Kreator Posts Behind The Scenes Video Online

The mighty Kreator recently announced that their fifteenth studio album, "Hate Über Alles," will be released on June 3. After releasing a music video for the title track, the band has now unveiled a behind the scenes video looking at the making of the clip. You can check it out below.

Syk Reveals New Album Details

Italian avant-extreme metal collective syk will unleash their long-awaited new full-length, "Pyramiden," on March 11th via Housecore Records in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe, today unveiling the record’s cover art, track listing, and first single.

"Pyramiden" was composed and recorded over the course of three years, the seven-track offering was mixed in the Winter of 2020/2021 at Inverno Studios under the supervision of Fabrizio Gesuato, while mastering took place at Anselmo’s own Nodferatu's Lair with Stephen Berrigan at the helm. The record features artwork by Elena Romenkova.

Comments Ferrian, "'Pyramiden' is about finding the way to isolate oneself to all the uneasiness coming from society, then find a suitable space to face one's uneasiness. It’s being in the farthest place on earth where silence gives room to all sorts of visions or hallucinations. As with the previous release, Pyramiden follows the alchemic principle of dissolving in order to assume a new shape but diving far deeper into obscurity where surviving means, in fact, to invent light into darkness." Hangman's Chair Releases New Music Video

French based doom metal visionaries Hangman's Chair have finally released their latest album "A Loner." The follow-up record to 2018’s "Banlieue Triste" is the band’s sixth studio album and their first record on Germany based, worldwide leading metal label Nuclear Blast Records. Inspired and adorned with true-to-life experiences, Hangman's Chair shine again with their recognizable sound and passionate storytelling to deliver a worthy longplayer to their fans after four years. The combination of dark and atmospheric elements together with emotional melodies and harmonies make Hangman's Chair stand out as a truly promising prospect in the French metal scene and beyond. To celebrate the release day, their latest single "Who Wants To Die Old?" comes along with a new music video.

Hangman's Chair about their album "A Loner":
"It’s been a long, long way to get to this day and the path was beset with difficulties. And now to hold 'A Loner' in our hands is an accomplishment and a relief, we’re just enjoying the fruits of our labor. The 3 singles we released were a taste of the album and to discover 'A Loner' as a whole will definitely be a different experience that we’re finally happy to share. To celebrate this day, we also released a new video, "Who Wants To Die Old?," directed by Oscar Bizarre, filmed in an old disused asylum hidden in the woods near Paris. A music clip that closes the trilogy of 'A Loner' videos."

Additionally, the band comments on the release of "Who Wants To Die Old?":
"This is where it all started, depression. Depression comes back like an old friend, always. It crawls and slithers like Colonel Kurtz’snail, along the edge of a straight razor, our spine. And it survives.
'Who Wants To Die Old' was written at the peak of a never ending depressed state and the stage was set for the rest of the album.

"Musically, it has been inspired by our main influences from the 90’s Brooklyn Type O Negative & Life Of Agony. Once again, Oscar Bizarre is behind the camera, filmed in an abandoned sanitarium hidden in the woods near Paris, where concrete and nature become one." More...

Morbid Angel Pulls Out Of Maryland Deathfest

The organisers of the Maryland Dearthfest event, which will take place from May 26th - 29th, has announced that a number of bands have pulled out of the festival for a variety of reasons. Most notable was death metal legends Morbid Angel, who appear to be concerned over safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of replacements have been found though and a statement from the organisers reads as follows:

"We're pleased to say that for the first time ever, Deicide will be performing the Legion album in its entirety at MDF 2022! They will be performing on Sunday, May 29th at Edison Lot.

"In other news, we need to report that the following bands have cancelled:

"Morbid Angel will no longer be performing at MDF 2022. Despite trying to convince them to not cancel, the only thing we've been told is that the band 'will not be playing MDF or any other shows in the current climate,' so we'll let you interpret that however you see fit.

"Archgoat and Valkyrja were due to tour together, but the tour fell apart, and despite attempts to salvage at least one of those bands playing only MDF, it just wasn't possible.

"Blaze Of Perdition have also cancelled due to their tour falling apart.

"Lastly, Antichrist have cancelled.

"Immolation will be replacing Valkyrja on Sunday at Edison Lot.
Profanatica will be replacing Archgoat on Sunday at Rams Head.
Akhlys will be replacing Blaze Of Perdition on Friday at Rams Head.
Sulfuric Cautery will be replacing Antichrist on Friday at Soundstage.

"As a reminder, ALL tickets for 2020 / 2021 are automatically valid for 2022. You don't need to take any action for these tickets to be valid."

Napalm Death Shares New Visualizer Video

Continuing the fearless exploration of their legendary sound’s outer limits, UK grindcore pioneers Napalm Death are releasing their newest Mini-Album "Resentment Is Always Seismic – A Final Throw Of Throes" today via Century Media Records.

A visualiser video created by Chariot Of Black Moth for the record’s experimental final track "Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Dirge)" is now available below.

"Resentment Is Always Seismic – A Final Throw Of Throes" is a partner recording to Napalm Death’s latest, much acclaimed "Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism" album from 2020, concluding matters through vital, tumultuous grindcore and shockwave ambience.

Napalm Death frontman Mark "Barney" Greenway commented as follows: "You can certainly consider “Resentment Is Always...” as an extension of - or partner recording to - the “Throes…” album. We had long since wanted to put a mini-album out – in the spirit of the old days – and found we had enough quality tracks even after all the “Throes...” bonus tracks to do that. Hopefully this mini holds some nice twists in its own right for people, and certainly covering “People Pie” by Slab! made us really stretch ourselves, which feels great artistically. In the end, resentment is certainly seismic – it can trigger the complete erosion of humanity in many situations. That was the point that I really wanted to hammer home overall" More...

Voivod Posts New Music Video Online

Today, Canadian progressive sci-fi metal innovators Voivod are releasing their newest studio album "Synchro Anarchy" via Century Media Records. In celebration of "Synchro Anarchy," a new video clip created by Felipe Belalcazar / Mental Pictures for the album track "Sleeves Off" can now be seen below.

Voivod vocalist and lyricist Denis “Snake” Bélanger checked in with the following comment about the track/video: "Here’s a cool clip from our friend Felipe Belalcazar. It’s a mixture of animation and live footage. The animation in the clip goes backwards, maybe in reference about the past when I had to make big decisions, as a teenager. Some were good, some were bad, but one thing for sure, I didn’t want to be cast in a mold to fit perfectly in the conformity of the world. I wanted to be me, show everyone who I was, do things on my own, and be creative. And when I met the boys, I found the place where I wanted to be. The live footage shows that I was right, as we are still going after so long. Enjoy!"

And Bélanger also added the following comment about today’s launch of "Synchro Anarchy": "Here it is folks. So proud to present this album to you. It is one of a kind, a very unique and distinctive album. It was made with all the passion we have for music under particular conditions. Driven by a nuclear brainstorm between the 4 of us in a state of emergency. Written, recorded, and delivered, and not necessarily in that order, we managed to do it all in a few months. We hope you will enjoy the album. We can’t wait to see you all of you, our fans out there on our upcoming tours. We’ve been missing you!" More...

Interview

Persefone On "Metanoia" And Representing Andorra

It's hard enough when a band is the only one playing metal in their town, but imagine being the only metal band in your whole country? For a long time, that's the situation that Andorra's, Persefone found themselves in. The progressive metal outfit have been going for twenty years now, steadily building a fan base across the globe, performing at such festivals as 70000 Tons Of Metal, all the while studying their craft and bringing new elements to their music with each album.

Last week, Persefone released their latest album, "Metanoia," through Napalm Records, their first output from a label of a major stature and already the reviews and fan response has been overwhelmingly positive. Their first album of new material in five years sees the group explore concepts and trials of the self and is as beautiful as it is ferocious. To find out more about this record, Metal Underground caught up with guitarist and founding member Carlos Lozano, who discussed the album's title and meaning, signing with Napalm, representing Andorra in the metal scene and much more. You can watch it in full below, while an excerpt from the chat reads as follows:

Diamond Oz: The new album, "Metanoia," is out now. Obviously it's very early days but so far how has the response been from fans?

Carlos Lozano: It feels like it's been really good. It's the first album we've done through Napalm Records and we're feeling the push from the label to get more people to listen to the music, so the feedback we're getting is way bigger than the last time. "Aathma" was a very successful record for us, but this one so far has been the most successful in terms of people listening to it.

Oz: What was it about Napalm Records that made the band feel like this was the right home going forward?

Carlos: We've worked with many labels in the past. We're a pretty old band at this point! The last two albums, they were like the most important for us, we were with this Swedish label called ViciSolum and there was this guy called Thomas, who was working a lot to help the band but he was just one person doing everything. Then, with this new album we had some interest from other record labels including Napalm, who were so willing to have the band on their roster, that was the key for us. So far, they haven't pushed us to do any artistic changes when it came to the writing of the music and they were willing to do whatever was necessary to get us on the roster. So, so far so good. They've been very supportive, very professional and they have a lot of people behind us, like one person for the marketing etc. so it's been a very pleasing and nice experience.
