Slain Coming To Consoles

After releasing on PC through Steam back in May, the heavy metal themed game "Slain" is now slated to land on consoles.

"Slain: Back from Hell" is coming to PlayStation 4 on September 13th and Xbox One on October 5th.

In the game you control the fate of Bathoryn, a doomed hero in a Gothic world, who seeks to liberate six cursed realms from six deadly overlords. He must battle his way through this blighted land, packed with gruesome pixel art foes before ascending into a stronghold, all the while defeating fiendish traps and vile monsters alike.

At the heart of every domain Bathoryn will confront a mighty foe - defeat it and his quest continues to its ultimate destiny. Fail, and you’ll die gruesomely – mauled by werewolves, disintegrated by floating monstrosities, squashed by great weights or torn apart by hidden blades. And you will fail…

"Slain" is accompanied by heavy metal visuals and features an even heavier metal soundtrack recorded by Curt Victor Bryant (formally of Celtic Frost). More...

Deny The Cross Posts "Bacteria Tribute"

"Alpha Ghoul" is the debut full-length from powerviolence alliance Deny The Cross, captured by Greg Wilkinson (Pallbearer, Vastum) at Earhammer Studios with drums recorded by Chris Pierce (Rorschach, Night Birds). Cover artwork was handled by Mark McCoy of Charles Bronson.

In celebration of its release, today Deny The Cross thrusts forth an official lyric video for "Bacteria Tribute." The fifty-eight-second bruiser is an ode to iconic graphic artist Pushead (Metallica, Misfits, The Exploited, Prong, Septic Death, Integrity et al).

Issues vocalist Carlos Ramirez: "Growing up in the '80s, obsessed with metal and hardcore, and also skateboarding, Pushead's artwork was unavoidable. There was something about his style that moved me from the moment I first came across it. I had the chance to meet Pushead in 1989 at an exhibit of his work at a place called Psychedelic Solution in New York City and he was really humble. You can see Pushead's influence today in the work of artists like John Dyer Baizley and Florian Bertmer." More...

Fair Warning Releasing "Pimp Your Past"

"Pimp Your Past" features 2016 versions of the most important tracks from Fair Warning's first three studio albums "Fair Warning," "Rainmaker" and "Go!," originally released between 1992 and 1997.

Every single note sees Fair Warning underline the motto the band has chosen: a good song will always remain a good song. At the same time, it's an integral part of the "Pimp Your Past" concept that the arrangements of some of the new versions differ significantly from the originals.

As bassist Ule Ritgen puts it: "When our Japanese record company approached us with the request for this kind of album, we were skeptical to start with. But once we had made up our minds to not simply rerecord the material but furnish it with a few fresh arrangements, the project gained momentum and we were gripped by a kind of eagerness to explore the possibilities. Especially since the new recording are very energetic and sound excitingly different in parts while their essence has remained the same. You can tell that the originals have a lot of substance and that their quality is extremely robust."

The "Pimp Your Past" album will be release worldwide (ex-Japan) on October 28th, 2016 as CD through Steamhammer/SPV.
