Misanthropic Rage Releasing "Gates No Longer Shut"
Polish avant-garde black metal group Misanthropic Rage has announced the release of upcoming full-length album, "Gates No Longer Shut."
The new material will be released through Godz ov War Productions in November of 2016 and follows the dark experimental path which was paved by the recently spawned EP, "Qualia." Get a taste of "Gates No Longer Shut" by listening to brand new track "Into The Crypt" below. The band comments:

Alestorm Cancels Canadian Shows
Alestorm is now officially a sad pirate metal band as upcoming Canadian dates are canceled due to the bane of all metal bands: the dreaded visa issues.
If only it had been a killer kraken instead! Alestorm comments:

U.S. group Trauma has announced the “Rising in The West” tour alongside Taipan, with the band commenting: "Trauma is looking forward to getting back out on the road and greet our old fans and creating new ones."

Act Of Defiance Kicks Off U.S. Tour
Act Of Defiance - featuring within its ranks Chris Broderick (ex-Megadeth), Shawn Drover (ex-Megadeth), Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall, Times Of Grace), and Henry Derek (Scar The Martyr) - will return to the road for a U.S. run of headlining shows tomorrow.
The band's fall live takeover begins September 14th in Salt Lake City, Utah and rolls through October 13th in San Diego, California. Additionally, the band will appear with Killswitch Engage and Hellyeah on select dates.

Soliloquium Announces New Album
Soliloquium is a three piece melodic doom/death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden featuring members of Desolator and Ending Quest.

Atonismen Releases "Wise Wise Man" Video
Russian chamber gothic metal band Atonismen today premieres a new music video for "Wise Wise Man," taken from an upcoming EP release. The band was formed by composer and singer Alexandr Orso in 2016. In November, Atonismen will head out for a first tour with Russian folk band Izmoroz.
Enslaved Announces "Vikingligr Veld" Vinyl Release
Norwegian progressive extreme metal band Enslaved will issue debut full-length, the now legendary "Vikingligr Veldi," on vinyl for the first time ever.
Set for release on September 23rd, 2016 via By Norse Music, the limited 2xLP gatefold edition includes a new layout design by Z. Bielak (Ghost, Mayhem etc.) as well as four brand new illustrations specially made for this offering. Additionally, the record has been remastered for vinyl by Iver Sandøy.
Initially released in 1994, "Vikingligr Veld" was co-produced with Pytten (Immortal, Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor et al) in Bergen, Norway. The album features lyrics in Icelandic, and is a tribute to the Norse landscape, history, and mythology.
"We have been waiting since the day we recorded it," comments Enslaved's Ivar Bjørnson, "and at last it is happening! It has been a challenging journey, and it has demanded a lot of patience and understanding from all parts involved. Ragnarok Announces European Tour
Having recently announced a renewal of the band's relationship with Agonia Records, veteran Norwegian black metallers Ragnarok just announced the full schedule for an upcoming headlining European tour.
The trek will take place in October of this year and the eleven date tour also features Slovenian black metal band Cvinger and Norwegian death metal group Mecalimb.

Esben And The Witch Posts "The Wolf's Sun"
The English-via-Berlin post rock trio Esben And The Witch is now streaming the second new track from upcoming album "Older Terrors." The track, an expansive slow burner titled "The Wolf's Sun" is streaming below.
"Older Terrors," the band's third album, and first with Season of Mist, will be released worldwide on November 4th. Regarding "The Wolf's Sun," the band comments:
"An ode to Luna, a blazing white rock. We find ourselves drawn to and driven by a night lust as old as the firmament itself. The first chapter marks the laden swagger of the satellite, a pendulous, ominous beacon. Switching to the second movement, the maniacal march of its wide-eyed disciples, entranced by its heady glow. Rampaging with hearts as swollen as the moon itself – 'Light it is blooming, A madness consuming, Inside your head, Inside your hands. In love! I’m raptured!"
Regarding this upcoming album, the band continues, "Our forthcoming album 'Older Terrors’ was written and recorded over the course of a year in Berlin, our adopted home. Bowl 4 Ronnie Details Announced
The second annual Bowl 4 Ronnie party, benefiting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, will take place on November 4th, 2016 at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California.
Hosted by VH-1's Eddie Trunk, the event will include a celebrity bowling tournament, a raffle drawing and a special live auction. The inaugural Dio Cancer Fund bownling party, held in May 2015 as part of the commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the passing of rock legend Ronnie James Dio, contributed to raising $155,000 for the cancer charity from that weekend's events.
Among the raffle prizes will be a specially-designed bowling ball and the live auction will include music memorabilia and celebrity signed guitars, among them a 6-string Jackson guitar donated by Chris Broderick of Act of Defiance, who will be in attendance, stage played while on tour with Megadeth in 2012 (as well as autographed photos of Chris playing that same guitar). Voodoo Terror Tribe Reveals New Album Details
On November 11th, Voodoo Terror Tribe will release third full-length offering "The Sun Shining Cold." You can pre-order the album now via Bandcamp. The 10-track album delivers in-your-face hard rock anthems, soaring ballads and alt-metal scorchers;
Produced by Ill Niño lead vocalist Cristian Machado, "The Sun Shining Cold" was recorded at Sound Wars Studios in Hoboken, NJ and mixed at Fuel Music Studios in Anaheim, CA.
"This album is possibly one of the best metal albums I've ever been a part of," states Machado. "You don't always get to work with such talented musicians who just so happen to be mature and dedicated to bringing something fresh to the evolution of the genre. I comfortably refer to them as 'haunted metal' but in all honesty they are a new breed of metal yet to be heard under this style and context. In my heart of hearts, I truly believe they are here to contribute an impressive approach and styling to the evolution of metal."
Guitarist Emir Erkal adds, "We know the scene, and the scene knows us, but we're coming at this with full force in a new way with a new sound. Operation: Mindcrime Releases New Video
"Resurrection," the new album from Operation: Mindcrime (the brainchild of vocalist Geoff Tate) is set for a worldwide release on September 23rd, 2016.
Today the band premieres a new video for the song "Taking On The World," featuring guest appearances from Tim "Ripper" Owens and Blaze Bayley, both of who will be touring with Tate later this year as part of the "Trinity" tour.

International act Light & Shade - featuring Seven Spires vocalist Adrienne Cowan (USA), Temperance/Secret Sphere guitarist Marco Pastorino (IT), Temperance bassist Luca Negro (IT) and guest drummer Alex Landenburg (GER) of Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody/21 Octayne - issued the cover art and track list for the debut album "The Essence of Everything." The album is set for release on November 18th (USA) and November 25th (EU) via Scarlet Records.

Norway's Ancient will release the long awaited 7th studio album, “Back To The Land Of The Dead,” on September 16th in North America via (Megadeth bassist David Ellefson’s) EMP Underground/EMP Label Group, and in the rest of the World by Soulseller Records.

Lightning Strikes Signs With Pure Legend Records
Los Angeles, CA based heavy metal band Lightning Strikes has signed a worldwide deal with Pure Legend Records, a division of Pure Steel Records. The band will issue the forthcoming eponymous debut album soon.
“All can say is that we are excited to be part of the Pure Legend Records roster worldwide”, states Lightning Strikes founder/drummer, Karpis Maksudian. “I think Pure Legend know the market very well and the people at the label will work hard to get ‘Lighting Strikes’ the attention it deserves and needs. We can’t wait to get this album out to all the metal heads who appreciate classic heavy metal.”
Originally formed in 1985, Lightning Strikes was briefly part of the bustling L.A. scene, releasing a now highly collectable 7” single in 1986 before the breaking up in late 1987, despite drummer Karpis Maksudian’s attempts to carry on with a new line-up. Fast forward to 2011 when Maksudian began to assemble a new version of Lightning Strikes, featuring bassist Cat Tate (Snew, Red Again) who was part of the original band, guitarist Rob Math (Leatherwolf, Player), and vocalist Nando Fernandes (Hangar). Adding to the band’s fire power, Maksudian brought in a trio of guest players, keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Kiss), as well as Tony Martin (Black Sabbath) and Japanese visual kei star Noah (Avanchick) on lead vocals.

Gatecreeper Posts New Song "Stronghold"
Death metal newcomers and recent Relapse signees Gatecreeper just shared another savage new single, "Stronghold," lifted from forthcoming full-length debut "Sonoran Depravation," which is set to drop next month via Relapse Records.
Notes Gatecreeper vocalist Chase Mason of the track, "Chronologically, this is the oldest song on the record. We wrote this song early on and it has been a staple in our live set ever since. The Bolt Thrower influence on this one is more than obvious. This is the sound of being run over by a tank."

Bölzer Sets Date For Debut Release, Song Streaming
Today, Iron Bonehead Productions set November 25th as the international release date for Bölzer's massively anticipated debut album, "Hero."
Hailing from Switzerland, Bölzer is one of the most unique entities the metal underground has birthed in years. For one, Bölzer is proudly and resolutely a duo, using the barest essentials of voice, guitar, and drums and yet creating one of the densest, most world-eating sounds around. For another, the duo have wisely and patiently parceled out their recordings, with a lone nine songs to date across three records - 2012's "Roman Acupuncture" demo, 2013's Iron Bonehead-released "Aura" EP, and 2014's "Soma" EP - judiciously chronicling the band's evolution into one of the most critically acclaimed metal bands in recent memory. The Reticent Brings Forth "The Confrontation"
The Reticent debuted the new track "The Confrontation" over at Dead Rhetoric at this location (also in the player below). The song is taken from the upcoming new release from Heaven & Hell Records entitled "On The Eve Of A Goodbye." The album drops on October 5th.
The album was produced by Jamie King (BTBAM, The Wretched, Scale The Summit), and will be released on limited edition CD with complete lyrics.
"On The Eve Of A Goodbye" is an autobiographical concept album. All of the tracks serve to detail the day before, day of, and day after the suicide of The Reticent's mastermind Chris Hathcock's childhood friend, Eve. The songs chronicle his concern for her, her deterioration into self-hatred, and culminates with the tragic act and its aftermath. Not only a stylistic contrast to previous releases, this album is also intensely more personal than past Reticent albums (which were already emotional purges). The album is intended to be heard as a single entity rather than a collection of tracks.

Warbringer Posts Third Studio Update On New Album
California thrashers Warbringer posted a third studio update on the upcoming fifth studio release. The band is recording the fifth studio album at West Valley Studios with producer Mike Plotnikoff.

Varego Unveils "Epoch" Artwork, New Single
Italian progressive/post-metal act Varego revealed the cover artwork (shown below) of the new release "Epoch" and is streaming the new single "Alpha Tauri" in the player below.
After joining forces with producer Billy Anderson for mixing and mastering, the band teamed up with long time collaborator Marco Castagnetto for the new cover artwork.
The band says: "It is great to have again Marco on board, listening to our songs and working on an original artwork for our album. He is able not only to create stunning illustrations, but also to capture the essence of the band while realizing a perfect blend of details where fiction, philosophy and arcane secrets collides."
On the single "Alpha Tauri," the band commented: "Alpha Tauri marks a new beginning for us. Being on hold since a bunch of years, we focused our efforts to create a new journey based on our main influences, which is something coming from the 'voivodian' world. We hope you enjoy the energy of our songs as we do.”

Italian guitarist Giordano Boncompagni (Lunocode) will release a new solo album entitled "New Shred Generation" on September 15th via Sliptrick Records. The album will feature a myriad of guest musicians including Aquiles Priester (Noturnall), Tony Macalpine and Franck Hermanny (Adagio).
"New Shred Generation" was recorded at New Shred Studios and Anima Studios in Perugia and was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (Dgm, Empyrios) at Domination Studio in San Remo. The artwork (shown below) was designed by Colin Marks (Strapping Young Lad, Jeff Loomis, Fleshgod Apocalypse).

Dutch symphonic black metal act Carach Angren issued a new music video for the song "When Crows Tick On Windows." The track is lifted from the band's latest effort "This Is No Fairytale," which was issued back in 2015 (check out our review here).

Once Human Issues "Eye Of Chaos" Video Clip
California's Once Human - featuring ex-Machine Head/Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader" - released a video clip for the new song "Eye of Chaos." The song will be featured on the new album "Evolution," which drops on January 20th via earMusic.
Mader commented: "'Eye of Chaos' is one of the first songs we completed in production of our forthcoming album, 'Evolution.' This song is a good introduction to our new sound and overall creative direction. We've taken a turn for the better and found our true identity. It's not all fun and games anymore. We are all in this for the long haul.
"For this first video, we wanted straight-to-the-point live performance. We worked with director, Ron Thunderwood (9electric). He is unbelievably talented! He has the eye, and really great at capturing the raw emotion."
