Pit Stories: Finishing A Bottle Before The Show
Ready for another Tuesday Pit Story metal fans?
In recent weeks we've covered wheelchair pits and Babymetal walls of death, an in-depth look at learning the touring ropes for new bands, and even a full cornucopia of bizarre show stories.
Today we have Italian power/prog icons DGM on board for a new tale involving the musicians having a little bit too much fun before the show, but trying their drunk damnedest to put on a killer gig anyway.
The story comes from a live appearance five years back while the band was on tour with Symphony X. DGM tells the tale like this:
It was the last gig of Symphony X's 2011 tour for "Iconoclast." We supported Symphony X throughout their whole European tour in 2011 across all Europe and of course lots of funny moments come back to my mind. We were in London at the O2 in the dressing rooms area and all the crew and band from Symphony X arrived to gives us some presents... from what I can remember it was a bottle of Jack Daniel's (or two...?).
Since you cannot bring them on a plane and we were supposed to be in Italy the day after, we had this brilliant idea of finishing them right in that moment. I know this sounds like the typical Motley Crue-style, but I can assure you that it's not that easy if you play this fast progressive intricate stuff for an hour!!!!
Somehow we managed to finished the show and we continued with beers and whatever during the whole SyX set... during their last song we invaded the stage and each one of us “stalked” their “alter-ego”... I went to Romeo's side, Fabio went to Jason's Drums and so on... you know we were and we still are major fan of the band and I remember that they let us play their instruments for a short time during the song, and I can recall clearly that I personally fucked up every note of that passage of music, and all the other guys in the band did pretty much the same... ahahahah. This was so embarrassing in front of the audience and in front of the SyX guy, but in the end a funny memory!
Frontiers Music Srl will release the brand new album from Italian prog metal masters DGM, entitled "The Passage," on August 26th. Check out the songs "Ghost Of Insanity" and "Fallen" below. More...
Equilibrium Posts "Armageddon" Trailer
The brand new masterpiece from German epic metal pioneers Equilibrium, titled "Armageddon," was released last Friday via Nuclear Blast.
Guitarist, composer and lyricist René Berthiaume spent almost two years working on this new opus. The result is rather dark, while retaining the bombast and folk elements of the previous records.
Today, the band has released a new album trailer via YouTube. Check it out below. A full music video for "Eternal Destination" can also be seen at this location.

"To all of our dear friends, unfortunately were just robbed in St Louis Missouri. We were in a restaurant for 40 minutes and all of our belongings and money were stolen out of our van in a well lit parking lot.
"Priceless items were taken including laptops, passports, laminates and personal effects. Worst of all, five thousand dollars that we made on this tour is gone. We have to go to Europe in 3 weeks and need as much help as we can get.
"We undoubtedly worked our selves to the bone on one of the best tours we've ever done, only to have it swept out from under us. Any single thing you can contribute helps us. All of our cash from the tour is completely gone. We're working our way home out of our own pocket. Thank you in advance." More...

Deathcult Releasing "Beasts Of Faith"
On September 26th, Invictus Productions (in conspiracy with Iron Bonehead Productions) is proud to present the debut album of Switzerland's Deathcult, "Beasts of Faith."
On the heels of Invictus' reissue of the band's '12 demo, Deathcult strikes with an iron-fisted statement with this full-length release. Early on, the quartet's sound betrayed a wealth of classic influences - namely early Morbid Angel, Death, Possessed, Sepultura, and Necrovore - but the filth 'n' fury was certainly in place, and the band has now maximized that malevolent spirit with hook-laden songwriting and gut-churning crunch.

It is a reflection of my own personal story, told through a singular piece of art. Truthfully, this was a very difficult piece for me to complete at times, but, in the end, it has also been a very healing experience. Dopesick Posts New Video
Oakland, CA's Dopesick - featuring former members of Skinlab and Ministry - made a grand re-entrance last month with the release of summer-jam reggae/hard rock hybrid track "Ride The Night."
The band is today wasting no time introducing the next track off upcoming full-length album, "The Love and Terror Cult," set to hit retailers this winter 2016. Dopesick's new track "Hayes N Webster" showcases a totally different side of the band.
The track, which is mixed and mastered by Alex Crescioni, is completely instrumental featuring a hypnotizing riff and searing leads. The video is also an overall contrast to "Ride The Night" - inspired by slasher films, serial killers and all things horror - with a freaky fetish twist. This video is not for the faint of heart. Monte Pittman Reveals New Album Details
With his fourth full-length album "Inverted Grasp Of Balance," Monte Pittman has once again raised the stakes, delivering a riveting collection of full force metal that showcases his continuing evolution.
For a first preview of "Inverted Grasp Of Balance" (due out September 23rd worldwide), check out new track "Pride Comes Before the Fall" below. Metal Blade Records comments:
"To assert that Pittman has had a storied career is something of an understatement. His resume includes an ongoing and fruitful collaboration with multi-platinum selling artist Madonna, having recorded and toured with her extensively over a period of more than fifteen years. Then there's his first band, Myra Mains, his stint in the metallic behemoth that is Prong, and collaborations with a broad spectrum of international artists.
"If his time with Prong did not fully communicate just how much metal flowed through his veins, with 2014's Flemming Rasmussen-produced The Power Of Three - his first release with Metal Blade Records - he compellingly blended killer riffs, blistering leads and gigantic hooks to deliver an album that was equal parts anthemic grandeur and in-your-face attitude, making metalheads around the world sit up and take note.
"Now, for his latest offering, 'Inverted Grasp Of Balance,' Pittman teamed up with powerhouse drummer Richard Christy of Charred Walls Of The Damned/Iced Earth/Death fame and virtuoso bassist Billy Sheehan, famous for his work with a plethora of talented artists - including David Lee Roth, Mr. Big and, more recently, Winery Dogs - the skill of all concerned explodes from the speakers.
"With such passionate professionals and Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther) handling production duties, the record came together quickly and smoothly. This really is the proverbial 'whole package:' an album that has been lovingly crafted in all aspects, that Pittman hopes reaches as many ears as possible." More...

Tombs Signs With Metal Blade
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Brooklyn-based experimental metal outfit Tombs. The label comments:
"Blending bleak, post-punk minimalism with the ferocious attack of sludge and traditional black metal, Tombs has established themselves as an act that's as committed to consistency as it is to growth, developing smoothly (but never predictably) over the course of their career, and earning a multitude of accolades along the way, including Album Of The Year from Decibel Magazine for 2011's 'Path Of Totality.'
"In addition to their acclaimed releases, Tombs has also become revered for their captivating live shows, touring extensively with an array of artists such as Eyehategod, Pelican, Isis, Wolves In The Throne Room, The Secret, Ulcerate, and 1349, plus appearing at such renowned festivals as Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Roadburn in The Netherlands, and Psycho California and Maryland Deathfest in the US. Now, having joined Metal Blade's roster, the quintet is poised to continue the momentum that's been building since their formation in 2007."
Mike Hill (guitar/vocals) comments: "Metal Blade is a legendary label that has put out legendary records by legendary bands. It's an honor to be part of the organization."
Tombs will begin writing a fourth full-length and Metal Blade Records debut following a U.S. headlining tour this Fall. Kicking off November 7th, the trek also features Wolvhammer as support. See below for all upcoming dates. More...
