Boston, Massachusetts based act Behold Oblivion has posted a new song online for streaming. You can check out the title track for the band's upcoming album "Witness" by heading over to the Behold Oblivion Facebook page.
The band also commented on its formation and history:
"The apocalypse, the eradication of civilization, the end of the world. To think of the destruction of humanity brings to the mind's ear a cacophonous soundtrack of auditory lunacy. There is no group more apt at navigating that very sonic landscape than Boston's Behold Oblivion. Formerly known as Tight Rope, the group has within its year long infancy managed to self-record and produce an EP which has been downloaded over 2000 times since its release. The members met at the Berklee College of Music, and now seek only to further hone their ability to deliver aural punishment. They have borne witness to the end, yet they have only begun. Behold Oblivion will not only set the bar, they will obliterate it."
March 29th sees technical death metallers Obscura launch into space with a third cosmically crushing release titled "Omnivium" (reviewed here). Seeking to illuminate metal fans on the band's upcoming release, vocalist/guitarist Steffen Kummerer talked about composing and recording the album, as well as explaining how the artwork has a special connection to the music and previous Obscura albums. More...

"We try to answer as many questions that pop up on Facebook as possible (and all 5 of us are on there running it) but the odds of you getting added on our personal pages are slim (unless we know you in real life, trust us, you're not missing anything, just Jeff bitching about other bands and Marty posting Yes videos)."

Sumerian blackened thrashers Melechesh just returned from their tour with fellow label mates Nile. The band, lead by front man Ashmedi, is now about to embark on a North America tour immediately to promote "The Epigenesis."
Commented front man Ashmedi: "The European tour is done, it has been a great experience, and we met great people for the most part. Touring with Nile was also a musical journey were we explored different takes on Middle Eastern sounding extreme metal. The accompanying bands on the tour were all great without any exception, each offered something different and did their best night in and night out. Dew-Scented, Zonaria, Darkrise for part one of the tour and then Bibleblack, Pressure Points and Goat the Head for the second part, they were great company and kick ass people.
"We would like to thank Massive music and their great crew, Murph, Punchy, the bands we toured with, local promoters and most importantly the great fans that came to the shows.
"As for now we are heading for North America for a 4.5 week comprehensive tour across USA and Canada, with our friends from Rotting Christ, Hate, Abigail Williams and Lecherous Nocturne. We look forward to delivering our audiences there with live Sumerian Sonic Magick.“

Gothenburg, Sweden based act Graveyard has offered a track-by-track commentary on the nine songs comprising the band's new studio album, "Hisingen Blues." The 100% analog recorded release will be out in Europe on March 25th. The band's breakdown can be found below.
Ain’t Fit To Live Here: Classic blues riffs, just harder and on speed, and filtered through 30-40 years of rock history. Lyrics - frustration and the feeling that you hate everybody.
No Good, Mr. Holden: Introspective lyrics. A doomy and gentle song at the same time. The song melodies really stand out on this one.
Hisingen Blues: A fast hard song about living fast and hard. Not your general song structure. Influenced by many different types of music.
Uncomfortably Numb: Jokingly, we've called it the power ballad of the album. Lyrics speaks for themselves. A touch of southern rock. Suitable for making love to. Maybe.
Buying Truth (Tack Och Förlåt): A bit more modern if you will, but hard and primitive. Get-drunk-and-fight-it-out vibe. Lyrics about nervous, fake, media/music industry people, and other asshole musicians that haven't got anything to bring to the table.More...
Brooklyn Militia has recruited former Whiplash vocalist Glenn Hansen as the band's new singer. The new song 'Pumpkin Head' showcases the band with Hansen and gives just a small taste of the group's new sound. You can check out the song "Pumpkin Head" at the band's MySpace page here.
A full length CD and tour is to follow later this year. Glenn Hansen had this to say: "I guess it all comes down to honesty. When you take this band, you're taking guys that have been in bands together since we were kids. We are like brothers. When we play, the songs just flow naturally. It's just brutal musical honesty."

On March 25th, Swedish heavy metal band Overdrive will release the listening companion to the new CD "Angelmaker" (released on February 21, 2011 through Lion Music). The vinyl only release is entitled "The Angelmaker's Daughter," and it is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies in three different colors. The LP contains six previously unreleased tracks, all recorded for the latest CD in 2010, plus three tracks from the CD.
"These are the tracks that didn't make it on the CD 'Angelmaker.' Not because they were bad, but for various other reasons such as we didn't want two long epic songs on the CD, a couple of songs were a bit too similar in style, one was a bit too different in style etc. However the combination of these songs, plus three tracks carefully selected from the CD to fit the formula, has made this an album we feel very proud of," says guitarist Janne Stark.
The release of "The Angelmaker's Daughter" will be celebrated at Club Stairway To Heaven in Malmö, Sweden, on March 25, where the band will perform live, supported by hard rockers Carnival Sun.
The track listing is as follows:
Brand New Sinner (Stark) *
It's Not As Easy As It Seems (Instrumental) (Jacobsson) *
Short Moments (Jacobsson) *
Call The Priest (Eriksson/Stark) *
Show Your Love (Jacobsson) *
Run Out (Jacobsson) *
To Grow (Karlsson)
In Gut We Trust (Stark)
*Exclusive vinyl tracks.

"That's Life" - "In today's society, everyone is so busy behind their computer screens. Spreading hate and just bull shit behind their Internet walls. We speak about the youth getting sucked into this way of life and not dealing with real life situations the way we did as kids."
"Self Pride" - "...talks about what motivates me to strive to be the best person I could be. With the right amount of determination and integrity you can achieve almost anything! Self pride!!"
"Until The Day I Die" - "Speaks of the loyalty we have for our friends and family through good times and bad. Sticking together with the ones who stayed true and forming and strong bond of friendship through the hardships of life."More...

"We'll be bringing along new merchandise featuring the artwork of 'Dead Again,' which can also be found on our official site and webstore, so be sure to drop by the merch stand after the show and enjoy a beer with us, have a talk and hang out.
"On the road again then for 3 weeks, confident that the eastern part of our Thrash Crusade will be as great as winter's Thrashfest a couple of months ago and that's why we want all of you hyped and ready for a thrash, violent-friendly, fun night. 2 days before the Eastern Europe tour kicks off from Hungary, ready to ruin Eastern Europe with you! See you soon enough, Thrash till Death."

Montreal metallers Derelict have begun streaming the second track from their new promo EP. You can listen to the song "Expiry" in the clip below. "This is a really angry song," explains vocalist Eric Burnet. "It's about having to pay for our abuse of the planet by watching it fall apart around us."
"Expiry" is the second of three songs being released this month as part of Derelict's new promotional demo. "Although we're labeling this as a demo, the production is full album quality," says Burnet. "We went with Chris Donaldson (Beneath The Massacre, The Agonist, etc) again for the mix and master, and we got Sébastien Pittet (ex-Augury touring bassist) on fretless bass duties. All in all we're pretty psyched and we hope this gets people excited for our next album."
Over the next few months Derelict will be putting the finishing touches on the band's next release, playing select shows around Quebec, Ontario, and the East Coast, and looking at expanding their reach to the US and Europe.
Reactivated British heavy metal outfit Hell has posted a new music video online for the song "On Earth As It Is In Hell." You can check it out below. The song will appear on the band's forthcoming new studio album, "Human Remains," which will be released through Nuclear Blast Records on May 13th. Speaking about the video, Hell guitarist Andy Sneap (also known for his work with Sabbat as well as being one of the most well known metal record producers) stated:
"The video we shot at Wingfield Manor in Derbyshire, UK. It’s literally 5 miles from where I live and the band used the same location in the video for ‘Deathsquad’ that they shot in 1983. Director Kristian Havard - who used to be in the band Xentrix – is a friend from when Sabbat used to tour with them in the late ‘80s, so I called in a few favors.
"The band always were theatrical and out there image-wise. The great thing about Hell is we don’t feel pigeon-holed into any category: we just do what we want. We are not looking at what’s going on around us music-wise playing catch up or following the latest trends. Personally, I think it’s very rare that a concept comes across well on music video, so it was really out of ease to do a live performance. After all, this is really to introduce people to Hell." Massacre Records has checked in with the following announcement about Seven Witches recording a new album:
"Many years have passed since the last Witches and Jack Frost decided it was time to give the fans what they wanted and brought back Mr James Rivera (Helstar) at the helm to take back the metal once again. With the monstrous bass and song writing of Mike LePond (Symphony X) and drums from Taz Marazz Jack Frost and the guys did a great record with Joey Vera (Armored Saint, Fates Warning) handling the mixing.
"The tile is called 'Call Upon The Wicked.' Songs range from classic Judas Priest to a touch of Rainbow there's even an epic with female vocals a new step in their chapter. The record is a bit of a concept talking how women have been the decline of men since the beginning of time."

According to the Daily Mail, Paul Di'anno (former vocalist of such bands as Iron Maiden, Killers and Battlezone) has been jailed today after being found guilty of benefit fraud. Di'anno was sentenced to nine months for claiming over £45,000 in benefits. He was told he would serve at least four and a half months of the sentence behind bars before being released on conditional bail.
Di'anno claimed he suffered severe nerve damage to his back that prevented him from working, but he was caught when Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) investigators spotted a YouTube video of him jumping around on stage during a live show in 2006.
The footage, from his own website and video sharing site YouTube, showed the singer energetically moving across the stage, putting his claims in severe doubt.
He admitted the eight counts of benefit fraud at Salisbury Crown Court on February 11.

For us Memorial Roots was a cool album, but On The Spur Of The Moment will be a BLAST! We are really happy and excited to start recording new material because we cannot hear the old songs anymore… time for something new!"

The mere thought of Norwegian black metal conjures up thoughts of darkness, evil, arrests, blistering headbanging chaos, church burnings, death and destruction.
Thankfully, some Scandinavian acts still live up to that billing. Nidingr, a Norwegian black metal supergroup of sorts, is one.
The band – made up of 1340/Gorgoroth/Ov Hell guitarist Teloch, Immortal/Mayhem drummer Hellhammer, guitarist Blargh and vocalist Captain Estrella Grassa – has been in existence in one form or another for 15 years. But the band has played only a handful of live gigs, has no plans for any U.S. or European tours and recorded its second eardrum-shattering assault, “Wolf Father,” in Norway - amazingly without all members ever being together in the studio.
Guitarist Teloch, who recently added to his workload by joining the latest incarnation of Mayhem, took a few minutes from his home in Oslo to talk about replacing drum machines with live musicians, getting arrested for pissing on a castle with Norwegian metal overlord Garm and the meaning of the band’s name (hint: it’s got something to do with Norse mythology).
And there’s an offensive joke thrown in for good measure. Enjoy. More...
