Glare Of The Sun Inks Deal With Lifeforce

Lifeforce Records has inked a record deal with Glare Of The Sun, with the label issuing this announcement today:

"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Austrian/German quintet Glare Of The Sun to the Lifeforce Records roster. Drown yourself into the deep sea of wide and heavenly guitars. Dreamy, shoe-gazy, epic.

"But wait for it – the massive hammer of doom will hit you soon enough. Unexpected, unprepared, merciless. Glare Of The Sun is beautiful and brutal at the same time. Promising and melancholic, tumbeling at the edge of senses, between falling and rising, light and dark, night and day. Always creating space, leaving it up to you which side you want to choose.

"Experienced musicians of all kinds of genres breaking the boundaries. No rules – no remorse. And that’s also how their music sounds like. Doom meets post, shoe-gaze, prog and several other kinds of music. All is authentic, all is glare.

"In July 2016 Glare Of The Sun booked the Vato Loco Studios of Martin Schirenc (Pungent Stench) to create first album 'Soil,' which will be released in January 2017 on Lifeforce Records. Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath) and his Unisound Studio Sweden was responsible for the mastering." More...

Child Bite Releases "Vermin Mentality" Video

Detroit's Child Bite is pleased to unveil the visual companion to the track "Vermin Mentality," taken from the "Negative Noise" full-length, released earlier this year via Housecore Records.

After an incompetent scientist botches a series of tests on his lab rats, the creatures mutate and launch a vicious attack on humanity starting with the members of Child Bite, who must defend themselves from the stronghold of their tour van against the monstrous pests.

The delightfully murine-centric clip was written and directed by Ryan Oliver of Deathblow Productions and includes appearances by Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Wayne Alon Scott (Tim And Eric's Bedtime Stories), Danny Belrose (Portlandia, Brooklyn 99), Sarah French (Killer Biker Chicks, Strip Club Slasher), and Elissa Dowling (Tales Of Halloween, We Are Still Here).

Elaborates Child Bite frontman Shawn Knight: "We consider ourselves very lucky to have snagged Ryan Oliver for our latest music video. We were familiar with his short films Restoration and Air Condition since they had screened at the Housecore Horror Film Fest. He had seen our previous videos, including 'Ancestral Ooze' [featuring King Buzzo from the Melvins], and was up for the task of dumping countless hours and buckets of elbow grease into this ambitious masterwork. Harkla Issues Album Update

Harkla just checked in with the following update about the progress of working on a new full-length album release:

"We're almost done with the recording session of the new songs. When we started writing material for the new release we wanted to try something different for us. We wanted this release to be as heavy as possible, but at the same time more melodic like our old stuff.

"So it's really not a new thing for us, just all the styles we have released combined together. We are really happy about the results! The writing process began almost exactly after the release of 'Thousands Of Machines,' so we have put alot off work to get the sound we wanted.

"Because we're still planning stuff, music videos, single etc, we can't set a date for the release yet. But it wont be to long. It's going to be a 12 track release."

1. Träskdöd
2. Brine hour

Quinta Essentia Posts New Video

Long-running extreme metal unit Quinta Essentia is pleased to issue the visual accompaniment to "The Stone As A Key." The psalm comes by way of the "Initiates Of The Great Work" full-length album, released earlier this year via Deathgasm and up for streaming here.

Recorded and engineered by former drummer Lance Wright at Stargate Studios in Huntsville, Alabama and mixed by Wright and Colin Davis (Vile), the ten-track offering centers itself around alchemy, electromagnetic energy, the illusions manifested in our culture, and expanded consciousness.

Elaborates band founder Jason Flippo: "Transcend into the world of sorcery and alchemy with us as we journey through hidden landscapes which are obscured by distraction yet revealed by determination. The true potential of our endeavors and the endeavors of the human race are unveiled by the very realization of their existence. The potential of metal music to be the vessel in which the higher purpose (or alchemical stone) can be attained is the unifying and healing element within the movement to make a powerful presence known to those who choose." Hour Of Penance Reveals New Album

Italian death metal band Hour Of Penance is ready to release seventh full-length album, "Cast the First Stone," through Prosthetic Records on January 27th, 2017.

The follow-up to 2014's "Regicide," new album "Cast the First Stone" was recorded at Kick Recording Studio by bassist Marco Mastrobuono. Giulio Moschini, lead guitarist and songwriter, goes into more detail on the album by saying:

"Sonically speaking , this is the best sounding album we've ever recorded. We really worked hard on this, listening to the album countless times before finally delivering the masters to Prosthetic Records. It was definitely worth the wait and we're 100% satisfied by the great work Marco has done behind the mixing desk. We've literally spent weeks trying different mic techniques, hardware and preamps; all trying to avoid plug-in technologies as much as we could. We wanted our album to sound more dynamic and I think that we've achieved that 100%."

Regarding the concept of the album, vocalist Paolo Pieri says it "revolves around the idea that the injustices suffered during the Crusades and Colonialism do not justify the chain of hate that propagandizes the destruction of the West."

Pieri expands on this: “I believe that the political situation in recent years has brought to light again a millennial conflict between West and East. Events like the terrorist attack at the Bataclan, where we only played a few months before the massacre, have influenced the lyrics on this record very much. It does not matter who has thrown the first stone, but who first evolved his ideology to seek peace and coexistence instead of war to the bitter end." More...

Woe Of Tyrants Working On Album

It's been six years since Woe Of Tyrants released the "Threnody" album, and now new material is finally in the works. The band commetns:

"Fall is here and the grind begins! Ever since Woe of Tyrants was born, our members have written in the fall. Most musicians I know personally love the fall and winter months for writing music. I guess cold weather and winter depression spreads creativity throughout the world! 'Threnody' was written against a deadline, all between September-October of 2009. 'Kingdom of Might' was written throughout the fall of 2008 and the first songs written for that album ('Seven Braids of Samson' and 'Break the Fangs of the Wicked') were both written the fall before, in 2007.

"I hope ya'll get where we are going with this *wink wink* Progress has been made in the few short months that we have decided to start writing new material, we have been tossing around ideas and being patient with what is being developed. We are battling impatience but the time put into the material really helps perfect everything. We have a vision here, but we can't settle for anything less than our best and the excitement has steadily been growing since we started. The bubble burst this past week and things are naturally falling into place just like the good old days. ;) More...
