "It was a great experience to work with Rich. He was recommended to us by our inner [Ninth] Circle. He was good friends with our former producer Bill Krodell who passed away a few years back. It was important to us to find someone in the family. Rich did a tremendous job with Dave's drums. The tracks are huge, enormous and heavy! Rich's studio is very impressive and extremely comfortable to work in. And Rich himself is a great guy! He was real easy to work with, got the best out of us and was very opened minded with where we were going with each song. I also found his stories about touring with the Beach Boys extremely enjoyable given I'm a huge Beach Boys fan too!" More...

Within Temptation has issued the following statement about the band's upcoming "Sanctuary" tour:
"A few months ago we announced a new tour for the Dutch Theaters. Slowly we started to reveal some of the details about what you can expect. Tomorrow is premiere night… time to fit the puzzle together by giving you some last details about the show. Don’t worry there is much more that we didn’t told you yet ;-) . Within Temptation’s theater tour 2012 is called: Sanctuary.
"When you visit a theater, you can always sense a sort of magic – there’s a very special feeling floating in the air, something out of the ordinary. Maybe it’s the history of the building you’re in, or imagining all the different shows that took place there, and the visitors who felt the joy, the tension and the mystery of what they were about to see.
"Whether we go to the theater as visitors or perform there ourselves, with Within Temptation we always have that special feeling. This is why every few years we work hard to create a new show to perform in the theaters. Another reason - in addition to the magical and intimate ambiance the theaters offer - is that this is also the perfect environment to experiment creatively with our music and our show. This gives us the unique opportunity to approach and do things differently than we would on a ‘normal’ stage. This is most definitely the case for our new 2012 theater show.
"A lot of things you’ll see in our show will be new and quite different from what you’ve seen from us before. More...

Some called it the album Amebix should have made. Zero Tolerance Magazine proclaimed without hyperbole, 'Morbid, threatening and obsidian… Album of the Year by a long shot.'

We experimented with different time signatures, different tunings, and finally made the album we've wanted to make all along. The goal was to destroy our last record, and we feel like we achieved that. We can't wait for people to hear it, and can't wait to play these songs live. "Greetings friends, we are now back in Stockholm Sweden after a lengthy road trip throuhout Europe with Netherbird. We have made 10 shows in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Czech Republic. It is truly a wonderful feeling to be able to look back at these last days with only good memories despite we drove very long to get there and back! But such small discomforts pale when we think of all the wonderful people we met and how brilliantly we felt during those hours on the stages across eastern and central Europe.
"As some might have noticed we had two new faces in the line up! Ljusebring (drums) and Tinnitus (bass) joined the band as session members just 14 days before the tour and we cannot thank them enough for the dedication and hard work. Without these guys the tour could not have happened since Erik Röjås (drums) and Tobias Gustafsson (bass) had to stay in Sweden to tend to other duties. So thank you ever so much guys for stepping in and making this tour possible, we got many good memories thanks to you!

Puscifer is one of the most difficult bands to describe, given the disconnect between their outward appearance and the substance of their songs. Yet, to anyone familiar with the work of A Perfect Circle and Tool, just the buzz-phrase of "It's a Maynard James Keenan band" does the trick. The band's approach is almost exclusionary in that their promo photos and stage presentation are mostly unrelated, which deters casual listeners but intrigues those who demand that music be a full-on experience. Finding out what that Puscifer experience was all about was my goal when they stopped in Nashville, TN on the night of February 28th. More...

Rise and Fall has posted a video clip online for "Hidden Hands," which can be viewed below. The band commented:
"On a sunny Sunday morning in October last year we invited close to 30 of our friends to our practice space in Ghent for the shoot of the first ever Rise And Fall music video. We didn't invite them to act like they were the crowd or anything, no, we invited them to be Rise And Fall.
"From 8 in the morning 'till sunset, footage was shot of our friends pretending they were Rise And Fall. It resulted in 8 hours of footage which was later distilled into a 112 seconds long video by director Mathieu Vandekerckhove who also filmed the whole project. All this hard work, and sweat (we kept the heat at full blast in our practice space), resulted in a visual and auditive whirlwind that will commence after you hit play. Turn it up loud, watch it full screen and in HD if possible! We wanna thank everyone in the video and especially Mr. Vandekerckhove who spent hours on end editing this bastard.
"Look for members of Oathbreaker, Congress, Hessian, Reproach, Kindred, Amenra, Kingdom, Blind To Faith, Insult, Inhume, The Rott Childs, Kabul Golf Club, Kapitan Korsakov, Drums Are for parades, Minor Thieves, Vermin Twins, Officer Jones, Morrocan, Control Records, Rhythm To The Madness, Justice, Filler, Joshua's Song,… all bands we advise you to check out and find out what's going on in Belgium in 2012. Thank you."
Rise and Fall's "Faith" will be released on CD/LP/digital formats everywhere on March 20th, 2012. More...
