Unearthing The Fledgling Metal Underground

We have somehow reached a staggering 21,000 bands being covered at Metalunderground.com, so with so much noise polluting the airwaves, how's a metal head to know what's worth listening to and what isn't?

We're aiming to help you out with that decision by unearthing three underground groups you should be paying attention to if you dig your metal on the extreme side. This week we dig up three groups that are still new and just getting their footing – with two of them only releasing their debut full-lengths in the coming weeks.

Apparatus

This Denmark-based outfit is just making an appearance in the metal scene, gearing up to release a first studio album next month, consisting of 11 tracks of lo-fi Miskatonic metal that alternately blasts sanity with discordant melody or lays waste to everything with pummeling riffs not afraid to either move at a crawl or take off at light speed.

With titles like “R'lyeh” and “Akrham,” obviously we're dealing with some serious Lovecraft worship here. Dive into the bleak depths with an advance album stream below, or you can pre-order a physical copy through Lavadome Productions.

The Body Announces Split With Krieg

The continuing discography of apocalyptic rogue faction The Body expands once again with a newest anti-human outcry through a collaborative LP with Krieg. The split is now locked up for official release on November 13, 2015 through At A Loss Recordings.

Formed in mid-1990s and late 1990s, respectively, Krieg and The Body met in the mid 2000s, being different sonically but sharing a bleak world view and inspirations musically far outside of the genre standards of metal. When Neill Jameson, the sole founding and constant member of Krieg, showed up to the recording sessions at Machines With Magnets in Providence, Rhode Island with only an acoustic guitar, a few pedals and a bottle of whiskey, Lee Buford and Chop King of The Body knew that the collaboration would be something vastly different from their other recordings.

Written and recorded during the long sessions of The Boyd's "Christs, Redeemers" and "I Shall Die Here" LPs, the end result is a blackened industrial crush of noise and anguish. Stand by for audio transmissions, pre-order links and more on The Body & Krieg in the coming days. The track listing is:

1. Bottom Of The Bottle, Bottom Of The River
2. Carved Out And Caved In
3. Fracture
4. Celebrate Your Shame
5. Never Worth Your Name
6. Gallows
7. A Failure Worth Killing Yourself

New Disorder Posts Music Video

Rome, Italy based alternative metal band New Disorder has a music video out now for “A Senseless Tragedy (Bloodstreams)” taken from the freshly released album "Straight To The Pain."

The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Wolf Recording Studios (San Cesareo, Rome, Italy) by Gianmarco Bellumori (as a sound engineer) for Agoge Records.New Disorder's Francesco Lattes also had this to say:

"Finally our new album is next to be released in North America and we are so proud and excited about that. The topics dealt range from the death of a friend, love, hate and other strong emotions, to sex spiked with pain, existential issues, as well as escape from popularity’s oppression under a new identity. We decided to celebrate with a new video out just a few days before the album.

"The song we have choosen for that video has one of the catchiest choruses we’ve ever written and direct, biting lyrics. It takes free inspiration from current events we often read in the newspaper nowadays. We love introducing that song in this way: 'When dreams and nightmares collide, things have no sense anymore, and love can be close to hate and joy turns into pain. Now, sit down and be the beholder of the movie of your life.' The video is directed by the talented Paul Sciò and starring our friends and musicians Andrej Surace, Francesca Di Ventura and Alessio Secondini Morelli." More...

Certo Porcos Releasing "Odio 666"

Greyhaze Records has announced the upcoming release of "Odio 666," the new album from Brazilian hardcore deviants Certo Procos. Featuring 16 tracks of angst-ridden socio-political venom, "Odio 666" will be released on October 30 (North America) and November 2 (Europe). Greyhaze comments:

"Certo Porcos is one of the most promising new bands of the mythical Brazilian underground scene. Led by Rodrigo M. (Ex-Holocausto), the band’s musical approach is rooted in a mix of war metal, punk, and crust. The band’s politically-charged lyrics offer a discourse on the end of modern society at the hands of a hypocritical, money-grubbing government. This is Brazilian hardcore at its best. The album was produced by Andre Cabelo at the famed Engenho Studios in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Certo Porcos is for fans of early DRI, Exploited, Holocausto, Colera, and Olho Seco."

Mortiis Returning To U.S. For New Tour Dates

Mortiis will make a long-awaited return to the United States this fall as the band joins Mushroomhead for a month-long warm up tour in preparation for the release of "The Great Deceiver."

"The idea of going back on the road fills me with a weird sense of excitement and dread," said frontman and namesake Mortiis. "'The Great Deceiver' is not far away - at long last - and we´re getting back out there, brushing off the dust and rust, to get ready for that, and whatever lies beyond."

The group, which hasn't toured the American shores since a 2006 trek with the Genitorturers and the 2005 Blackest of the Black tour, will preview material from the upcoming ninth album, as well as reaching back to favorites from the ensemble's ever-evolving catalog of music.

"The Great Deceiver," which has remained in a torturous state of constant evolution until just recently, led the band through the darkest of places and back. The anger, frustration and disgust that permeate the record will be loud and clear in Mortiis' hostile live performance. More...
