Mashine Announces "Naturalis" Release

British prog group Maschine has announced the release of second studio album "Naturalis" for the 18th of November, 2016 via InsideOutMusic. The follow-up to debut "Rubidium," this is the first album to feature drummer James Stewart (Vader) & keyboardist/vocalist Marie-Eve de Gaultier.

Lead guitarist & vocalist Luke Machin had this to say: "I'm very proud of what we've done in the studio this time, we were very aware that the songs had to be the best we could do. After all, it does represent us at this point in time, and we were determined that everything about it should be the best that could be done."

The 6 tracks that make up the main album fit into a loose concept. Machin continues: "This is basically about natural events. It's something I've been thinking about and working on for some time. My interest really began with the Japanese tsunami in 2011. It had such a far reaching effect on so many people. Once I had the idea for the album fixed in my head, the whole thing just snowballed. But what I didn't want this to be was a record about natural disasters. That can be such a dark subject. What I wanted to emphasise was that there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope for mankind. And that's the vibe I wanted to come through." More...

Okkultokrati Streaming New Song

Norway's underworld quintet Okkultokrati unleashes another rabid new track from the "Raspberry Dawn" album as the record creeps up on its release through Southern Lord next week. Check out "Hard To Please, Easy To Kill" below.

Okkultokrati offers that the title of the track is, "directed towards the masters... your superiors." Giving more background on the song, the band states: "Feffe, our synthist, made this song. According to him, the sound is 'credible '70s synth meets non-cred 90's black metal synth.' Tangerine Dream, who everyone holds dear, being the former.

"But if you grew up as a metal kid in Norway in the mid-to-late '90s, you'll hear some hints to the likes of The Kovenant. This, along with the vocals getting more harsh and grim as the song progresses, adds up to the Emperor In the Nightside Eclipse feel we all love. As for the bass and drums, we just keep the Okkulto-beat through the whole thing. Like a futuristic Motörhead." More...

Animals As Leaders Reveals New Album

Animals As Leaders returns with fourth album, "The Madness of Many," on November 11th via Sumerian Records.

Die Choking Posts "Dead Figurehead" Video

Philadelphia's unhinged grind squad Die Choking just issued the first official video from unstoppable "III" LP. Check out "Dead Figurehead" below, directed by Mitchell Luna (Maruta, Noisear) and Josh Mahesh (Heikousen, Fraud).

Die Choking issues, "'Dead Figurehead' is a fuck-off to intolerance and pushes against the rising neo-fascism we are seeing in the US right now. There is a transparency and widespread popular criticism of American politics that we haven't really seen since the 1960's.

"The current candidacy has been an eye-opening mirror for Americans. In the end, it seems elected politicians are frequently not the leaders we want or need. Unfortunately, they may be the leaders we deserve." More...

Forty Winters Posts "Human Sacrifice" Video

South Florida heavy metal outfit Forty Winters has launched a lyric video for the track "Human Sacrifice," taken from sophomore album "Rotting Empire," out now via Dead Truth Recordings.

Vocalist Xavier Vicuna offers: "The track 'Human Sacrifice' is the second we took from Rotting Empire that we felt would make for a sick lyric video. The visuals for the vid were created by our dear friend Mitch Luna [from the Miami, Fla. grindcore band, Maruta]. Believe it or not, 'Human Sacrifice' was supposed to be on the 2013 'Isolation' EP. It's a really fun song, nice and abrasive. The lyrical content is pretty cut and dry, it's a story about that good ole fashioned sacrifice. Let the inhumanity ensue."

"Rotting Empire" was recorded by Jesse Kirkbride (Black Tongue, Aversions Crown, Enterprise Earth) at Kirkbride Recordings in Cape Coral, Fla., and features special guest appearances by Chad Ruhlig (For the Fallen Dreams) and Adam Warren (Oceano). Artwork comes courtesy of artist Bill Hauser (Ozzy Osbourne, Gorilla Biscuits, Sick Of It All, Toxic Holocaust, Cruel Hand). More...

Opeth Streaming "The Wilde Flowers"

Sweden’s Opeth just premiered a new song called “The Wilde Flowers" online, featured on the band’s 12th studio album "Sorceress" (reviewed here), which is scheduled for release on September 30th.

Speaking with Metal Hammer, vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt says “This was the first song I wrote for this album. It’s kind of an Opeth standard, in a way, like from the last two albums. It’s very dynamic. It has a chorus, I guess.

"Then there’s a big Queen-sounding bit in the middle just before this massive solo… oh, and harps! They’re hidden in the mix but they’re there. The title comes from the band Caravan – they were originally called Wilde Flowers. I always liked those weird spellings.”

"Sorceress" features the following track listing:

1. Persephone
2. Sorceress (song streaming here)
3. The Wilde Flowers

Northern Crown Premieres "Les Autres"

Doom on my metallic brethren! The metal upstarts from Northern Crown are about to return with a sophomore album, this time with a bigger emphasis on the rock organ and a less rigid approach to the genre.

Ahead of the release of new album "The Others" next month, we're stoked to be exclusively premiering an advance listen with the closing track "Les Autres."

Listen in below, and if you dig what you hear, pre-orders are now up through Bandcamp. Songwriter and guitarist Zachary Randall comments on the track:

"Les Autres is a pretty raw, personal song. If you ever want to know me, as a person, in an unfiltered state, this song is it. Going back and listening to it now, I'm very shocked at how blunt, honest and angry I am. The whole song is inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre and his play 'No Exit'... but it's really me holding up a mirror for my self and describing what I see... and then casting that same gaze upon those who cross my path.

"It's not kind, it's not pleasant, but it's real. If you ever want to know what it's like for a man to exorcise his demons for all to see, this is it. I love this song, I love the riffs, the solos, I love Frank's vocals...I love everything about this song. I just hope I never again have to live through what brought this song about."

New album "The Others" follows debut EP "In The Hands Of The Betrayer" (reviewed here) and will drop October 14th, 2016. More...
