Sirenia Reveals New Album Details

Mastermind Morten Veland has just one thing in mind for Sirenia in 2016: pure and utter melancholy. Almost two years after the release of "The Seventh Life Path," this Norwegian is ready to unleash his latest dark vision of gothic and symphonic metal that shuns the light.

"Dim Days of Dolor" is the title of the upcoming album bearing artwork created by Gyula Havancsák. Morten Veland comments:

"It is always a great feeling to have completed a new album. With eight Sirenia albums under the belt some people ask me if it is difficult to keep up the enthusiasm at this point. But that's not problematic at all, I have never been so enthusiastic about any album before. With this album we have reached new heights that seemed out of reach in the past.

"I feel that the countless hours we have put into this album really have paid off in the end. This album is also the most diverse album we've done to date, also the performances has never been better. I can't wait to share this album with all the Sirenia fans and metal heads out there. This album will mark a special point in the band's career, I am sure." More...

Departe Posts New Song Stream

Australia's extreme metal luminaries from Departe are streaming the second new track from their debut full-length album, "Failure, Subside." The track, an imposing piece titled "Grief Echoes (Golden Scars)," is available below.

The band comments: "Our new track 'Grief Echoes (Golden Scars)' speaks of both regret and restoration - the suffocating guilt of wounds inflicted through one's own malice and inaction, counterpointed by the sweetness of renewal and rebirth. Things that once were dead are seeing new life, and old wounds are transformed into things of beauty. 'Grief Echoes (Golden Scars)' is sonically crushing, sinister, and hypnotic, trailing the lyrics throughout from overwhelming darkness, through contemplation, into cathartic emotional release."

New album "Failure, Subside" will be released by Season of Mist worldwide on October 14th and features the following track listing:

1. Seas of Glass
2. Ashes in Bloom
3. Wither
4. Grief Echoes (Golden Scars)

Earthside Releases "Crater" Video

New Haven-based progressive ensemble Earthside is gearing up for a North American tour later this month supporting Norwegian metal act Leprous. Today, the band is giving fans a glimpse at one of the key aspects of its live performance in the form of the backing video for the track "Crater."

The visual component to Earthside's live "Crater" performance, complete with special guest vocalist Björn Strid of Soilwork, can be viewed below. Earthside comments:

"We make every effort with our music to give you all something unique and heartfelt that breaks from the norm. We did this by taking a no-limitations approach to our songwriting on A Dream in Static and working with a number of incredible guest musicians. It follows in suit that our live show should also bring something special to the Earthside mythos.

"We collaborated with several amazing vocalists for A Dream in Static and, unfortunately, we can't bring them all on the road with us. To avoid compromising the stellar performances of Björn [Strid], Dan [Tompkins], Lajon [Witherspoon], and Eric [Zirlinger] during our live shows, we came up with a unique solution. We captured full-body video of their performances and infused them with intense visuals to create a powerful multimedia element that we project alongside each of these songs."

The upcoming September/October tour reunites Earthside and Leprous following a European stint with Voyager earlier this year. Binary Code and Dissona will round out the North American tour package. A full list of dates can be seen below.

Earthside drummer Ben Shanbrom states: "Leprous is truly a part of the next generation of progressive music. In less than a year they have become one of Earthside's absolute favorite bands - they're good friends, great people, and unbelievable musicians and performers. It was an amazing experience touring with them and Voyager earlier this year across Europe, and we are so happy to be supporting them in our home country this fall." More...
