Obituary Announces "Redneck Run III" Tour

Florida death metal legends Obituary has announced a headlining tour in the United States dubbed the "Redneck Run III" tour, which will kick off in March. Support on the trek will come from Gruesome and 200 Stab Wounds.

The band states: "It’s time to put away the leather jackets and boots, bust out the FlipFlops & TankTops and prepare yourself for an outrageously, awkward yet undeniably amazing evening that could possibly turn into the best night of your life.

"The Florida Boys are at it again and are firing up the RV, checking the brake lines and high tailing it out of town and heading your way…so breaking out the SunBlock and prepare to Rock!

"The EastCoast RedNeckRun III is about to go down and we need to know two things…who’s joining us and is the Beer Cold? Contrary to the Apollo-13-Mission, failure is an option and so are Shoes…but having a GodDamn GoodTime is a none of your money back guarantee!

"This isn’t Rocket Science nor have we ever claimed to be scientists or the smartest band in the world..we’re just thirsty, ready to jam and hope you are too. Where will WE see YOU?

"We’re just happier than a puppy with two peters to be headed back out on the road." More...

Once Human Posts Teaser For New Album Online

Once Human, the band featuring former Machine Head/Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader, has released a new teaser trailer online for their upcoming new album, "Scar Weaver." You can check it out below.

Pieced together over the last two years, Scar Weaver represents a massive step forward for the band. Blessed (or perhaps cursed) with plenty of additional time during last year’s lockdown situation, the band have been able to refine and redefine their sound, inspired by a sudden creative surge from latest recruit Max Karon. The result is an gloriously idiosyncratic modern metal record, with Lauren Hart’s career-best vocal performance just one of its dazzling revelations. With Once Human’s most intense and explosive music to work with, the singer has pushed herself to new heights, showcasing a vastly expanded vocal range in the process.

As its title suggests, "Scar Weaver" is an album that brims and bulges with notions of pain, trauma and darkness. Lauren has once again penned a stunning collection of emotionally raw diatribes, but in contrast to Evolution’s overriding concept, the new record takes a more scattershot approach, reflecting the chaos of the modern world along the way. From visceral opener "Eidolon" to the corrosive claustrophobia of the closing "Only In Death", all human life is alive and screaming on Scar Weaver. More...

Playgrounded Releases New Single

Having played with big neo-prog acts like Riverside, Playgrounded are no strangers to outer limits of the contemporary merging of rock and electronica. Their upcoming album "The Death Of Death," released on 18th March, features compositions based from dynamic sound design structures by main composer Orestis. New single "The Swan” sees these glitchy synth textures seep through the negative space between languid guitar riffs and chugging bass grooves. The band comment,

"We share with you The Swan, the track that we have chosen as the opening of 'The Death Of Death.' The lyrics set the premise for the rest of the album: desperate or fascinating, one's relation to the world that surrounds us is grounded to the very matter of which we are made." More...

Metallica Guitarist To Release First Solo EP

Did somebody say solo project? You read right! Metallica guitarist, Kirk Hammett, has recorded Portals, a four-song instrumental EP, and will be celebrating Record Store Day with its worldwide release exclusively at your favorite local independent retailer and in the Met Store on Saturday, April 23. Available across digital platforms, on CD, and as an Ocean Blue Vinyl EP (including a download card), you’ll be able to pick up a copy at your friendly local record store that day or place an order on Metallica.com to be delivered to your front door just as soon as the postman can get there.

Says Kirk: "Initially, before I even had the idea for a solo EP, I was inspired by the need to create some sort of soundtrack music to accompany The Kirk Hammett Collection for the first 'It’s Alive' exhibition at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, 2017. I wanted to conceive music to play on a loop in the background as people walked through the exhibit. I sat down one night with a progression, and before I knew it, all the parts were there for 'Maiden And The Monster.'

"The initial concept for Portals started with that one song. Following that, I realized I could create different soundtrack moments. These songs are what I call ‘Audio Cinematic;’ I’m creating sounds and pieces of music for the movies playing in my head. Hopefully they’ll create movies in other people’s heads in a similar fashion." More...

Forever May Fall Unveils New Music Video

Forever May Fall has released their new single "Aftermath," co-written with and produced by Kile Odell (Motionless In White, Nita Strauss, Fozzy). The video was directed by Christian Lawrence and edited by Brandon Lane.

The desire for a more modern sound brought Forever May Fall to Kile Odell as the band sought a different message to send out to the world. "Aftermath" is the rebranding of Forever May Fall, or the rebirth - a word that has stuck with guitarist Colt Crevar since becoming a member of the band in late 2020. "We’ve all had some incredibly crappy things happen over the last few years and overcoming them, seeing where we are now, how blessed we’ve become, truly gives 'Aftermath' a passionate meaning," says Colt.

Vocalist Jillyan explains, "Initially, 'Aftermath' wasn’t intended to be a song of strength or reprieve. In fact, I was probably at my lowest when I went to the studio to write it. The initial demo was about being locked inside my head and consistently leading myself to failure."

Kile approached the message from a completely different direction, and with the help of Zach Williams (vocalist for Dead Eyes) the lyrics and song took shape into this anthem of power. This anthem of "No, I’m not doing this sad crap again, I’m going to make something out of this," as evidenced by the lyric "I’ll break myself, I’ll make myself the Aftermath." More...

Dark Funeral Releases "Nightfall" Music Video

Swedish black metal masters Dark Funeral release the second single "Nightfall" from their highly anticipated seventh album "We Are The Apocalypse," which will be released on March 18th, 2022 via Century Media Records.

While the first single "Let The Devil In" was an introvert journey, contemplating the darkness within, "Nightfall" is the diametral opposite. "Nightfall" is a display of blistering fury, invoking the seven witches, Lamashtu, to bring forth the eternal night.

The duties for filming, directing and editing the video were once again taken over by Grupa13.

Lord Ahriman about their brand-new track, "With ‘Nightfall’, we continue to push the boundaries and go faster than anything we have ever done before. I wanted to create the feeling of levitating above the soundscape and into my own dark and twisted world. At this speed, it was also a challenge to find a good balance and dynamic where melodies and atmosphere did not disappear in a noise, but I think we really nailed it! Nightfall gives epic a whole new meaning. Enjoy!"

Heljarmadr continues, "Sometimes I am quite glad that I am not a drummer. I think Jalomaah outdid himself here and it was like standing in a wind tunnel when we recorded it in the studio. But through all the high tempo hammering shines great detail and I think this song has a lot of dynamics. I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing the crowd chant "Nightfall" the day we bring it to the stage." More...
