Alunah Reveals New Album
Hailing from the English Midlands, stoner doom outfit Alunah is finally back in the studio and now unveils first details about a new album, which is set to see the light of day in early 2017 on Finland's cult label Svart Records.
The band is currently working in the Skyhammer Studios with Conan's Chris Fielding to record a fourth studio album, to be titled "Solennial." Vocalist & guitarist Sophie Day comments:
"Adrian Baxter is an artist that has been on our radar for a year or so. His work struck a chord with us as soon as we saw it, and we just had to work with him. He took my lyrics and created a masterpiece which encompasses every theme and subject matter from Solennial. It was completed quite a while ago, so we're happy it is finally seeing the light of day.
"This week, we will be heading up north to Skyhammer Studio to record the album with Chris Fielding; we always aim to try different things with our music, but we're stepping way outside of our comfort zone this time, in more ways than one. We are very proud of the songs and can't wait for them to be released." More...

Harri Kauppinen Streaming New Song
Harri Kauppinen is releasing his debut solo album ”Helvetin Laulut” through Concorde Music Company on CD, cassette and digital formats on September 30th, 2016.
Made in collaboration with producer/mixing engineer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, KYPCK), the album wanders on in a singer-songwriter-style, set in a melancholic and gloomy Finnish rock scener. Check out new song ”Päättyvän tien päässä" ("At the end of the ending road)” below. Harri comments:
”I wanted to make an album with the least possible amount of playing, and I wanted the mood to lead the way. For the songs this meant quite gloomy and partly even stagnant feel. Let this be my personal protest for the common music trend.
”For the musicians participating in this album, I think playing these songs was an interesting alternative for what they usually play. Take for instance Rolf Pilve behind the drums. Before this session he was recording e.g. the latest Stratovarius album and the epic double album of the band Solution .45. The amount of notes played on those records is surely quite different from what is played on my album." More...

Houston Open Air Organizers Comment On Cancelation
Festival producer Danny Wimmer Presents was reluctantly forced to cancel the second day of the Houston Open Air festival at NRG Park in Houston this Sunday, September 25 due to dangerous storm systems in the area.
An announcement will be made on the Houston Open Air website and social media this Wednesday, September 28 regarding refunds for those who purchased September 25 tickets. Danny Wimmer issued this statement:
“The last thing we want to do is cancel a show, but we will not risk people getting hurt. It takes nearly an hour to safely evacuate a site—including consumers, staff, vendors, and artists--so they can get to safety before a major storm hits. So we have to make the evacuation decision more than an hour in advance, even if there is still a chance the storm might not hit.”
He continues, “I read all the comments on our social media, and I understand the frustrations that some people felt, but our job is to protect everyone. I don’t make the decision lightly, but I would make the same decision again. We were seeing signs of storm cells expected to be heavy until 7:00 PM, followed by another storm from the Gulf. We drill for these situations. When the decision was made to evacuate, everyone executed perfectly. More...

The Kennedy Veil Recruits New Vocalist
Sacramento, CA's The Kennedy Veil just welcomed a brand new vocalist to the band's ranks. Monte Barnard, best known for his time spent as the high energy frontman for tech-death shredders Alterbeast, as well as his live stints with Aussie deathcore titans Thy Art Is Murder, will take the reigns as the new frontman for The Kennedy Veil moving forward.
Monte had the following to say about joining TKV: "I could not be more excited to be working with The Kennedy Veil. I've known these guys for years and played with all of their respective projects prior to TKV. As a whole they make up one of the hardest working, most driven bands in the industry, never compromising.
"I have been somewhat of a hired gun for different projects over the last few years so when they approached me to be the new permanent vocalist I instantly agreed. The chance to put my creative stamp on such strong material with my close friends would be moronic to pass up. We've matured as musicians from different backgrounds and influences that mixed together are creating a truly memorable album. I can't wait to show the world what we've been crafting and to hit the road in 2017. Hails!"
The Kennedy Veil had the following to say about having Monte join the band, as well as the amicable parting with former vocalist, Taylor Wientjes: "We know people have been asking, so to clear things up and squash any potential rumors, we parted ways with Taylor earlier this summer due solely to creative differences. There is no bad blood and we are all still friends. Taylor is the permanent vocalist for Inanimate Existence, and we are great friends with all of them as well and wish them and Taylor all the best.
