Rock and roll is supposed to be dangerous, and 'Power Under Control' is far from safe.”

Verberis Announces New Album Release

Iron Bonehead Productions has set October 21st as the international release date for Verberis' debut album, "Vexamen."

In the spring of 2014, Iron Bonehead located this mysterious New Zealand entity and released first demo, "Vastitas." What started as an otherwise-quiet release from an unknown band soon became a conflagration of interest and acclaim.

But as much as the psychic terrain of that demo was vast and unknown, it is soundly trumped by Verberis' "Vexamen." Whereas the band's demo lurked among the lonely landscape where early bestial metal splintered into more deathly shapes - think Finland's Belial and Mythos - here on "Verberis" the band aims for a more singular and idiosyncratic expression. Verily, this is deaeth metal, ever blackened and always abyss-ward.

1. Thanatosia
2. The Primordial Rift
3. Vexamen
4. Protogonos
5. Charnel Vibrations
6. Flagellum de Igne
7. The Gaping Hollow of Divinity
8. Fangs of Pazuzu

Zlatanera Streaming Full New Album

Northern Irish stoner doom outfit Zlatanera today release debut record "Legerdemain," and to mark the occasion the band is streaming the album in full - listen in below. Guitarist Willie Caulfield reflects on the writing of the album:

"There was no plan or discussion regarding what direction we were going to go in musically with it. After years of playing in much heavier bands we just kind of subconsciously found ourselves 'going back to our roots' and writing music in the vein of the bands that had influenced us when we were younger. We are aware that we're not doing anything drastically original but our attitude was always - if you take a traditional sound and put enough of your own personal slant on it, write good songs and play with conviction, then originality doesn't really matter.

"We're not really trying to deliver any kind of message with the album. A couple of the songs deal with reasonably serious subjects (addiction, corruption within the church and people becoming detached from the real world and living their lives online) but there's also quite a lot of humour. Mainly in the three 'Devil' songs, which are the result of a lighthearted conversation about stereotypical subject matter in metal songs, during which one of us suggested that 'every metal band should have at least one song about the Devil'. Somehow we ended up with three!" More...

Philip Anselmo Filling In For Mike IX Williams

Philip H. Anselmo (Down, Superjoint, Scour, Pantera et al) will be filling in for EyeHateGod vocalist Mike IX Williams on two upcoming shows: the first at Southport Music Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 19th and the second at the 2016 edition of Gwar BQ in Richmond, Virginia on August 20th.

Comments Williams, "Due to some recent, very important health issues I am dealing with, I would like to announce that Philip H. Anselmo will be filling in for me at two special EyeHateGod gigs; New Orleans's Southport Music Hall and the seventh annual GwarBQ. Phil has my full blessings for these shows and with all forces willing, I will return to the stage as soon as I am physically able."

Adds Anselmo, "When our brothers in one of New Orleans' most influential music outfits needs me, I'm there, one-thousand percent. There is no secret that I adore my brethren in EyeHateGod, as I've always supported them through thick and thin. This present situation will be no different. In light of Michael D. Williams' health issues, which he needs to address more importantly than any other point in his life, and should be respected by anyone with a heart, I will do my best to fill in for him.

"Those are mighty big shoes to fill, but I shall do my best, once again. I do believe I speak on the behalf of all concerned parties when I state that we all need Mike IX Williams to heal, recover, and get better, as soon as possible. These gigs are not about me; it is about keeping the obligations of EyeHateGod, as a band and force, able to stay true to their commitments to these two gigs. My admiration of Mike and all of his works, especially EyeHateGod knows zero boundaries, hence, me doing these gigs. Here's to Mike's recovery, and here's to supporting these shows on his behalf. Much love to everyone." More...

Excellion Streaming Full EP

Mexican metal quartet Excellion is streaming the entirety of fourth EP "Unsean" ahead of its release on August 6th - listen in below.

Speaking about the level of creativity the new EP reaches compared with the previous efforts, bassist and backing vocalist Adrian Vilbel commented: “On ‘Unsean' you can find this maturity in the sound that is very unique actually, all instruments converge in a way that it just was’t in our previous releases, that’s why this new material it’s really a breakthrough for us.

“We were trying to express ourselves in the way we felt at the moment when we moved to Mexico City, it was a moment to adapt and learn a new way to live, so we felt the urgency to write some riffs and melodies that made people feel those expressions, that’s how the whole concept came to mind."

Originally planned to be a full-length release, Excellion decided to split it in two shorter releases. Vilbel comments: “Nowadays it’s kind of hard that a person listen to a full album from the beginning to the end. There would be a lot to digest and they just don’t want that, at least a lot of people, so yeah, ‘Unsean’ was actually a full-length, but we wanted people to give the same weight to every song and not just one or two. We wanted to write songs with high quality too and not just fillers so we decided to make this release in two parts. This is part one and you can expect part two some time around 2017. This way people can sit and listen the whole EP and it’ll be easy to digest too.”

1. Unsean Pt. I: In Search of Infinity
2. Unlucky Charms (feat. Fernando Obregón of Joliette)
3. The Courier
4. Diablo Jr. (feat. Jose Macario Tovar of Arcadia Libre)

Soilwork Posts "Death Resonance" Clip

Soilwork just released a third "Inside Death Resonance" video trailer in which singer Björn "Speed" Strid talks about the band's upcoming special collection of rarities, "Death Resonance," which is due out August 19th, 2016 via Nuclear Blast.

You can pre-order "Death Resonance" as CD digipak or clear vinyl at this location. The gloomy cover art was created by Mnemic guitarist Mircea Gabriel Eftemie (Volbeat, Carcass, Scar Symmtery, Strapping Young Lad).

Commented singer Björn "Speed" Strid: "The cover for 'Death Resonance' is made by Mircea Eftemie and in many ways he managed to capture what we went through while recording 'The Ride Majestic:' the sorrow, the close encounter with death, the aftermath and also the existential cogitation that came with it.

"It links those albums together, even though 'Death Resonance' contains unreleased material from 2005 and forward. The cover almost seems like a link between life and death and not only captures where the band is right now, but also where we've been and what lies ahead." More...

Secret Sphere Details "One Night In Tokyo" DVD

Italy's Secret Sphere will release the new DVD/Blue-Ray/Live CD "One Night In Tokyo" on October 14, 2016 via Frontiers Music srl.

Secret Sphere is a global force in the metal world, but Japan especially has always been a special place for the band since forming in 1997. In fact, it is the only country where you can find the very rare original debut demo tape, which was officially released as a special edition item since the demand for is so prevalent. That says a lot about the respect and affection that the fans in the land of the rising sun have for Aldo LoNobile’s band and the feeling is mutual. A trailer for the album can be viewed in the player below.

During the band’s last Japanese tour, in support of the Special Anniversary Edition of the band’s signature album "A Time Never Come," Secret Sphere had the chance to record the show in Tokyo in its entirety. The set included all the major hits like "Legend," "Under The Flag Of Mary Read," plus melodic metal gems taken from the latest album "Portrait Of A Dying Heart." Featuring vocalist extraordinaire Michele Luppi (who is now also the keyboard player for Whitesnake/David Coverdale), the show was one for the ages.

The result is a stellar performance in a very welcoming atmosphere, a night to remember, where the band played classic songs with true passion and energy to a wildly receptive audience. The same passion and energy that you can expect from the band's next studio release, which is currently in the writing stages.

Aldo Lonobile says: “Since I started the band, the idea of recording our first live album in Japan was the ultimate goal! All my musical heroes described their experiences in Japan with a happiness and a warmth that you could almost feel. That was the truth, among the most loyal fans in the world, and I am 100% happy that Frontiers liked the idea to release our first live album!” More...
