Author & Punisher Releases New Single
San Diego-based outfit Author & Punisher treat fans to a third and final preview of the forthcoming album, "Krüller," out 11th February via Relapse Records, with the release of "Blacksmith." You can check out the song below.
“’Blacksmith’ is a track that I co-wrote with the Krüller producer Jason Begin (Vytear),” explains mastermind Tristan Shone. “This one is a bit of an adventure where we go from my slow bending drones and morph into Jason's jungle and breaks, with the same halftime bassline and vocals tying it together. Lyrically, this is an ode to Black women-led movements who have been fearlessly leading the way against oppression in this country for a long time."
Shone began work on Krüller after returning from his opening slot with Tool across the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, before being cut short due to the March 2020 lockdowns. "Melody has been and is still a part of my sound," says Shone. "I've always bathed them in a lot of reverb, delay, and distortion, though. This time around, I was bothered by the wall of distortion I had created. I wanted a little more clarity. I wanted to refine the sound. I wanted to step back from my own show and analyze it a bit. I had all these competing distortions that I wanted to streamline. I like contrast and wanted the vocals to be immediately noticeable. There's something about mixing punishing drones and rumble with a mellow thing on top that I really like on Krüller.” More...

The act has been quite prolific in spite of its short span of existence, having released various singles and EPs, in addition to a demo, a split and the fantastic debut “Eilatik” in 2020. The anonymous duo, operating under the pseudonyms “N.” and “M,” are set to release their sophomore full-length, “Basom Gryphos,” on March 7 via Nuclear Winter Records on CD. The label will co-release the vinyl version with Sentient Ruin, the tape version with Goat Throne. More...
Cobra Spell Shares New Music Video
Dutch heavy metal band Cobra Spell, featuring Crypta/former Burning Witches guitarist Sonia Anubis, Hitten vocalist Alexx Panza and Silver Talon's Sebastian Silva, has posted a new music video online for the song, "Addicted To The Night." You can check it out below. The song comes from the band's new EP, "Anthems Of The Night," which will be released on March 31st.
Sonia Anubis states: "This song speaks about the combined addiction to drugs and nightlife. A man follows his nocturnal routine at the strip club. His excess of drugs and sex make the party seem like a huge blast. Just when the party is past its peak, he needs more to let it last just a little longer. He eventually realises the effect of the drugs wear off. Subsequently, the party is not as fun when he is not high — the people at the club don’t look good anymore, the atmosphere turns uncomfortable and grim, he seems to be all alone by himself. It’s all a fantasy created by his brain on drugs. To numb the pain caused by the realisation of the reality he lives in, he repeats it the next night all over again."

Fueled By Fire Unleashes New Lyric Video
Los Angeles thrashers Fueled By Fire have unleashed the music video for their newest single, "Mangled Truth." The track is the B-side from "Past...Present...No Future...Part 2," the second in a pair of two-song 7-inch vinyl releases recorded by Allen Falcon (Exmortus, Blade Killer), mixed by Carlos Cruz (Warbringer, Power Trip) and mastered by Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust, Midnight). The new limited-edition 7-inch release is the follow-up to last fall's "Past...Present...No Future...Part 1" and will be released on Friday, March 4th.
"’Mangled Truth’ is a song about world leaders who hold the highest responsibilities in our society, who fail to deliver the most basic quality of trust, which is telling the truth," explains singer/guitarist Rick Rangel. "Worldwide, we see this again and again, whether it's election, financial gain, or even war, there are those in power who will be twisting reality and spitting lies." More...
Tymo Streaming New Album "The Art Of A Maniac"
Edmonton thrash attack Tymo will be unleashing their new album "The Art Of A Maniac" on February 5th for North America and Europe along with its Japanese release on February 16th via Spiritual Beast and before it officially drops, it can be heard in full via its stream premiere on SonicPerspectives here.
"The Art Of A Maniac" follows up 2017’s "Purge & Reset," which had a more of a melodic thrash/heavy metal sound, whereas the new album is higher energy; the songs are faster, the riffs are heavier, and overall the music is much more technical. Very true to the thrash metal genre, excitedly, vocalist/guitarist Tim Tymo explains further:
"This record is a great representation of where we are at now! Playing live with other thrash bands such as Hazzerd and WMD have definitely influenced this record! It feels good to have finally written a full-on thrash album and it was good to take the extra time over the pandemic and make sure we were satisfied with everything! We pushed our speed and playing boundaries on this record, it’s really different from our last album. Any fans of thrash metal will definitely appreciate this record and we hope it’s added to their collection. It's definitely our most aggressive and most focused record yet!"
Throughout “The Art Of A Maniac”, listeners will find a common theme of destruction and chaos, lyrically and musically as the album moves through very fast riffs, shreddy solos and thick angry vocals. Tymo touches on subjects of mental illness, alien invasion, civil conflicts, social media, substance abuse and the comedy of Rick & Morty. They are recommended for fans of Lich King, Municipal Waste and Exodus.
"The Art Of A Maniac" was mixed and mastered by Graham Smith at Atreus XO Studios along with the amazing album artwork created by Andrei Bouzikov (Vektor, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust).
"The Art Of A Maniac" will be available in North America and Europe on February 5th. The Japanese edition featuring two exclusive tracks will be released via Spiritual Beast on February 16th.

Månegarm Reveals New Album Details
Swedish folk metal pillars Månegarm have made a name for themselves in the international scene by releasing nine full-length records since their debut, "Nordstjärnans tidsålder," back in 1998. Now, the Scandinavian crew takes another stroll through ancient sagas and myths of long forgotten times on the successor of 2019’s chart-topping Fornaldarsagor with their upcoming 10th studio album, "Ynglingaättens Öde" (EN: the fate of the Ynglinga kin), out April 15, 2022 via Napalm Records.
In their multifaceted world of sound, Månegarm incorporate Pagan inspired lyricism based on the old Norse poem Ynglingatal, which describes the fate of an old Norse dynasty - the house of Ynglinga. Ynglingaättens Öde offers balanced variety and atmosphere, breathing new life into ancient myths.
To sink deep into this unique occasion and to keep the Viking flame burning bright, the three-piece have just released their staggering brand new track, entitled “Ulvhjärtat” (EN: the Wolfheart), alongside a gripping official music video. An acoustic introduction acts as a prelude for a stomping yet catchy hymn with harsh riffs, engaging drums and anthemic melodies, as Månegarm underline their standing as spearheads in the world of Viking metal once more.
