Steve Smyth comments: “The video depicts a wild ride into the not so distant future, where we find our rebel team entering a virtual world to reach their leader, the Hacker, only to be interrupted by the world leader the Cynic, busy blanketing all media with his driveling, meaningless rhetoric, with points inside his speech aimed at making our world seem hopeless without him and his leadership. In comes our hero the Hacker to spread the message of hope and independent thinking outside of conformity, and the war ensues, complete with a virus sent via virtual reality. Who will win? My Dying Bride Posts "Feel The Misery" Video
My Dying Bride has released a music video for the title track off upcoming 12th opus, "Feel the Misery." The album is set to drop on September 18, while the new music video is available below.
Using "The Raft of Medusa" by French romantic painter Théodore Géricault as visual inspiration, as well as taking cues from the band's own bleak and foreboding music, My Dying Bride's latest video is a harrowing tale of tragedy and loss.
Filmed on the stunning Pembroke coast of South Wales, and in particular St. Govan's Chapel, the scenes were set to play out the narrative as vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe takes the role of a lone musician and poet who stumbles upon a fallen maiden while combing the seascape for curiosities. Clearly the victim of a recent shipwreck, she is gathered up and removed to a suitable, somber resting place, all the while the mournful "Feel the Misery" plays alongside, marrying the rich visuals with the melancholic song.
Directed by James Sharrock and Ryan Mackfall, Sharrock explains: "The concept for 'Feel the Misery' has been in my head for a while. It is loosely based on the famous painting 'Raft of Medusa' by Theodore Gericault painted in 1819, and when I heard the song it invoked the creative idea I had been thinking about.
"In May this year I read in the news reports of a 'Ghost ship' carrying 350 starving Rohingya Muslims vanishing off Thailand. Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand refused to engage in search-and-rescue operations, instead pushing the boats back to sea, letting the people starve and refusing to accept the asylum seekers - similar to the story behind 'Raft of Medusa.' It was only later in the year as we were filming the music video down around the Pembrokeshire coast that the media took a greater interest in the deaths of asylum seekers in the Mediterranean. The song has allowed me to bring to life not only issues that are currently facing us all, but a masterpiece that reflects a similar tragedy from centuries ago." More...

Vocalist James Brookes had this to say: "'Lethal District' is somewhat of a post apocalyptic view of the surviving factions of humanity that instill themselves as the powers that be, and thus cast out the unclean, unworthy, and so forth. And therefore it sheds light on the madness and revolt of the unwanted."
Evertrapped also recently appeared on Metalunderground to discuss dodging dangerous moose for our weekly roundup of Pit Stories. More...

The Black Dahlia Murder Streaming New Album
All of The Black Dahlia Murder's new album "Abymsal" is now online for streaming ahead of the official September 18, 2015 drop date. Listen in below.
“Once the record started to come together we knew it was going to be something special,” states vocalist Trevor Strnad. “It’s more urgent, it has more dynamics, it’s a more emotive record, and it has a more raw, angry sound to it. It’s still million mile-per-hour death metal, but when you invest so much thought and emotion into what you’re creating you end up with a record that does stand out, and we can hold our heads up high and say yeah, this is our best work.“
The Black Dahlia Murder will return to North America this fall to headline the IndieMerch Tour with Iron Reagan, Harm's Way and Maruta. The trek will start Oct 3 and run through Oct 30. Full dates are available after the jump. More...

Rex Shachath Releasing New EP
Having laid low since the end of 2014, Northern Irish death metal band Rex Shachath is back for blood with a brand new record, which will be out November 20, 2015 via Great Dane Records.
Entitled "Revocation Of The Blood Elect," this new EP might not be what people are expecting if they're familiar with the band's debut offering "Sepulchral Torment." Since that release the band has had time to coalesce into an entirely new animal.
Tackling social issues such as the state of modern society and man's exorbitant desire for wealth at the expense of our natural world, the band has harnessed a sound more befitting to such issues on this forthcoming record. Old school ideals kneaded with modern death metal notions on a much punchier production is what we have here.
Vocalist and lyricist Dave Connolly sums the record up with a quote from French philosopher Denis Diderot, "Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest." More...
Geoff Tate To Appear On Avantasia Album
Avantasia's 7th studio album "Ghostlights" will be released via Nuclear Blast in early 2016. After revealing the return of Jorn Lande, another guest star can be announced - Operation: Mindcrime (former Queensryche) vocalist Geoff Tate.
This news may be met with a somewhat less enthusiastic response considering how Operation: Mindcrime's new album "The Key" is being received overall (reviewed here).
Avantasia's Tobias comments: "I am proud to announce a very special guest today: Mr. Geoff Tate! I have been fortunate enough to meet many amazing classic metal vocalists. Whenever we've talked about our influence as vocalists the name Geoff Tate was brought up.
"Throughout his incredible career of more than 30 years Geoff has constantly explored new territory as an artist and vocalist, while he has always managed to maintain this distinctive signature vocal sound that makes him stand out.
"His contribution sounds nothing but amazing, and you will immediately know why the man had such a huge impact on vocalists and fans around the globe! Enchanting, unique, amazing, progressive in the purest sense of the word! Thank you for joing the Avamtasoa family, Geoff Tate!"
