Dio Hologram Premieres At Wacken

Over 75,000 fans were rocked at the Wacken Open Air music festival in Germany this weekend as the late Ronnie James Dio reunited with his bandmates via hologram.

The surprise performance took place at the end of Dio Disciples' set to close the world's largest annual live heavy metal event. Dio Disciples features members of the Dio band, which last performed with Ronnie in 2008 before he passed away two years later, leaving a void in the rock community.

Eyellusion, a hologram entertainment company focused on the live music market, created the hologram and produced the groundbreaking performance. The Wacken Open Air Festival marked the debut of the Ronnie James Dio hologram, which features the singer's actual live vocals and will be toured globally in 2017, with further details to be announced.

"When I first experienced the full production of Ronnie performing with his band as a hologram, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears," said Wendy Dio. "With Eyellusion, we have been able to get Ronnie back up on stage where he belongs, ensuring that his music and memory live on. I want Ronnie's fans around the world to share this experience."

"We know how much the fans miss Ronnie and the special and unequaled element that he brought to his live performances," said Craig Goldy, lead guitarist for Dio Disciples. "Being able to recreate that same kind of magic for his fans at Wacken was incredible. For so many years Ronnie always invested big in his live shows as his way to give back to the fans, and that is exactly what we aimed to do with this latest performance. We can't wait to bring this experience to even more of his fans and perhaps even a newer generation when we bring this incredible live experience on the road next year." More...

Oracle's "Selah" Seeing Re-Issue

Roxx Records is very excited to announce the third installment in the limited edition underground vinyl series will be from Oracle. The label comments:

"Our next release comes to us by way of one of the Christian metal underground’s most heralded, yet under rated, U.S. power metal releases of the 90’s from the band Oracle as we give our special reissue treatment to the band’s long out of print debut EP!

"At the time of its original release in 1992, Oracle's 'Selah' EP was critically acclaimed the world over. From the U.S. Christian metal underground, to the European heavy metal scene, 'Selah' was, and is, considered to be a triumph of U.S. power metal drawing influence from neo-classical metal, NWOBHM, and thrash metal.

"It was initially released as an independent cassette in 1992, then shortly after as an independent CD in 1993...both direct from the band and impossible to find these days. Since that time, it has been reissued twice on CD. Once as a split CD with US metal band Emerald on M8 Records (2001) and again in remastered form as part of 'Desolate Kings: The Oracle Anthology' on Divebomb Records (2010) which is now out of print and nearly sold out. But never before has this underground US metal classic seen a vinyl release...until now! More...

Alan Robert Launches Pre-Orders For Coloring Book

Coloring books for grown-ups have exploded in the U.S. since 2015, selling millions of copies and crowding bookstores and bestseller lists with black and white line art.

The majority of the titles focus on nature and abstract patterns, so it was only a matter of time until a different type of coloring book came along that would cut through the sea of mandalas. Case in point - "The Beauty of Horror: A GOREgeous Coloring Book" by Life of Agony bassist/songwriter Alan Robert and published by award-winning IDW Publishing.

This unique, horror-themed coloring book for adults is filled with 80 pages of Robert's original, hand drawn, and nightmarish illustrations. It is already in the Top 5 on Amazon's Hot New Releases List and it doesn't even hit bookstores until October 4th. The Beauty of Horror is available for pre-order at a reduced price for a limited time at Amazon or over at Barnes & Noble.

"I think the main reason why people are so excited about 'The Beauty of Horror' coloring book is that it's something different for coloring fans. Nature and peaceful, abstract patterns don't appeal to everybody. There are a ton of coloring fans out there with darker, edgier tastes, and they're hungry to find an alternative to the norm. This book speaks to them," Robert explains. "It's art therapy for the abnormal." More...

Following a recent stream of "Across The Dying Plains," Usurpress today releases another track from impending album "The Regal Tribe."

Check out "Beneath the Starless Skies" below, and you can pick up "The Regal Tribe" on September 23rd via Agonia Records.

The album's haunting cover artwork was created by renowned Dutch artist Marald van Haasteren (Bolt Thrower, High on Fire, Baroness, Kylesa) who was given a carte blanche with rgeards to the visual interpretation of the album’s lyrical concept. "The Regal Tribe" was recorded under the supervision of rising star producer Lawrence Mackrory (FKÜ, Darkane).

Vocalist Stefan Pettersson comments: "Although we are very proud of all our previous works, we never look back. Dwelling on the past does not interest us at all. Rock Wolves Signs With Steamhammer/SPV

Rumors were flying thick and fast for a while, but now it's official: Steamhammer/SPV have signed the new all-star trio Rock Wolves for the world (except Japan). The name stands for Herman Rarebell, Michael Voss and Stephan "Gudze" Hinz, three of the most renowned German rock musicians of the past forty years. Their CVs feature eminent acts such as the Scorpions, MSG, H-Blockx, Casanova and Mad Max.

The first single "Rock For The Nations" is due out on September 9th, to be followed by the debut album on October 28th. Drummer Herman Rarebell describes his new band's material as "classic rock music, powerful but not too heavy." Check out the teaser below.

As the former Scorpions' drummer, Herman Rarebell was instrumental in recording classics such as Lovedrive, Blackout and Crazy World between 1977 and 1996, and looks back at a successful stint as the manager of his own recording company Monaco Records. At the moment he is a member of guitar legend Michael Schenker's current group Temple Of Rock, where Rarebell met Michael Voss, among others. Since the 1980s, Voss has caused a stir with acts such as Mad Max and Casanova, has worked with Michael Schenker and is also involved in Temple Of Rock as a vocalist, songwriter and producer. The third Rock Wolves member is Stephan "Gudze" Hinz, founder member and bassist of H-Blockx and hence a representative of the 1990s rock generation. So here we have three illustrious names, three decades, and three artistic careers with similar but by no means congruent influences. More...

Hevidence Signs With Frontiers Music Srl

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of Hevidence to a multi album deal.

Hevidence is the brainchild of Italian guitar player Diego Reali. Diego’s own story as a musician began in 1996 with his first band, DGM. Diego’s songwriting and style contributed to six of that band's power prog metal masterpieces: “Random Access Zone”, “Change Direction”, “Wings Of Time”, “DreamLand”, “Hidden Place”, and “Misplaced”. For ten plus years, Diego recorded and toured with DGM around the world. During this time he also collaborated with Claudio Simonetti, the former keyboard player and mastermind of Italian prog band Goblin, among others.

In 2006, Diego wanted to stretch his wings and try other musical styles, so he started to work on different projects, dabbling in many different kinds of music (blues, indie, country, pop, and rock). He spent a few months playing with his brother’s indie band, Happy Never After, playing several gigs around Italy; however, it is always difficult to forget where we come from and that is why after almost four years of musical experimentation and journeys, Diego decided to go back to his original musical influence and first love: classic heavy metal. He started writing many tunes akin to early DGM, but this time with a more conscious idea of his own style and with a musical background richer than ever. In 2010, he called his brother Stef Reali (Hijack Party) to play drums and Andrea Arcangeli (DGM, Noveria, Solisa) to play bass and started a new band called Evidence, with whom he released “There’s Only Ten Left” in 2011.
