I'm glad that Metallica is finally sounding like themselves again....song is pretty good, not sure if i like it better than hardwired though.....they better put a florida date on their US tour because the last time I saw them was in 2011 on the Big 4 world tour and I had to get myself all the way to California for it.....i still think they're going to have a hard time competing against the new sodom and suicidal tendencies albums.....

I really like this song. Hardwired was a bit one-dimensional, but still alright. This song though is more congruent with what I was imagining the new album would sound like. There's still plenty of Death Magnetic in it, but I can hear pieces of Load/Reload and the Black album, as well as something fresh and entirely new. Now I'm really excited for the release.

My comment was referencing music in general. If you like something (not presupposing you will like the new Metallica), why does it need to compete with anything?
Can't you like both, if you find the music suits you?
Specifically as to Metallica, not sure why "Death Magnetic" gets a ridiculous amount of criticism. That was the turn from dreadful to what you hear today. It was a very solid album that is fashionable to hate.
