Venom Prison Posts New Visualizer Video Online

On the album release day of their new album "Erebos," Venom Prison have another treat for fans – a new visualizer video for the song "Comfort Of Complicity," filmed by singer Larissa Stupar.

Venom Prison comment, "‘Comfort Of Complicity’ is a song about the European and American immigration systems and the way they break families apart and criminalise vulnerable people for simply wanting to give a better life for their families. Musically, this song goes through many sounds and emotions, and making it as one piece was a challenge. The song wanted to sound like a journey through aggression to a more major key moment with some form of hope."

About the release of their new album, Venom Prison enthuse, "We are extremely proud to have our 3rd full-length, 'Erebos,' finally out in the world. Bringing Venom Prison forward on this release, we’ve explored new avenues and added more depth and layers to our sound which listeners will find a new experience; 'Erebos' is full of surprises to say the least. It truly touches on social issues as expected, but this time it’s personal - with more emotion and attachment than ever before, anger with compassion. Balancing the darkness with light and showing a truer side to what really haunts through sound and words."

They continue, "Working with Scott Atkins on this record has been an absolute pleasure and really is the fulfilment plus more of what we had initially hoped to do when putting this record together. Thank you Eliran Kantor for continuously creating the incredible aesthetic and atmosphere to our artwork, expressing the sound perfectly in imagery. Massive thank you to Century Media for all their passion and contribution. For anyone that has checked out the singles, pre ordered, shouted about, that’s incredible, thank you." More...

Monuments Releases New Music Video

Transatlantic progressive metal outfit Monuments are releasing "Cardinal Red," another track and video taken from their forth album, "In Stasis," that is set for a release April 15th, 2022. While the song is out on all digital platforms the matching video, that was directed and produced by Sitcom Soldiers, can be seen below.

Says the band about the song and video: "The story outlined in this video, is without question, a metaphorical concept. The true meaning of ‘Cardinal Red’ can be found cryptically within the lyrics."

The band about "In Stasis": "We approached this album without the intention of a specific concept. However - three songs in, what was being written ended up sharing a common theme.

"This feeling of being stuck in the middle, a feeling we experience throughout our lives - within friendships and relationships, love to hate, life to death, belief or non-belief, being in power to total defeat, isolation to freedom. Over the past 2 years, we have been faced with many of these trials, and these struggles can be heard throughout the record.

"This record is a culmination of our greatest triumphs and our deepest struggles. We hope it resonates with you, and brings you closer to equilibrium.

"We'd like to thank guests Neema Askari (Form Subtract, ex Fellsilent, ex-Monuments), Spencer Sotelo (Periphery, King Mothership), and Mick Gordon (Doom, Prey, Killer Instinct) for enhancing the record with their unique perspectives." More...

Soil Covers Neil Young Classic

When word got back to Neil Young and his band that their 1989 concert performance scheduled to take place in the Soviet Union had been cancelled by antagonistic government authorities, Young’s guitar player Frank Sampedro replied to the news with “well, I guess we’ll have to keep on rockin’ in the free world.” And thus, one of the most legendary and fiercely defiant rock anthems of the 20th century was born.

The song became the bookends of Young’s brilliant studio album, Freedom, with an acoustic version kicking it off and an electric version closing it and would eventually be celebrated as one of Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time (#216).

Now that Young’s music has fallen silent on the world’s most prominent musical platform, Spotify, another band has stepped forward to make sure that Young’s rebellious spirit continues to live on with a powerful new version of "Rockin' In The Free World." Chicago alternative metal kings SOiL have released their own version of the song to all digital platforms, keeping the fire lit for future generations of rebels and iconoclasts.

As the band explains "Over the years, SOiL has considered covering Neil Young’s 'Rockin’ In The Free World' many times. It was a song that really struck a nerve with us individually in our younger days before SOiL was even a band. The song still stands the test of time and is as powerful today as it was back then. This version we recorded was scheduled to be released as part of a special upcoming album due out later this year, but we decided that now would be a good time to let everyone hear our take on the Neil Young classic with the SOiL twist. We hope you all enjoy it!"

Arch Enemy Shares "Handshake With Hell" Video

On July 29th, extreme metal masters Arch Enemy will release their 11th studio album, "Deceivers," via Century Media Records. For a preview of the record, the music video for the new single, "Handshake With Hell," can be seen below.

Michael Amott (Guitars) comments: "Our new single/video 'Handshake with Hell' started off with some riffs and melodies that I thought might be suitable for each other, and when I showed the parts I had to Daniel (Erlandsson, drums), he also felt it had potential. We worked on a demo of it, developing it much further together, and once we had reached a point where we felt it was ready, we sent the instrumental version to Alissa over in Canada. She came back with this really cool approach to the vocals and lyrics that elevated the song even further. To me, it's a stand-out track on the new 'Deceivers' album, really showcasing what we are capable of as songwriters and performers in 2022 - it's definitely one of the new songs I'm dying to play live on tour!"

Alissa White-Gluz adds: "When Michael and Daniel showed me the instrumental they had cooked up, I got a ton of vocal ideas to complete the song. 'Handshake with Hell' has a classic heavy metal feel, and it felt like the right time to unleash some classic heavy metal vocals to match. I think the result is really interesting and catchy!" Today the band unveils the new single and video for "Electroniria," which you can check out below.

"‘Electroniria’ is a very important song to us. It’s about live music and the vibes you feel at those events. It’s a kind of parallel reality which helps us to escape from our routine. I think everybody who goes to the gigs of their favourite bands can understand the message of this song." explains Fabio Tats.

Mortemia Posts New Lyric Video Online

Morten Veland (Sirenia, Mortemia and founder of Tristania) released the 7th Mortemia song from "The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions" on the 29th of January. The track was entitled ‘Here Comes Winter’ and features Maja Shining (Forever Still) on guest vocals. Today the lyric/performance video of the same song is out!

Morten Veland: "I am proud and honoured to introduce my friend Maja Shining as my special guest for ‘The Pandemic Pandemonium Sessions’. The seventh song is entitled ‘Here Comes Winter’, and will be available on all digital platforms from the 29th of January 2022. Me and Maja toured together back in 2019, when both Sirenia and Forever Still were on the billing of the ‘Female Metal Voices Tour’. We became great friends right away, and it was a pleasure to hear Maja and the band perform every time. I feel truly privileged and thankful to have Maja onboard this project, and I am really looking forward to sharing this song with you all. This song is quite slow and atmospheric, but still packs some heaviness, even a bit doomy at times. And the amount of emotions that Maja has poured into her performance on this song I find no less than breathtaking."

Maja Shining: "I met Morten, back when we were touring with Forever Still and Sirenia on the last tour before covid paralyzed the world and put an end to touring for longer than anyone could have possibly imagined. We bonded fast on the month-long Female Metal Voices Tour (maybe it was the Nordic kinship,) so I was very excited, when Morten asked me to collaborate on a song for Mortemia and said yes before even hearing it. The time of release couldn’t be more ideal, as the song perfectly embodies the spirit of cold, dark Scandinavian winter and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did working on it!" More...

Halestorm Announces New Album

Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Mastodon, Alice in Chains) with co-production by Scott Stevens (Shinedown, Daughtry, New Years Day), "Back From The Dead" quickly evolved from songwriting exercises into a matter of survival for the band.

Lead singer Lzzy Hale says, "We started writing this album about three months B.C. (Before COVID). Once we went into lockdown and were unable to perform and tour, I fell into a dark place and something of an identity crisis. This album is the story of me carving myself out of that abyss. It is a journey of navigating mental health, debauchery, survival, redemption, rediscovery, and still maintaining faith in humanity."

Today, Halestorm also revealed "The Steeple," the second single from "Back From The Dead." "The Steeple" follows the album’s title track, "Back From The Dead," released last autumn. Listen below. More...

Ithaca Reveals New Album Details

Acclaimed UK metallic hardcore troupe Ithaca have announced their long-awaited second album, "They Fear Us," due 29th July via Hassle Records.

The band have also released the first single from the record, the scorching title track "They Fear Us." Soaring, triumphant choruses, a fearsome breakdown and call-to-arms, and majestic solo from guitarist Sam Chetan-Welsh, mark "They Fear Us" as Ithaca's best song yet; an indication of the level of quality on offer with their new album.

Pre-order the album and stream the single here.

In the words of Ithaca: "We’re proud to present ‘They Fear Us’, the debut single from our second album.

"We chose this as the first single because it reflects one of the big themes of the album - discovering and harnessing inner power, strength, revenge and retribution; challenging masculine power structures both in a general but also deeply personal sense. It’s a deific statement of intent - they may have hurt us before but now they fear us and you should too.

"These ideas are reflected in the lyrics but also in the musical choices. The vocal sample is a field recording Sam made while he was in India grieving his mother’s death, of a priest leading a Ganga Aarti ceremony next to the Ganges - this ceremony invites Mother Ganga in and asks for her blessing, reflecting the power of the divine feminine. The drum break is pitched up to create a similar sound to a dhol.

"We’re so happy to share music that we feel reflects who we truly are as a band, standing unapologetically as us." More...

Kreator To Release New Album In June

The mighty Kreator are proud to announce their fifteenth studio album, "Hate Über Alles," which will be released on June 3rd, 2022. Five years after their highly acclaimed album “Gods Of Violence” (2017), peaking at #1 in the German album charts, the genre-defining band are proud to present this 11-track behemoth.

For 37 years, Kreator has spear-headed a thrash metal crusade, inspiring generations of metal heads and musicians alike. The collision of traditional and contemporary values is a sentiment that Mille Petrozza has breathed in to the soul of this monumental new album; recruiting visionary producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy, Ghostmane and Turnstile) from Philadelphia to work with the band at the legendary Hansa Studio in Berlin. “Hate Über Alles” features gorgeously grim cover artwork by renowned artist Eliran Kantor (Testament, Thy Art Is Murder, Helloween), serving a bold statement against hate and division in today's society.

Mille Petrozza comments:
"Hate Über Alles reflects the time we’re living in. Everything is really loud and aggressive. The way we communicate has changed, thanks to social media. It causes a lot of imbalance. The world is in a state of disrepair. Life is not harmonic right now, it’s disharmonic… that’s where I was going with the title."

Today also marks the release of the first new Kreator single, the vicious title track "Hate Über Alles," for which the band has produced a thrilling music video that should be mandatory viewing for every metal fan! More...
