Ruinous Announces "Graves Of Ceaseless Death"

What can you really expect when you get together former or current members of Goreaphobia, Incantation, Funebrarum, and Disma except for death metal of the utmost quality?

Formed right after Alex Bouks (guitar), Matt Medeiros (guitar & vocals) and Shawn Eldridge (drums) all stepped out of their duties with Funebrarum to form their own band, Ruinous perfectly embodies everything those guys have been up until now while forging a sound on its own.

Powered by a supra-guttural growl and a very ripping approach, "Graves of Ceaseless Death" also draws inspiration from grindcore, thrash and even doom. The album will drop November 11th, 2016 via Dark Descent Records. More...

Edensong Streaming "The Atman Apocalypse"

As "Years In The Garden Of Years," the second full-length from NYC-based progressive ensemble Edensong, nears release through Laser's Edge at the end of the month, a new single from the record has been issued.

Check out "The Atman Apocalypse" below, which features a brief guest appearance by Adrian Belew (King Crimson, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Talking Heads, etc.)

Considered by the members of Edensong to be "the craziest thing they've ever written," the mammoth track consumes over ten minutes, delivering some of the most bombastic elements of the entire album.

The band offers, "'The Atman Apocalypse' is a cornerstone track on 'Years In The Garden Of Years' and the climax of the song-cycle that makes up most of the album. It takes so many of the musical themes from across the record and fuses them into the most brutal and 'proggy' thing we've probably ever written.

"It's actually based on a string quartet that Tony (our drummer) wrote a few years back, which Edensong then spun out into an epic rock tune. It's even got a cameo from Adrian Belew, by way of a chance encounter. We always jokingly imagined Adrian's voice in this particular moment of the song, so it's pretty awesome (and hilarious) that it's actually there. Listen carefully or you'll miss it." More...

David Phillips Releases New Drum Book

David Phillips is proud to launch his latest book, "From The Riser: A Drummer’s Perspective II," a photographic celebration of drummers and percussionists. The book features two hundred and seventy previously unseen photographs taken exclusively by the author.

It includes over one hundred and thirty legendary drummers including Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Jay Weinberg (Slipknot), Travis Barker (Blink-182), Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Dan Flint (You Me at Six), Moose (Bullet For My Valentine), Cyrus Bolooki (New Found Glory), Mike Mangini (Dream Theater), Chris CC Coma (Black Veil Brides), Brad Wilk (Rage Against The Machine), Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy), Brooks Wackerman (Avenged Sevenfold), Chris Slade (ACDC), Jon Theodore (QOSA), Mikkey Dee (Motörhead), Ray Luzier (Korn), Scott Travis (Judas Priest), Brent Fitz (Slash) and more.

Included alongside the many striking images is a record of Phillips’ cherished collection of backstage passes, set lists and other memorabilia. You can grab your own copy at this location.

Rush’s Neil Peart, who penned the foreword for the book, says "not many photographers have captured that performance art as well as David …. One accomplishment is simply collecting photographs .... but the greater gift is delivering such iconic images."

John Fred Young (Black Stone Cherry) sums it up by saying "what Dave does …. he gets in there and he goes where only brave men go … in the fury of techs running crazy on stage, drum sticks flying everywhere……. It’s a dangerous world up there on stage!" More...

Since 2007, the doom/sludge noisemakers from Ortega have been exploring the murky depths of humanity's longing for the horizon. FlaktiiN Releasing Cassette Tape

On November 11th, War Arts Productions is proud to present the debut demo of FlaktiiN, "Souls For The Legions," on cassette tape.

Hailing from the black metal hotbed of Portugal, FlaktiiN is a unique entity among the band's unapologetically raw and more mystically oriented countrymen, instead offering a hideously muscular sound that's warring and rife with conflict.

In many ways, it's a sound that's more blackened death metal rather than black metal proper, but similarly offers a wealth of atmosphere despite its cosmic crush and oft-overwhelming grind.

2. To Annihilate to Extinction

Halshug Posts "Vold"

With Copenhagen-based Halshug's new "Sort Sind" full-length album now two weeks from release through Southern Lord, a gritty new track from the album has come online.

The overall theme of "Sort Sind" is inspired by the members' experiences growing up in the 1990s and 2000s in neglected parts of Denmark, hoping to in some way contribute to the scene and invoke some energy in those who hear it. Fitting into this storyline is the track "Vold," which translates to violence, and according to the members of Halshug, "is about psychic terror."

Southern Lord will issue "Sort Sind" on CD, LP, and digital platforms this coming September 30th. Catch the band live on these upcoming dates:

We’re also extremely delighted to reveal the artwork for our forthcoming album, From One Form, which is set to see a release early in 2017. The artwork was designed by Eoin and I feel it really compliments the atmosphere of the album’s music and lyrics."

Meet Joe in this newest webisode available below, where he speaks about his first meeting with In Flames and gives a little guided tour through the studio where upcoming album "Battles" was recorded. The band also comments:

"As you know — our longtime drummer, friend, and brother that is the almighty Daniel Svensson has left In Flamesto pursue other dreams. He is still with us in spirit when we write our music, in our lives, and someone whom we will cherish forever. We are truly grateful for the nearly 20 years that Daniel devoted to In Flames.

Our 12th studio album is the first we will release without Daniel since 1998, so entering the studio this time around was a bittersweet moment. At the time, we didn’t know who could even replace him, and making new music without him felt strange. We were missing a piece of In Flames." More...
