Tantrum Releasing "Devirginized"
Originally launched as a limited self release from the band last year, Germany's Tantrum has now signed up with Inverse Records to officially release "Devirginized" digitally on September 25, 2015. Inverse Records also had this to say:
"Tantrum from Germany was born in 1998 by friends who joined to make music, but it broke apart in 2003 due to personal problems. In 2011 the unexpected happened, the rebirth of Tantrum. 2 founding members did’t want their instruments to rot on and so they searched in the darkest corners for new soldiers, and they found a session drummer and one for the vocals in a same year.
"After nearly 1.5 years the session drummer left the band to give the sticks to a younger one. The second guitar was yet used by the singer, but time goes by and the songs went diverse, so it was time to get another guitarist who was found in 2013. In 2014 the band conquered a studio to manifest the sounds of hell, since this day another plague was sent to earth… Tantrum."
The band also comments: "Listen metal heads, this is the first sign of Tantrum, for all of you who thought death 'n' thrash is dead, this will be the hammer to smash it out of your head . Full of rage and full of anger, 5 songs for the perfect armageddon. Because this is the first attack it will be called 'Devirginized.' So drink your beer and bang the shit out of your neck." More...

Bandit Releasing "Play Fast Or Die"
Bandit is a three-piece power violence act out of Wilmington, Delaware. Not one of the group's members is above the age of 20, yet you would never know it by the crushing sound and well-executed debut album.
"Play Fast Or Die" delivers both decimating PV, but also offers some well-executed grind and hardcore - pretty much, a blending of an album that smashes the control machine. The album is set to drop September 22 via Unholy Anarchy Records.

Nibiru Recruits New Drummer
Italian psychedelic sludge band Nibiru announces today the recruitment of new drummer L.C. Chertan (Origod). L.C. had this to say:
“Since the first time I listened to Nibiru I’ve been impressed by the huge emotional and spiritual blast they are able to create. When they asked me to join the band, I agreed in order to improve as a drummer, confronting myself with a very different style from my post-hardcore band Origod. Thanks to Nibiru, I can emotionally express the deepest and darkest side of myself."
Vocalist/guitarist Ardath adds: "L.C. Chertan from Origod officially joins Nibiru. It’s not easy to find a bond with our music and three ‘outside the box’ people like us, but L.C. Chertan made it. After just a few rehearsals we have found what we were looking for: more power and relentless energy also on stage, as we have some important live shows to be announced soon. Siatris will support me as guitarist and vocalist, just like he did during ‘Padmalotus’ recording sessions. Nibiru will show no mercy."
The band's album, "Padmalotus," was released via Argonauta Records on May 18, 2015 and can be heard below. More...

Sunday Old School: Korn
It was going to happen eventually. Nu metal, or at least what most people refer to as "nu metal," is being covered in Sunday Old School. Somewhat surprisingly though, it's definitely been around long enough to be featured in the column and despite the criticism the genre still gets, there's no denying it was a big part of the late nineties and early 2000s, providing plenty of gateway bands that led young rockers to "true metal." Today, we'll be looking at one of the most successful bands of the era, who many people credit with inventing the style, Bakersfield, California's own, Korn.
Korn began life in 1993, forming from the ashes of the bands L.A.P.D., which featured guitarist James Schaffer, drummer David Silveria and bassist Reginand Arvizu, and who released two albums before breaking up. The three aforementioned members decided to continue working together and recruited a second guitarist, Brian Welch and eventually a singer named Jonathan Davis, who only joined the group after consulting a psychic. That same year, the band released a demo album, "Neidermayer's Mind," which wasn't received particularly well by many listeners or critics, but nonetheless, seemed to attract enough interest to earn them support slots for House of Pain and Biohazard.
