Pit Stories: Breathing In Our Ball Sack Juice

In recent weeks we've had completely unexpected mosh pits and gothic throw downs where punches land on the wrong fans, but there's still plenty more Pit Stories to come this month!

Today Mick McCullagh from the Frontiers Music-signed, U.K. chug rock outfit Bigfoot checked in with us to share a tale of an epic home town show.

Mick recalls this tale of a completely stuffed venue and an overly intoxicated fan who managed to mess up the equipment:

Our hometown gigs at The Boulevard in Wigan were always eventful to put it lightly... this one time in particular it was packed to the rafters. You couldn't even move in there and they sold out of most beers before we even hit the stage. As soon as we came on the crowd blew up which we love, but being so intimate and the crowd literally breathing in our ball sack juice we just knew something was gonna happen.

A let's just say extremely intoxicated lady who was right at the front tumbled on my pedal board and completely cut my guitar sound out. I laughed but wanted to murder her deep inside. Sweating serious ball sack (as she decided to aim the fan at her also) I just about managed to get my rig working again after what seemed like millennia but was only a small portion of the song in Einstein's theory of general relativity. The show went on very successfully thank god.

Bigfoot's self-titled album is due to drop October 13th, 2017 via Frontiers Music Srl. Check out a music video for album track "The Fear" below. More...

Erdve Inks Deal With Season Of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of freshly conceived Lithuanian experimental hardcore collective Erdve. The band will release debut full-length album "Vaitojimas" via the record deal.

Erdve comments: "Since Erdve is a very young name, this collaboration is proof that it is all about what matters the most - the music itself. We certainly did not have any expectations that the record could be presented to a wider audience, yet we are extremely proud and happy that our desire to create something meaningful for ourselves has procured a relationship with a record label which believes in artistic value.

"This partnership is a huge achievement in our creative lives and will set a strong basis for us to communicate our music, ideas, and artistic identity further on. We are incredibly thankful to Season of Mist for this opportunity.'' More...

Hooded Menace Announces Lineup Shifts

Hooded Menace has now announced some changes in the group's line-up in advance of a next studio album, which will be released via Season of Mist early in 2018.

Bassist Markus Makkonen will now be fully replaced by Antti Poutanen from Church of the Dead and Devenial Verdict. Furthermore, Kryptis drummer Otso Ukkonen takes over for Pekka Koskelo, who already recorded all tracks for the forthcoming full-length album.

Guitarist Lasse Pyykkö comments on behalf of Hooded Menace: "While Markus has left the band earlier to focus on Sadikstik Forest, we unfortunately have to let you know that or long-time drummer Pekka has also decided to leave. Our decision to relocate our headquarters (read: rehearsal place) from Joensuu to Helsinki has made it impossible for him to continue with us for private as well as professional reasons. We respect his decision and wish Pekka nothing but the best in his future. You can hear his last performance with us on our forthcoming new album. Massive thanks for all these years in Hooded Menance, Pekka! More...

Divinity Recruits Second Guitarist

Divinity just announces the addition of 2nd guitarist Gord Olson to the band line-up. Olson is a dedicated and talented 7-string shredder who is endorsed by Schecter Guitars and is also currently active in numerous projects such as Ye Goat-Herd Gods and Demisery.

Vocalist Sean Jenkins comments: “The band had originally asked Gord to join the band about four years ago, but timing and commitment didn't work out. Recently, about 2 months ago, Gord was hanging out at a jam session and by the end of it we all sort of realized that the opportunity for Gord to learn some songs and start jamming was now possible. Gord really took bull by the horns and has learned a 10-song live set in a matter of just weeks… and he’s nailing it; really adding another huge layer of thickness and some killer leads too! We couldn't be more stoked to have dual guitarists again!”

Divinity will embark on a dual album release tour with Vancouver, BC’s Expain. The tour will be in promotion of Divinity's latest album “The Immortalist,” along with Expain's forthcoming EP “Pinching Nerves."

Eyes Of The Sun Signs With Black Light

Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of Brooklyn's doom metal trio Eyes Of The Sun. After releasing a self-titled EP in 2010, and debut full-length "Chapter I" in 2013, the band is now poised to release a sophomore effort in 2018.

Eyes Of The Sun comments: "This is the absolute highlight of our journey and we look forward to the days ahead. We are extremely proud to be part of the Blacklight Media/Metal Blade family and its history. This is a testament to the support of our friends, family and fans that have been with of us throughout the years."

Chris Santos (Blacklight Media) adds: "The beauty of Blacklight Media, for me, is that I get to work with bands from so many different genres of metal, and am so psyched to be building such a diverse and uniquely different roster of amazing metal bands. On that note, I'm super stoked to be working with my friends Eyes Of the Sun from right here in Brooklyn, who are a crushingly heavy, wall-shaking earthquake of heavy doom with a live sound that has to be heard to be believed."
