Cross Vault Announces "Miles To Take"
Iron Bonehead Productions has set November 18th as the international release date for Cross Vault's "Miles to Take," a special EP to be released on both CD and 12" vinyl formats.
Just last year, this German entity released "The All-Consuming" with the founding duo of N. (vocals, drums) and M. (guitar, bass) adding drummer B. as a permanent member, and joined by session members G. and F. on guitar and bass.
Now, Cross Vault is officially a quintet, with no more members relegated to "session" status, and "Miles to Take" is the first fruit of this union.
Comprising two new 'n' exclusive tracks, "Miles to Take" is an epic, 15-minute journey through the soul's most desolate, cobwebbed corners.

Art Of Dying Streams "Torn Down"
Art Of Dying will soon have brand new music in tow on the band's upcoming 40+ date U.S. headlining tour. The "Nevermore" CD will be available at these shows and officially drops Sept 2 on iTunes, Spotify, and digital/streaming outlets everywhere.
Check out new song "Torn Down" below. Vocalist Jonny Hetherington comments: "'Torn Down' is about believing in yourself, plain and simple. Sometimes it's hard to dig deep and find your pilot light in the darkness, but it's there.
"I came across Amanda and Jonah's (Amanda Todd and Jonah Mowrey) stories on YouTube and they really affected me. In a way, they both inspired this song. Unfortunately we lost Amanda. I hope 'Torn Down' can be a beacon to those who find themselves at the end of their rope.” More...
Ars Moriendi Announces "Sepelitur Alleluia"
Ars Moriendi will release "Sepelitur Alleluia" via Archaic Sound on October 15th, 2016. Archaic Sound comments:
"In the Middle Ages until the early 17th century, the eve of Septuagesima (70 days preceding Easter for Christians), church choirboys symbolically buried the 'Alleluia' during a funeral ceremony, for the reason that this song represents joy in the Christian cult. This practice symbolized the start of a dark period of meditation and retreat, leaving no room for joy and happiness.
"But despite this deep historical concept behind the album title of Ars Moriendi's new album, you will find a joy: listening to this album. As always, every new album of Arsonist (man behind this French band) is full of musical and aesthetic discoveries. He feels no fear to add jazz, trip-hop, or old-school heavy metal riffs to his very own kind of atmospheric black metal, and without a doubt, 'Sepelitur Alleluia' is his best work to date." More...
Gargoyle Releasing "Reborn In Blasphemy"
Shadow Kingdom Records has set October 31st as the international release date for Gargoyle's debut EP, "Reborn in Blasphemy," on cassette tape.
Self-released earlier this year in very limited quantities, "Reborn in Blasphemy" introduced these ghoulish Italian doomlords to the international underground, but not widely enough, in Shadow Kingdom's opinion!
Despite the EP's title cribbed from an old Dismember song, "Reborn in Blasphemy" is definitely NOT death metal; rather, it is mildewed and catacombed DOOM in the grand Italian tradition, sounding as old as time itself.

Tourniquet Comments On Vocalist Situation
Last year Tourniquet parted ways with the band's vocalist and since then there's been no solid announcement on a replacement. The band has now issued an update to fans with this statement:
"Hey everyone, I know most of you are wondering who the singer will be for the new Tourniquet album. Here's the best I have for you right now: The choice has been narrowed down to a very short list, all of whom are great vocalists. There will be awesome 'singing' on the album, but 100% for sure - as there is on almost all Tourniquet albums - there will also be 'screaming,' 'thrash vocals,' or whatever you want to call it.
"For me, some music just calls for a very aggressive delivery that only works with that style. I've said this before, but just because you stand up and yell into a mic doesn't mean you're any good at it (like if I would try to do it) much less that it sounds cool on an album. That being said, the singer and the screamer will likely be two different people, as you see in countless bands who effectively employ both types of vocals. More...

Steelwing Calling It Quits
Swedish heavy metal group Steelwing is planning to disband following a trio of final shows in Spetember / October. The band comments:
"Since the rumors are already out there you should hear it directly from us: after 8 years together in the trenches, the three shows we’re playing in Germany this fall will be the last time we play together as Steelwing.
"With our third and last album we accomplished what we set out to do: we reset, rebooted and redeemed the Steelwing legacy. But we will not allow ourselves to rot with the ghosts of the past; we will continue to move forward and strive to reach our full potential as human beings.
"From this page we will keep you posted on the future enterprises of the five restless souls that have made up the Steelwing outfit over the past years. Make sure to come by and wreak havoc together with us one last time! Marauders, we thank you for your dedicated service!"

Crowbar Reveals New Album
The New Orleans sludge masters from Crowbar have announced their eleventh LP titled "The Serpent Only Lies," due out October 28th, 2016.
"We are so excited about our 11th studio record! 'The Serpent Only Lies' is a powerful follow-up." says frontman and riff lord Kirk Windstein. "Eliran Kantor did a brilliant job with the artwork! Our first release, 'Falling While Rising,' is Crowbar at its finest... HEAVIER THAN EVER!!!"
Windstein further comments: “To me, it’s a fresh-sounding version of old-school Crowbar. I intentionally went back and listened to a lot of old Crowbar stuff, like the self-titled and 'Broken Glass' albums, to get a feel for what my mindset was 20-plus years ago. I also went back and listened to the bands that influenced Crowbar in the beginning, like Trouble, Saint Vitus, Melvins, and the first Type O Negative record. So it was kinda me doing my homework.
“Even lyrically, the approach was a little more old-school,” Windstein offers. “Some of the songs have less lyrics to let the riffs breathe a little more, which I had kind of gotten away from over the years. It was a conscious thing to go back to that.” More...

Aggression Re-Releasing "The Full Treatment"
Canadian thrash group Aggression will see cult debut 1987 album "The Full Treatment" re-issued with original artwork for the very first time through Xtreem Music. The label comments:
"Emerged in 1985 together with other legendary Canadian thrash metal acts like Sacrifice, Infernal Majesty, Razor, Armoros, Soothsayer, DBC, etc. Aggression made waves with three demos during '85/'86 and the inclusion of some of these songs in New Renaissance Rec. compilations like 'Thrash Metal Attack' and \Speed Metal Hell II,' until debut full-length 'The Full Treatment' was released on Banzai Records in '87.
"However, the band didn't last too long after that and their popularity couldn't reach higher levels, but this album remains as a true gem for any lover of intense yet catchy thrash metal in the vein of bands like Morbid Saint, Dark Angel, Armoros... who will definitely love this classic!!"
This new edition of "The Full Treatment" will drop October 1st in CD and vinyl. Check out a track below. More...

Desert Premieres "Son Of A Star" Music Video
Israeli dark/epic metallers Desert has teamed with Metal Underground.com for the release of new music video “Son Of A Star.”
"Son Of A Star" is the second clip released in support of the latest album “Never Regret,” which was released in 2015 via Raven Music and Irond Records.
This video was filmed and produced by Vadim Mechona, who's known by his previous works with Desert's “Never Regret” and also Orphaned Land’s “Let The Truce Be Known” videos. The shooting process took place at the Ha-Makhtesh Ha-Katan location, a geological erosional landform of Israel's Negev desert, during the extreme meteorological conditions, 43C/109F heat.
The story of the video and song is based on the Shimon Bar Kochva’s rebellion against Roman Empire in 132-135 CE at the ancient Judea area and describes it’s tragic fall in the striving for freedom of the Jewish state.
The fighters of historical fencing club “The Knights Of Jerusalem” have took an active part in the shooting process of the video clip. All the costumes used were based on historical records and carefully crafted for accuracy. Part of the funds for the video shooting were raised via an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, so fans are involved in the process as well.
Desert will tour Eastern Europe co-headlining with Cyprus' power metal acr Winter's Verge during October/November. Further details find on Desert's official website or on Facebook.

The Reticent To Release Conceptual Album
Grammy nominated Christopher Hathcock has returned with the fourth album from The Reticent. Heaven & Hell Records is pleased to announce the October 5th release of "On The Eve Of A Goodbye." The album was produced by Jamie King (BTBAM, The Wretched, Scale The Summit), and will be released on limited edition CD with complete lyrics.
Check out the official video for album track "The Girl Broken" at this location, as well as "The Comprehension" video in the player below.
This is undoubtedly the most ambitious and intense offering from The Reticent to date. An uncompromising autobiographical concept record, "On the Eve Of A Goodbye" is certain to exceed all expectations, boasting 73 minutes of stirring progressive metal that must be heard in its entirety to grasp the full magnitude.
"On The Eve Of A Goodbye" is an autobiographical concept album. All of the tracks serve to detail the day before, day of, and day after the suicide of The Reticent's mastermind Chris Hathcock's childhood friend, Eve. The songs chronicle his concern for her, her deterioration into self-hatred, and culminates with the tragic act and its aftermath. Not only a stylistic contrast to previous releases, this album is also intensely more personal than past Reticent albums (which were already emotional purges). The album is intended to be heard as a single entity rather than a collection of tracks. More...

Controlled Bleeding Streams Full New Album
The longstanding and prolific experimentalist project Controlled Bleeding returns with a first proper studio album since 2002, entitled "Larva Lumps and Baby Bumps." The full album has come online and can be heard below.
Guitarist and band co-founder Paul Lemos comments: "'Larva Lumps' has been a long time coming. In fact, I have sat on most of this music for some three or four years until I was finally able to release the album as I wanted it to be seen and heard, thanks to Storming the Base and Artoffact Records.
"Enhanced by Greg Jacobsen's singularly twisted cover paintings, 'Larva Lumps' captures the same visceral intensity and excitement that first inspired me to move forward with Knees and Bones, back in the early '80s. It also offers the first results of what I hope will be a long and fruitful relationship with new collaborators, Chvad 'Meatleg' Bernhard and Mike Bazini, as well as original drummer and long time friend, Tony Meola."
