Serpent Crown Streams "Incantations Of Vengeance"
"Incantations Of Vengeance" is the forthcoming new full-length album from Oakland's sludge thrashers Serpent Crown.
Set for self-release this Friday on limited-edition cassette, the record's six punishing tracks were captured at Green Dot Studios by Snake Green and feature Tommy Anderson on bass and Rob Ruiz (Psychosomatic) on drums. The band has since recruited Chris "Woz" Wozniak from Lair Of The Minotaur as full-time drummer.
In advance of its release, today the record comes online in full. Issues guitarist/vocalist Dara Santhai: "'Incantations Of Vengeance' takes you on a passage into the frailty and elemental depravity of the humanity condition, sorcery, and journeys beyond the realm of death... Offering a dynamic array of songs that volley between dark, doom laden material, and vigorous thrash, with the occasional homage to traditional heavy metal, Incantations Of Vengeance creates a diverse musical landscape."
In conjunction with the release of the record, Serpent Crown will bring these odes of enmity to the stage on a mini Northwest live takeover, with additional performances to be announced in the weeks to come.

Devilment Reveals New Album
Devilment - led by vehement frontman Dani Filth - is incredibly pleased to announce "Devilment II: The Mephisto Waltzes" be released by Nuclear Blast Entertainment on the 18th of November, 2016.
Dani had this to say on the subject of the new record: “Everybody in Devilment is very excited about the prospect of releasing our latest album, ‘II – The Mephisto Waltzes’, which we have worked extremely hard on. The album is definitely a step-up from our debut, featuring a more mature, dissonant presence coupled with a darker edge, yet at the same time utilising our better musical assets to deliver a unique metal hybrid. I don't even know what to classify it!”
Assisted by long-time collaborators Lauren Francis (keys and vocals), Colin Parks (guitar), Nick Johnson (bass) and new drummer Matt Alston, Dani has arrived at the telling moment where Devilment becomes a genuine force to be reckoned with.
Regarding the album’s artwork, Dani revealed: “Winner of many international awards, the artist for the new Devilment album is Elena Vizerskayaaka Kassandra, whose photography and photo-manipulation perfectly complements the mysterious and magickal world of Devilment. Elena's work is sometimes compared to Dali and Magritte due to the complexity of artistic figures and the perceptible amount of layers, something to be felt and not necessarily understood, exotic dreams filled with reflections and allusion.
"I have been a fan of Elena's work for a long while now and had originally wanted to utilize it for the Cradle Of Filth album, 'The Manticore And Other Horrors' as far back as 2011, which only fell through when band politics intervened and an in-house label artist was used instead. More...
Psychostick Asks: Are Boobs Advertiser Friendly?
For those not in the loop on the YouTube situation, the site has started banning certain videos from being monetized with ads for not being "advertiser friendly" over a variety of reasons, from violence to near-nudity.
While debate rages on as to how this "non-advertiser friendly" tag seems to be disproportionately applied only to smaller YouTube channels and not to the biggest ones, our favorite comedy metal group Psychostick ran afoul of the practice with the "Because Boobs" video. The band comments:
"Because Boobs isn't very advertiser friendly, so YouTube says it shouldn't be monetized. Advertisers never use boobs to sell things. Just ask Carl's JR. ...or Hardee's depending on your location. #MeatEmbrace This is a parody video, we're aware of YT's guidelines reguarding tags, etc and accept the decree of our internet overlords."

Katatonia Releases "Shifts" Video
Anders Nyström of Swedish gloom kings Katatonia just issued the following announcement about releasing a new video:
"Ahead of our upcoming European tour we are proud to reveal a new music video for ‘Shifts’, directed by Lasse Hoile. As the music for this song unfolded it took off in a different direction from usually what we do.
"Driven by its gentle, lush and shimmering rendition of melancholy it would take you for a waltz daydreaming of the past, longing for the happiest times of your life, only to find that when the dance is over, emptiness has filled another chamber of your heart. Both Jonas and Lasse enhanced these ideas into beautifully told lyrics and a simple, but very touching video."
The "Shifts" track is taken off latest full-length album "The Fall Of Hearts," which is still available for streaming in full here. More...
