Freya Streams "Gnawing From Inside"
"Gnawing From Inside" is the alarming new single from Syracuse-based metal outfit Freya, taken from the band's impending fifth full-length album "Grim." As the album nears release at the end of the month, the band has issued the early single for public consumption below.
Offers Freya vocalist Karl Buechner (also of Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance, and more) on the morose concept of this new single:
"Essentially, the song is about a group of people trapped indoors isolated out in the wilderness in the dead of a brutal Winter after they deplete their stocks of firewood and food they start to hallucinate and slowly turn on each other. Cannibalism seems like the only choice to survive.
"When Flynn and I started to look into the background of the original Hansel and Gretel folk tale, one of earliest versions is even more horrifying then the one we're all familiar with. The father leaves the two out in the forest so that the parents won't themselves be tempted to kill and eat their own children over the course of a harsh Winter!" More...

Tesseract Releases "Hexes" Video

Directed by George Laycock (Blacktide Phonic/Visual) and conceptualized by vocalist Daniel Tompkins and bassist Amos Williams, this is the second music video the band has released from most recent LP, "Polaris" (reviewed here).
"'Hexes' represents a vivid dream and distant memory," says Tompkins. "One of holding onto the secrets between two people; a history shrouded in secrecy. To maintain the intimate and personal nature of the concept, we knew that we needed a video director that didn't simply understand the lyrics but someone who could connect to the intensity of the music, and was willing to work closely together in creating the right visuals.
"On first contact with Blacktide we knew that we had found the right team. The video was shot over four different locations scattered across the UK including Leicester’s National Space Centre, where we filmed some striking footage from inside a replica of the Columbus module from the International Space Station; shot in the early hours while the centre was closed to the public. Without a doubt 'Hexes' is the most cohesive and impactful video we have made to date and we're extremely proud of the end result." More...
