The Defaced Releases New Lyric Video

Swedish metal veterans, The Defaced are releasing a new video and single for "Bleeding Ore". The song is taken from the bands upcoming album "Charlatans" that will be released on March 4, 2022

The band about the song: "The lyrics of Bleeding Ore are about the utter frustration one can feel in a world that seems to look more into a narrower and more egocentric periscope. We tend to miss the holistic side of life and nature in a highly effective- and measurable world. When writing the lyrics, I felt a profound sadness that sometimes can flow over us, but at the same time I felt the need not to linger too long in these thought patterns.

"The video is a representation of how individuals can feel about personal trauma, but the video still has a more humoristic side with the unicorn that we used in the promo picture. My daughter's unicorn was in my car, and we started using it in the pictures, then we integrated it into the video to take the edge of all seriousness. The video and the lyrics were getting too dark. Hey, it's just music after all." More...

Sator Reveals New Album Details

Following their much acclaimed, latest record "Ordeal" (2017), Genoa-based heavy sludge and doom metal trio Sator has announced the release of their third studio album. "Cleansing Ritual" will be out on April 22nd through Argonauta Records.

Inspired by both the classic yet current scene, from the pioneers of doom and kraut-rock to modern extreme, sludge and post-metal bands, Sator merges an enthralling blend of all that is heavy, while doubling down their songwriting talent and colossal sound to a new level on "Cleansing Ritual." Slower, heavier, and even more psychedelic, Sator's forthcoming record proves to become one of the heavy doom and sludge metal highlights in 2022 – highly recommended for fans of acts such as EyeHateGod, Neurosis and alike – and ultimately sees the band stepping out as one of Italy’s best kept underground secrets!

Listen to a first sneak peak, as the trio just shared an album teaser below.

Guitarist Mauro: "Cleansing Ritual is our heaviest, most psychedelic album: a ritual of slow riffs and angst-ridden screams drenched in feedback and distortions. We cleanse ourselves from the evil of this world to become as pure as children. The Children of Doom...Doom's children."

Tracklist:

1. Ancient Disease
2. Solaris
3. Murder By Music
4. On The Edge More...

Caveat Streaming New Album

Caveat has been making music together for the better part of two decades and in that time they have put out five records, the most recent of which is the soon-to-be-released "Alchemy" that has been a few years in the making. This long-running band has made a name for themselves in the Canadian metal scene all the while refusing to be constricted to the genre rules and employing a vast array of influences and techniques in their music. This upcoming full-length is no different as it is progressive, aggressive and keeps the listener on their toes as they experience this complex and detailed musical offering.

The band says that they have been getting steadily more progressive since 2004 when guitarist Joe Sikorski joined the fray. With him, he brought many possibilities in the realm of guitar harmonies and his virtuosic skills as a soloist. They continue to say that they definitely peaked as far as technical prowess on 2006’s "Red," but the twin guitars, cross vocalization and wide variety of styles and songs have been a trademark of Caveat for almost 20 years. There is still innovation to be had though which they explain further:

"The creation of Alchemy has been one that has taken a few years to come to fruition, due to the stage and challenges of the modern world, but with that, we feel like the subject matter and music is more relevant than ever dealing with subjects such as addiction, the loss of a loved one, personal growth and even finding that light at the end of the tunnel. Being the band is now going on two decades of making music together, Alchemy is the first album putting newest member Amanda Marie Bourdon on lead vocal duties. She joined during the recording of our last album showing a glimpse of her vocal potential; this time around Amanda steps into the limelight as the main vocalist, which still sharing vocal duties with Greg Musgrave, but offering a new, fresh take on the Caveat sound taking the listener to uncharted territories that have turned out amazing."

"Alchemy" will be released tomorrow (February 11th) but can now be heard via The Prog Space.

Sanhedrin Shares New Music Video

New York’s Sanhedrin has debuted the first video from their upcoming album, "Lights On," set for worldwide release on March 4th. You can check it out below.

The Brooklyn power trio do metal the old school way, channeling the greats that preceded them to create something that is instantly familiar yet with a new, modern energy to it. On this particular track, vocalist/bassist Erica Stoltz explains, "’Lost at Sea’ is about how we are drowning in excess here in the developed world. We are moving ever further away from a seven-generations perspective of our own existence, the effect it has on the future and how it is tied to the past."

The video was shot at the historic King's Theatre in Brooklyn, NY. Built in the 1920's, it is a visually stunning facility with ornate features that lend itself to the lyrical theme of opulence. The vast ceilings, bold carvings and beautiful stage and seats provide an epic atmosphere for the band's performance. Also starring in the video is fellow Brooklyn metaller, Tanya Finder of the band Shadowland, as the death-dealing fortune teller.

Rounded out by drummer Nathan Honor and guitarist Jeremy Sosville the band state, “In a time where the world around you feels like it’s aflame, when our heavy metal heroes are beginning to disappear to failing health or changing social norms, we, Sanhedrin, stand here as a shining light through the dark. We are prepared to fly the flag of heavy metal in these trying and uncertain times and have only begun to show the world what we are capable of.” More...

Crown Magnetar To Release New EP In March

American modern deathcore juggernauts Crown Magnetar have announced their new EP, "Alone In Death," due 25 March via Unique Leader Records.

The band have also released the first single from the record, the ferocious "Realistic Flesh Mask" feat. Nick Arthur of Molotov Solution.

Crown Magnetar commented: "Everyone will experience death. This song is about having to be a fake version of yourself. Forced to hide your emotions and continue crawling through the mud endlessly. People may think you are strong when confronted with suffering. But all you want to do is curl up and die."

With a compelling combination of tech, core and death elements, Crown Magnetar emerged in 2017 showcasing technical riffs, relentless blast beats and crushing yet dynamic vocals. Releasing "The Prophet Of Disgust" EP in 2018, the band followed up with their critically acclaimed debut full-length entitled "The Codex Of Flesh" on 30th April, 2021 which they supported with a US tour alongside Lorna Shore.

Of the new EP Crown Magnetar adds, "While as a band we’ve always been about incredibly fast, incredibly jarring deathcore with a lot of death metal influence, Alone In Death was written with speed and captivation in mind the whole time, on top of our go-to writing styles. At the same time, we’ve added an emphasis on emotional depth, making sure the riffs and beats were as memorable as they were extreme. Everyone goes through varying degrees of hardship, pain and isolation. Alone in Death reflects that both lyrically and emotionally."

"Alone In Death" demonstrates a band not fucking around, showcasing a captivating display of precision, musicianship and relentless savagery across six blistering tracks, determined to claw their way to the very top of the deathcore pile. More...

Decapitated Confirms Rescheduled UK/Irish Tour

Decapitated are pleased to announce re-scheduled Irish/UK dates for their 25th Anniversary Tour, which was recently postponed due to the ongoing pandemic situation. The masterly death metallers will hit our stages throughout this March and April, accompanied by new special guests Signs Of The Swarm and Harbinger. New show dates have been added in Hull, Leeds, Bridgend, Norwich and Milton Keynes.

Decapitated's Vogg commented: "I still remember it like it was yesterday… 22 years ago, our first ever UK tour, straight after Winds of Creation was released. We'd been touring with Lock up and Corporation 187. That was the first time we played for fans in England, and they called us the "helicopter band" because we would windmill for the entire set. It was a really great time for us, and we received a warm welcome in every town. That's why I am grateful that Decapitated can come back to the UK/IRL, which are almost like our second homes when we talk about the metal scene. We can't wait to smash some venues we haven't played for years, like The Underworld in London, which is legendary, plus visiting completely new places like Bridgend, Milton Keynes and Hull, where we have never played before. Prepare for more songs from our old catalogue, Nihility and Winds of Creation. Prepare for death metal madness, and let's celebrate it all together like we always did. See you soon friends!"

Matt Pike Posts New Music Video Online

From rewriting the hard rock rulebook with his Grammy award-winning trio High on Fire, to reverse engineering doom metal with his genre-defining trio Sleep, Matt Pike has channelled his natural talents and chiselled a steely path straight to the heart of modern-day metal’s molten core.

On 18th February, Pike will release his debut solo LP, "Pike vs The Automaton," via MNRK Heavy.

Today, 10th February, Pike releases a video for the new song 'Land' which he describes as, "totally different, like an old blues song". The track and clip each feature Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds. You can check it out below.

Of the single, Pike comments: "'Land' was written after I had just come home from a tour. It's like an old blues song. I was thinking of it as like a bunch of old dudes in a subway doing a doo-wop thing. It has the feel of a two-step like my Mom used to dance to, like Country Western. It’s totally about depression and leading a hard life. Later, I was playing the song for Brent Hinds from Mastodon who had come out to Portland to jam with me and he laid down this smokin’-ass Billy Gibbons kind of solo! I did one solo and then he did his solo and I’m like, “You’re a dick,” (laughs). The bass player from Brent’s other band West End Motel, Steve McPeeks, played some stand-up bass – both plucking and with a bow – and it really brought out this depth to the song. I’ve never written a song like that and recorded it and made it as cool as it is. It’s totally different." More...
