Swallow The Sun Reveals Triple Album Details
The melancholy death/doom masters from Swallow The Sun will bring us a bold, adventurous and characteristically dark triple full-length album entitled "Songs from the North I, II & III" due out November 13, 2015 via Century Media Records.
Incorporating dark menace and gradations of death, black and funeral doom, each of the three albums of embodies the band's unofficial band motto, "Gloom, Beauty & Despair." Main songwriter and guitarist Juha Raivio comments on the triple album concept:
"Making a triple album in this godforsaken digital and modern day and age... Many will say it's madness. I say it is to bring worth, heart and respect back into the music and to the album format where it belongs. This should never turn into a shallow fast food industry where music is only downloaded one song at a time. These albums hold life, death, gloom, beauty and despair in their deepest levels and forms. The three chapters are different but connected, one long journey through these songs written up here in the North. Music is holy, albums are holy. See you on the other side friends." More...

McDonalds Themed Black Sabbath Band Exists!
Loosen that belt and bring your love for extra cheese – Mac Sabbath is coming to feed your need for heavy metal. Named by Buzzfeed as one of the “13 Metal Bands You Didn’t Know How to React To”, Mac Sabbath will McStake that claim in 14 remaining cities on the way to Los Angeles, CA for a special Halloween tour closer show.
Mixing raucous comedy with borderline-horrific theatrics, the only thing more petrifying than impending health problems resulting from years of overeating is a Mac Sabbath show. Set wise, this ain’t no value meal – innocent bystanders can enjoy 10 fantastically alarming Sabbath-turned-junk food themed tunes on this tour:
More Ribs
Chicken For The Slaves
Sweet Beef
Brand of Doom
N.I.B.B.L.E.
Lord of the Swirled
Zippin Up the Uniform
Frying Pan
Cherries Are Fruits
Pair-A-Buns
Manager Mike Odd comments on how the band came together: "It was the Year of Our Lord 2013, and I was devouring a cheeseburger in a Chatsworth, CA franchise of a certain multinational fast food conglomerate, which shall remain nameless. A crazed skull face painted, dirt-bag, clown sat down beside me. This Skeletor reject of Uriah Heap introduced himself as Ronald Osborne and was familiar with my work. I was informed that Ronald, Slayer Mac Cheeze, Grimalice, and the Cat Burglar, were performing secret rock shows in the bunker-like basements of the local restaurants.
"But the time had come, he said, to bring drive-thru metal up from the 'underground,' and he asked if I would consider becoming the manager. BAM! Abruptly we were thrown to the sidewalk (apparently the daytime manager was not informed of this activity). I looked over at Ronald, watched him brush off the sodium chloride and GMO remnants of my UN happy meal.
"Before I knew it, I was in a burger stand bomb shelter, witnessing Black Sabbath music, hilarious fast food lyrics, smoldering clown heads with laser eyes, a giant purple gumdrop bass player, and Tony Iommi with a giant cheeseburger head. I was confused, amazed and can’t ever remember feeling so… happy! More...

Extreme Noise Terror Releasing New Album
UK-based punk/grindcore outfit Extreme Noise Terror will unleash a self-titled new full-length via Willowtip Records on November 5, 2015.
Extreme Noise Terror's first studio album in six years sees the band returning to its hardcore punk roots with a manic, stripped down and aggressively raw sound that saw the band become a firm favorite throughout the '80s and '90s with punks and metal fans alike.
Tracked at Springvale Studios with longtime producer Mark H. Harwood, the album features the lead guitar talents of guest musician Kody from Singapore hardcore punk band Minus and includes a cover of "I Like Cola" by '80s Japanese hardcore pioneers, Outo, that sits alongside twelve of the band's fastest, most intense tracks to date.
Says frontman Dean Jones of the recording: "This album takes us purely back to the days of A Holocaust In Your Head, Earslaughter and Phonophobia with the true original blend of frenetic, super hi-octane fueled madness mixed with a few 'Show Us You Care'-style, catchy-as-hell, circle moshing break up bits. Our best album yet. If this doesn't blow your head off, nothing will!" More...

Bolt Thrower Drummer Passes Away
Bolt Thrower has released the following statement about drummer Martin Kearns unexpectedly passing away earlier this week:
"With the heaviest of hearts, and still numb from shock, we have to share the very sad news that on Monday 14th September Bolt Thrower lost our powerhouse drummer, Martin ‘Kiddie’ Kearns.
"After the first rehearsal for our upcoming tour of Australia, Kiddie suddenly felt unwell which continued throughout the night, and the next day he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
"He was a fantastic dad, husband, son, friend, but to us he was always ‘Kiddie’, the same 17 year old Coventry kid whose drumming style and personality blew us away when he first walked into our rehearsal room 20+ years ago.
"Kiddie enriched our lives, and the Bolt Thrower sound. He leaves a massive hole in the lives of everyone who knew him and will be very sorely missed by many."
Bolt Thrower recently performed a series of Canadian shows (including at the Amnesia Rockfest shown in the footage below) and was scheduled to perform later this month in Australia, with those shows presumably cancelled. More...

ProgPower USA Format Change Announced
On the heels of announcing the 2016 lineup for the main festival portion of ProgPower USA last Friday night (now known as ProgPower USA Days 3 & 4 - see information here), promoter Glenn Harveston has announced a change in the format for what was once known as "Mid-Week Mayhem" (the Wednesday show promoted by Milton Mendonca of Infinity Concerts) and the "Kick-Off Show" (the Thursday show promoted by Nathan Block of Swordlord Productions).
The announcement reads: "How about we progress next year?
"ProgPower USA Mid-Week Mayhem: Gone
ProgPower USA Kick-Off: Gone.
"It's time to shake things up a bit and kick it up a notch. We will be moving to a new format next year we believe is best for everyone. ProgPower USA XVII will now be a four-day event in the the main theater at Center Stage. Milton Mendonca (Mid-Week Mayhem promoter) & Nathan Block (Kick-Off promoter) will co-promote both nights going forward. I'm also going to throw my hat in the ring with next year to help transition things as well. So, what should you expect? Wednesday will see four bands on the main stage. Thursday will only see three bands. However, these bands will be the "Promoter's Pick." In other words, Nathan will personally book one band, Milton will personally book one band, and I will personally book the headliner that night. After this year, they take over those two nights completely in the future.
"The only other difference is there will only be two-night tickets placed on sale for Day 1 (Wednesday) & Day 2 (Thursday) initially on November 7th. Individual nights will be sold next summer if there are any remaining. Trust me when I say we are building a roster worthy of getting you to Atlanta for all four nights. Further information on tickets will be announced in the coming weeks.
"As those that attended the festival this year know, we had to cancel the video presentation scheduled for Saturday night. One of the booked bands withdrew at the last minute. We thought it best to not show the video and confuse anyone. Instead, we are going old school promo style. We will be announcing one band every 1-2 weeks via a video presentation courtesy of our own Art Director, Wayne Joyner. That starts tomorrow at a random time.
"On behalf of Nathan, Milton & myself, we thank you for your continued support."
Stay tuned for the first band announcement tomorrow. More...

Recordings for the release began in London at Orgone Studios (Ghost, Paradise Lost, Cathedral) in the fall of 2014 with drummer, Jaime Gomez Arellano handling production duties. The recording boasts strong melodic ideas with classic, heavy riffs inspired by the sounds of Scorpions, UFO, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and the like.
Mirror is the musical brainchild of bassist and die-hard metal connoisseur Tas Danazoglou (Electric Wizard, Satan's Wrath). A chance meeting with London-based producer and accomplished drummer Jaime Gomez Arellano led to the two embarking on a shared musical vision that encompasses classic hard-rock, proto-metal sound with tasteful songwriting and musicianship. Guitarist Stamos K. was next to join. His musical instincts and considerable production experience suited the band's ethos perfectly. He was followed by seasoned performer, Jimmy Mavromatis who, with his operatic tenor vocals, rounded out the growing roster. The final addition to the lineup was Los Angeles-based guitarist Matt Olivo whose infamy was earned as the co-founder of grindcore pioneers Repulsion.

3. Year of the Red Moon
4. Heavy King
5. Madness and Magik
