Esben And The Witch Streaming "Sylvan"

Post rock trio Esben And The Witch today reveals details and the first track from forthcoming album "Older Terrors." This will be the band's first album with Season of Mist, released worldwide on November 4th, 2016. Check out the song "Sylvan" below. Esben And The Witch comments:

"This song is about a fire raging through an ancient forest. About primal forces, wild and uncontrollable loosed upon the land and how we try to might find meaning and even beauty in a burning world."

The band continues on about the new album: "'Older Terrors' was written over the course of a year in our adopted home of Berlin. It began life in a basement, just Rachel and a bass guitar and sprawled out from there. We spent last winter fleshing these songs out in our rehearsal space up in an old tower block and in April we finally recorded them at a studio in the centre of the city.

"In this digital age we wanted to create an album that contained four tracks that would work as a whole but that could also be separated and stand alone. Each one carving its own path. This record is dedicated to the sublime. To Edward Young's Night Thoughts, John Martin's apocalyptic visons, Caspar David Friedrich's forays into the forest and to the sparks of light that glimmer in times of utter darkness."

Mentor Releasing "Guts, Graves, And Blasphemy"

Mentor - featuring members of Thaw and J.D. Overdrive - will release "Guts, Graves and Blasphemy" on September 15th, 2016. Arachnophobia Records comments:

"The name might be new, but the individuals behind it are no strangers. Three out of four members have recently been beating the hell out of Europe's stages with the dissonant black metal sensation Thaw. Now joined by singer Wojtek Kaluza (J.D. Overdrive), the pack provide another unholy challenge for the audience who miss the fuckin' animal in metal and grew fed up with its artsy incarnations.

"In times when the majority tend to categorize music by coming up with the most bizarre tags and shoving it all the way through pigeon holes, Mentor's blasphemous and straightforward emanation of heavy music's essential traits appears like a spit in the face. Enforcing the idea of a sonic porn for those who like it fast and heavy, 'Guts, Graves and Blasphemy,' Mentor's debut full-length offering is a highly explosive cauldron merging the elements of black/thrash metal, hardcore punk and plain rock'n'roll."

Meshuggah Posts New Song Online

A new Meshuggah song titled "Born In Dissonance" has come online today, taken off the band's eighth album "The Violent Sleep Of Reason," which is due out October 7th via Nuclear Blast.

Tomas Haake comments: "Basically, the whole idea of why we chose the title is it kinda connects with the lyrical content of the album. Which is to a fair degree about current events and what you see is going on as far as terrorism today, extremist views on ideals, and religious dogma and the violent implications that you get from being asleep so to speak and not acting/reacting to what is going on in the proper way"

The album was produced by Meshuggah and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark. For the cover, the band once again enlisted Keerych Luminokaya, who created the artwork for "Koloss" and "The Ophidian Trek" as well as the new images for each of the 7 albums and 3 EP's featured in the 25 Years of Musical Deviance box set.

Exciter Comments On Reuniting Original Lineup

Canadian thrash group Exciter will be taking the stage at this year's Calgary Metalfest on September 17th. This performance is one for the history books as Exciter will be reuniting the band's original line up for the first time since 1985, plus sharing the stage with fellow Canadian thrash pioneers Annihilator, Razor, and Sacrifice.

All have never before performed on the same stage together, making the concert a historic moment in metal. Exciter guitarist John Ricci comments:

"We are really stoked to participate at the fest with such great bands that came out of Canada and went on to establish themselves as serious contenders in the metal market around the globe. Asphyx Issues Music Video For "Incoming Death"

Death is coming nearer with the release of the long awaited new studio album by Dutch Doom Death Metal division Asphyx on September 30th, 2016 worldwide via Century Media Records.

Consequently, it's about time to launch the first song off "Incoming Death"! Check out
the relentless title track in the player below. The video enhancing the song was edited by Carl Assault and features live-footage from the band's performance at Brutal Assault Open Air 2015.

Asphyx vocalist Martin van Drunen checked in to comment on the song as follows:
"Incoming Death was music-wise composed in perhaps 10 minutes when Husky and Paul were checking the sound in the Perle am Rhein studio for the flexi recordings. When we all freaked out on it, we knew we had the title track for the album. It's so typical our ASPHYX death metal style. Straight forward, no nonsense, three riff, in-your-face death metal. Not that we were looking for a title track that would be in the tradition of 'Death The Brutal Way' or 'Deathhammer'. It just came out like this. It's a damn neck breaker to raise hell to when playing live and that's why the choice for the track was only natural. Stanza, chorus, repeat, bridge, stanza, chorus, end. That's how it's done. On Instinct. Lyricwise three times death and gore by plague, aliens and zombies. And some metal beasts are even shorter than two minutes! So grab a beer, bang that head and scream along. This is fuckin' Asphyx and we always deliver the goods!"

The track listing reads as follows:

1. Candiru
2. Division Brandenburg
3. Wardroid
4. The Feeder
5. It Came From The Skies
6. The Grand Denial
7. Incoming Death
8. Forerunners Of The Apocalypse
