Multi-platinum artists and Texas heavy rockers, Drowning Pool, will release their forthcoming studio album, "Strike A Nerve," via UMe/T-Boy. This is Drowning Pool’s seventh studio album and third with frontman Jasen Moreno.
Founding members C.J. Pierce, Stevie Benton and Mike Luce have played together for an uninterrupted 25 years, with Moreno joining the band in 2012. The singer’s 2013 debut, "Resilience," was recently RIAA-certified gold, further cementing Drowning Pool’s presence as a pioneer of the nu-metal movement and one of the new millennium’s premier hard rock/heavy metal crossovers.
Fueled by the hit singles "Bodies," "Tear Away" and title track "Sinner," the band’s 2001 debut is currently RIAA-certified platinum and closing in on double-platinum status. With a platinum album and two gold records already on their résumé , Drowning Pool are looking to the future with the new release.
"I’m so grateful for such a big opportunity and proud of everyone’s hard work that afforded us this chance," says lead singer Jasen Moreno. "It’s been such a flood of emotions since we started recording this album and talking to Universal. It almost didn’t seem real when everything was put on pause because of Covid. I’m so eager for people to hear the new record and get out there and perform it live. I’m very excited and I welcome the pressure of the moment, but what I feel most is gratitude and anticipation for what the future holds." More...
Tyr Shares New Live Video
Ahead of their upcoming live album, Nordic metal troop Tyr have debuted the stunning new video "Hold The Heathen Hammer High." The video comes from the bands famed performance with the Symphony Orchestra of the Faroe Islands, filmed on February 8th, 2020, at the Nordic House in Tórshavn, Faroes Islands, and compliments Tyr's shimmering, infectious sound in a crystal-clear live setting.
"The lyrics of ‘Hold the Heathen Hammer High’ are about upholding the old Northern ways, but in a modern fashion, not religiously but culturally," explains Tyr founder, guitarist and vocalist Heri Joensen. "The original video was very anti-Christian, although that was never the main message of the song. This new symphonic live version, with the symphony orchestra Holding the Heathen Hammer High with us, will bring out the modern heathen in us all!"
The live album, "A Night At The Nordic House (With the Symphony Orchestra of the Faroe Islands)," will be available in multiple limited-edition vinyl variants, including 2 LP (gatefold, with insert, poster, digital download), a 2 CD/DVD digi-book with 12-page booklet, and everywhere digital music is sold on March 18th, 2022. Guillotine A.D. Signs With M-Theory Audio
Southern death metal band Guillotine A.D. - whose music blends the sounds of old-school Florida death metal, Scandinavian black metal, and New Orleans sludge into a wholly unique brew – have signed with M-Theory Audio. The group's as-of-yet-untitled second album and label debut is slated for a Summer 2022 release. In the meantime, you can experience the initial taste of the pummeling to come with the lyric video for "Hammer," the first single off of the upcoming record, below.
Says bassist/vocalist Adam Miller, "'Hammer' is the first song we wrote after our first album was released. It is pure head-on aggression and shows in a straightforward way what we’re about. It’s a fun violent song about burning witches. It wasn’t intentionally written as such, but it could be a prequel to that Diamond Head song. Raf Ortega made a fantastic lyric video that perfectly captures the essence and intensity of the song. Play it at MAXIMUM VOLUME, soak it all in, and then get ready, because we have so much more to show you."
Says, guitarist/vocalist Lance Miller, "We are thrilled to be a part of the M-Theory Audio family alongside such a talented and exciting roster of bands! It is a huge honor to work with Marco Barbieri, and with his guidance we will continue to grow and push ourselves further. We look forward to what we can accomplish with him and the rest of the M-Theory team." More...
Within Temptation Announces Rescheduled Tour Dates

Both bands stated earlier: "As the world is slowly reopening again, we have been feeling optimistic about the tour actually taking place in March and April. However - a lot of countries still have restrictions in place, and we are forced to make a decision right now for logistical reasons.
"We are aware that many fans are preparing to make their plans to attend the shows, some of which involve travel, and given the uncertainty as to exactly when certain countries will lift their restrictions, we are left with no choice but to reschedule the tour, hopefully for the final time."

Trollfest Reveals New Album Details
More flamboyant than Elton John, as intense as Slipknot, cooler than Limp Bizkit and boasting dance tunes that would make even ABBA proud —Trollfest has it all and more.
Catchy, groovy and threatening to have you seeing Flamingos wherever you walk in life, Trollfest's Flamingo Secret Agents will soon be everywhere.
Trollfest have announced the upcoming release of their ninth full-length studio album, entitled "Flamingo Overlord," to be released via Napalm Records on May 27, 2022. In celebration of today’s announcement, Trollfest have dropped an outrageous second single, entitled "Twenty Miles An Hour!" The track (slowly) takes flight, perfectly illustrating their diverse, infectious grooves with a humorous mixed green-screen animated music video, created by Mr. Seidel! With "Twenty Miles an Hour," Trollfest prove they’re just along for the wild ride that is life (albeit at 20 mph).
Trollfest on "Twenty Miles an Hour":

Exhorder Parts Ways With Guitarist
New Orleans groove metal pioneers Exhorder has announced that they have parted company with guitarist Marzi Montazeri, who joined in 2017 and performed on the band's comeback album, "Mourn The Southern Skies." A statement from the band reads as follows:
"Some of you may have seen Marzi Montazeri’s announcement yesterday that he no longer wants to be a part of Exhorder.
"First and foremost, we want to thank Marzi for his time and wish him well moving forward. Secondly, we want to clarify that somewhere between the process of writing the new album began and the touring we’ve done since, it became clear to all parties involved that Exhorder and Marzi were moving in different directions. This is a natural course of action that happens every day in the world of creativity. An action plan has been in place since we returned from tour to evolve once again.
"Rehearsals have resumed, and aside from fine tuning, writing for a new album is structurally complete. There are no open auditions at this time, so we thank the many that have inquired about the job opening- but we’ve got this!
"Exhorder is a band that has been dealing with lineup changes since the 80’s, so rest assured there is no doubt that we will continue to thrive. We look forward to bringing the show to the stage once again. There may be a face (or faces) that you recognize moving forward, as well as some other surprises. At the very least, we’re quite sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we currently are!"
Space Of Variations Posts New Music Video Online
Unstoppable Ukrainian metalcore unit Space Of Variations drifts off into distant universes with their second single "vein.mp3," taken from their upcoming full-length, "Imago" (out March 18 via Napalm Records). Like a bestial alien, "vein.mp3" goes wild with shattering drums, thudding bass, heavily distorted guitars and evil screams. Following first single "Someone Else," "vein.mp3" provides another varied taste of what’s to come on "Imago," and the band’s live attack, as witnessed during their previous performances with modern metal giants Jinjer across Europe. Beware of this musical demon named Space Of Variations!
Space Of Variations Singer Dima on “vein.mp3”:
"We are a by-product of our systems and concepts. Slaves of micro worlds. Fragile eyewitnesses of our own strength and weakness. We find each other and lose ourselves in someone, watching how beautiful becomes disgusting. From the dense darkness we reach for the light. This is how we feel about this song. This is probably what you feel sometimes." More...

Praying Mantis Experiences "Katharsis"
As has been said so many times before, the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal continues to be a great source of old school heavy metal music, which took the musicianship of their forebears and the attitude of punk and brought hard rock back to the streets. As one might expect, London was one of the key scenes in this nationwide movement and while one may immediately point to Iron Maiden as the capital's premier act, anyone in the know will immediately tell you of the quality of Praying Mantis.
Praying Mantis began life in the mid seventies but began to get noticed a few years later when the NWOBHM kicked into full gear. In 1981, the band unleashed their debut full lenghth, "Time Tells No Lies," which reached number sixteen in the British album charts. Unfortunately, the band broke up the next year but would reunite the next decade and release a string of albums before going their separate ways again. Not to be held down, Praying Mantis returned once more in 2008 and the next year released, "Sanctuary" through Frontiers Music, whom the band are still signed to today.
Fast forward to the present day and Praying Mantis has once again released a stunning collection of frenetic energy and lush melodies in the form of "Katharsis." To find out more about the record, we spoke with guitarist, founder and original vocalist Tino Troy, who shed light on everything regarding the album, as well as the origins and influences of the band, the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and much more. You can watch the conversation in full below.
Diamond Oz: The new album, "Katharsis" is out now. It’s a really solid album and people are really picking up on Jaycee's vocals. This lineup has been together for a few years now, since "Legacy." Would you say that this is the strongest Praying Mantis lineup?
Tino Troy: Definitely, because we've been together for the last three albums and everything's just sort of gelled and you can see the transition between each album is just getting better and better, whereas normally it's hard to better your previous album. In the old days, bands had to work. They did an album and then went straight out on tour with it and wrote their albums on the road, which meant you’d get some sub-standard albums with only two or three good tracks. Whereas this way, we’ve actually been able to hone it and polish it. The reviews have been fantastic.
Oz: And rightly so. Obviously you’ve done the two music videos, but the one that stands out to me the most is "Cry For The Nations." That’s so energetic and powerful and it’s like the perfect song to show people who ask what Praying Mantis are like.
Tino: It's a bit of an all round song as well because you get sort of like, light and shade in the song, with the slow intro that sort of lulls you into a false sense of security and then we’re away! Funnily enough that song is like a modern day update of "Children Of The Earth," which is a track that stands out to a lot of fans, they always sing along to it at the gigs. "Children Of The Earth" was a song that was about all these ecological issues that were happening fifty years ago. Chris wrote that song in 1974 and it's taken us nigh on fifty years to start doing something about it and this sort of a modern version, "Let’s get our s.h.i.t. together and go for it!"
Oz: And of course the album is called, "Katharsis." It’s quite notable that you’ve used the original Greek spelling of the word.
Tino: It is. Well, funnily enough, we were searching for a title and I've got thousands of them, when I'm dead all these lists of song titles and lyrics and stuff like that will probably come out and it'll go for fortunes! But Rainer Kalwitz, the artist who did this, also did the "Sanctuary" album in a very similar fashion, that statue of liberty with the spikes coming out with the skull showing and this was a transition of that basically. So we asked, "What’s the name of this art?" and he replied, "Katharsis," so we all thought, "Oooh! We like that!" It went with all the one word titles of the albums we’ve had previously, since "Sanctuary" really.More...So the title works really well and it actually means purgation of the soul through one’s emotions and that shows on this album, through the whole thing from Corona virus to the decimation of the planet and everything. So yeah, that stuck with us and we thought, "We'll keep it with a K as well," which is also the German spelling, so we kept it true to his artwork. It also makes for a nice question for an interview! We've had that about three times now!
