Dynazty Cancels ProgPower Performance

ProgPower 2015 has kicked off and we've got boots on the ground rocking out and ready to write up their experiences when they get back, but it's been a less than smooth year getting the festival together.

After Hibria, Anubis Gate, and Persefone all had to drop off this year's bill for various reasons, now Dynazty is the latest casualty to visa problems preventing a scheduled performance. The festival's organizer comments:

"Dynazty will not be performing tomorrow. Three of the members of the band are here. Two remained behind and hoped to rescheduled for today. Despite assurances by the Swedish consul earlier this week, one of the band member's visas was not delivered. The band waited at the airport yesterday in hopes it would arrive prior to the flight. We attempted to get an emergency issue today and failed. More...

Wage War Posts "Twenty One" Video

Ocala, FL's Wage War has premiered a music video for new single "Twenty One" ahead of band's debut album "Blueprints," slated to release November 27, 2015.

In the music video, director Max Moore (Of Mice & Men, Silverstein, Real Friends) helps the band narrate the reality of growing up and self-identity.

"We are very excited to finally release 'Twenty One'. Musically, this song maintains our heavy roots while exploring the more melodic side of our band," explains guitarist Cody Quistad. "Twenty One is a figurative number for a time when you start to understand and accept life, learn that you're forgiven, and feel proud of who you really are, no matter your background. We shot the video with Max Moore and could not be more pleased with how it came out."

Wage War will hit the road this winter with label mates August Burns Red, Every Time I Die and Stick To Your Guns. The North American trek will kick off on November 27 in Philadelphia, PA at Theatre of Living Arts. The full routing is listed below. More...

Pope Vs. Pope Penis Measuring Contest

Metal Injection correspondent Robert Pasbani recently interviewed one of those nameless ghouls from Ghost and asked all you needed to know about the band in 2015.

The ghoul responded to questions about how "new" vocalist Papa Emeritus III is fitting into the band compared to his "predecessor." The ghoul also goes into in-depth detail about the recording process for the band's new record, "Meliora" (streaming in full right here by the way) as well as Kerry King's recent statement that he likes the band's image but not the music.

In what you wanted to know most, however, the ghoul describes the unique way in which Pope Francis resolved a parking dispute with Papa Emeritus that resulted in a Ghost show getting cancelled. Excerpts follow (full video below). More...

Moloken Reveals New Album Details

Swedish progressive sludge/post metal collective Moloken will undrape a third full-length this fall via Temple Of Torturous.

Titled "All Is Left To See," the band's first studio offering in four years was recorded mostly live by Pelle Henriksson at Tonteknik Recording (Refused, Breach, Cult Of Luna, Meshuggah, Entombed) and boasts thirty corrosive minutes of some of the band's most eclectic compositions to date.

Expanding upon the harsh, dejected air of the 2009 debut, "Our Astral Circle," the eight-track "All Is Left To See" is a monolithic wall of torment and despair shrouded in sulfuric atmospheres and an overwhelming sentiment of desolation.

Centered around a lyrical concept called mörkrets kärna (Swedish for "darkness core"), the record serves as a soundtrack to falling into a pit of misery, depression and paranoia, dragging down loved ones and trying desperately to make sense of it all. Could this be the end? All is left to see...

1. Subliminal Hymns
2. All Is Left To See
3. I Can't Hear You
4. Burst
5. Seventh Circle
6. Wreckage
7. I Dig Deeper
8. Beginning Of The End More...

Vastum Announces New Album

Through the verbose horror of first two LPs -- 2011's "Carnal Law" and 2013's "Patricidal Lust" -- San Francisco's Vastum sadistically carved a jagged dripping wound into an increasingly reductive American death metal scene.

An LP edition will follow in December.

Fans of Bolt Thrower, Grave, Death, Asphyx, Shroud Of The Heretic, Cruciamentum and the like are hereby on notice.

Vastum will also strike with new tour dates in support of "Hole Below," including the band's debut East Coast performances which are being slabbed for early November. Stand by for tour specifics in the coming days. The album's track listing is:

1. Sodomitic Malevolence

Trinakrius Signs With Pitch Black

Pitch Black Records has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Trinakrius:

"We are thrilled to welcome Italy’s doom metal masters Trinakrius to our roster! Formed in 1995 and with three albums already under their belt along with a huge experience performing live the band is now back with their new album, 'Introspectum.'

"Trinakrius is clearly a heavy metal band but with cited main influences such as Black Sabbath, Candlemass, and Cathedral one can easily tell that doom is in their blood! Their music is dark, often creating an eerie atmosphere while at other times offers faster galloping riffing. The band’s new album, consisting of 7 tracks and clocking at just over 40 minutes long, is pure doom heavy metal at its very best!

"2015 finds the band with a completely new line up, with only original founding-member Claudio Florio (drums) still present but this year also sees the return of original vocalist Francesco Chiazzese. With a superb new album the band is clearly stating that Trinakriusis here to stay for good!" More...

Founding vocalist George Anthony leads the charge in 2015, joined by a lineup of hardcore convicts: drummer Mike Vega plays in cult thrashers Hirax, Matt Vicknair has spent time on bass in USHC hardcore group Angry Samoans, and the band now sees guitarist Nate Javier, also of Angry Samoans and others, joining the lineup. The new 7" track listing is as follows:

Side A:

Teloch Vovin Streaming "Vena Cava"

A devastating new hymn from NYC black metal coven Teloch Vovin and the "Further Down The Tunnel" EP has been launched online as the record nears release on the Fall Equinox.

Check out the song "Vena Cava" below. Teloch Vovin, a band that doesn't understand how capitalization works in the slightest, also comments:

"When the Torrential wave of Hell Slams, Hammering thru the Absurdity. Down thru the Flesh, Down thru the Spirit. Vena Cava--OverFlowing Life's Ink... These Lines speak volumes about the Inspiration behind the song. The Flesh as a Prison for the Spirit, the Absurdity of Life itself and the Anxiety, Depression, Rage and Hopelessness Experienced thru this Absurdity. It also relates to the Death Worship behind the Band. The Desire for Death's Embrace and the Negation of Being."

KillSET Releases New Video

KillSET, the metal band based out of Los Angeles, is pleased to announce the official release of new video "Cold Victim," taken off the "Know Your Killer" album.

"Cold Victim" started as an idea born out of the frustration terrorist attacks and acts of pure evil and horror that have ruled our airwaves for some time now. No matter the tragedy though, it seems that we always find a way to come together as one and fight these attempts on our way in life and freedoms. The true message is that no matter what the type of victimization one may face, we have the ability to fight back and overcome adversity.

KillSET was created by James "Jas" Dillon (Drums), Mark Baker (Bass), and Dave Comer (Guitars), who combined forces with new singer Chris Luca (Vocals). More...

Neurotic November Streaming "On The Come Up"

Neurotic November has released “On The Come Up,” a no-holds-barred track taken from category-defying sophomore release, "Fighting Words," arriving next week on September 18, 2015.

“’On The Come Up’ is about focusing and turning your dreams into reality,” explains bassist Bear. “There are a lot of people in life who will try and knock you down with their words, everyone knows a 'hater.' Avoid them, and keep doing what you do. Roach (guitar), and our producer came up with the idea to have a track where vocalist Dee Dee raps all the way through. He wanted Nig (guitar) on the verse as well, and I wanted in on the idea! It's the trifecta of 3 different struggles with one main focus. We're on the come up 2K15!”

Power From Hell Opens The "Devil's Whorehouse"

Hells Headbangers has confirmed today the signing of Brazil's Power From Hell. The label comments:

"For over a decade now, Power From Hell have been something of a cult institution in the metal underground. Their four albums to date have been highly coveted for their unapologetic simplicity and sinister aura, and now longtime fans Hells Headbangers will step in to unleash their fifth album, 'Devil's Whorehouse!"

"In many ways, 'Devil's Whorehouse' is the perfect distillation of the Power From Hell experience: immediately headbanging mini-anthems extolling the virtues of every evil, all draped in deliberately crude production that oozes atmosphere.

"Naturally, the band's moniker gives some clue as to where their allegiance and influences lay, but other 'Class of 84' names like Bathory, Hellhammer, Japan's Sabbat, and very early Slayer should spell in no uncertain terms what kind of black metal the duo of Sodomic and Tormentor favor most. But it's the ghostly yet still-aggressive aura surrounding Devil's Whorehouse that really sets Power From Hell away from the pack, and closer to primitive isolationists like Countess, labelmates Gravewurm, and Canada's Megiddo."

A release date and finalized cover artwork will be revealed shortly. In the mean time, check outa video for "Old Metal" below. More...

Devil You Know Reveals New Album Details

Devil You Know is streaming "Stay of Execution" below, which is also the first look into sophomore recording effort "They Bleed Red," set for a November 6, 2015 release through Nuclear Blast. This release follows debut album "The Beauty of Destruction" (reviewed here). Francesco Artusato (guitars) states:

"This one was definitely a song that happened unexpectedly. The point was to make a ‘heavy' song (of course, haha) that would have a lot of hooks and cool parts, but not fallowing a typical structure so we had fun trying different things. We have the black metal part, the groovy part, an epic chorus, cool bridge section, gang vocals at the end, etc. It’s literally a bit of everything.

"I wrote the main riff while walking in a mall somewhere while on tour. I was humming it into my phone so I would remember it for later. It was a weird day, haha. I’m just so excited for this new record. It’s a beast! I can’t wait to start playing the new material and the next tour with Fiver Finger Death Punch and Papa Roach in Europe this November is going to be massive!”

John Sankey (drums) further adds: “The track, 'Stay Of Execution,' was the last song that was written for our new album. I wanted us to have a track that was fast, brutal and really slamming with an unconventional song structure. Francesco and I had some demos that we hadn’t used yet, so I tore a few of those unfinished tracks apart and pieced together the coolest sections to create this song. It is definitely one of my favorite tunes from the album because for me personally this feels more like the death metal style that I’m used to playing. There's blast beats, lots of double bass and some really cool busy drum fills. More...

Slayer Posts "Repentless" Music Video

Slayer's 12th studio album "Repentless" is out today - 9/11 - and in celebration the band drops a new music video for the title track.

The video was shot late last month at the Sybil Brand Institute in East Los Angeles and is a grizzly depiction of what the Kerry King-created word means: "to feel no regret or remorse."

Slayer performed the song in the prison yard while a riot broke out, blood flowed in abundance, and inmates and prison guards were slaughtered. Directed by BJ McDonnell and produced by Felissa Rose, the video features cameos by actors who have been part of some of the most iconic horror films ever made: Danny Trejo ("Machete," "From Dusk Till Dawn"), Tony Moran ("Halloween's" Michael Myers, "American Poltergeist"), Derek Mears ("Predators," "Friday the 13th") Tyler Mane ("Halloween") Jason Trost ("Hatchet III"), Sean Whalen ("Men In Black," "Halloween II"), and Vernon Wells ("Mad Max 2," "Commando," "Weird Science").

This is McDonnell's first stint directing a music video. He directed the 2013 horror film "Hatchet III," and his resume as a motion picture cameraman includes "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Ant-Man" and "The Interview."

For the "Repentless" video, McDonnell and Rose brought in stunt coordinator Nils Allen Stewart who is known for his work on films like "Planet of The Apes," "Anger Management" and "Daredevil." More...

Paul Masvidal Comments On Cynic Breakup

Oh boy... things are getting Queensryche / Gorgoroth / Immortal ugly after yesterday's Cynic breakup announced by Sean Reinert, as apparently not everyone wanted the disbanding to happen - or even knew the announcement was coming.

Fellow Cynic member Paul Masvidal posted this message online:

Things quickly devolved on the Cynic Facebook page both from the side of the fans and the band, with Reinert subsequently posting this series of messages about the situation:

"Instead of playing into the 'tit for tat' game of trying to defend any accusations of unscrupulous behavior on my part, with regards to the split of Cynic (Paul and I: Two people, Not three) would be childish. But he's caught in a lie below saying he can't post and I took over the page which is obviously not true. I'll leave it at that. I can't physically stop Paul from playing Cynics music with other musicians, but it won't be Cynic merely Paul playing Cynic songs with hired guns, which as stated he's wanted for a while. This isn't the way I wanted things to work out.

"I would just like to add one small thing and then just let the dust settle. When you are in a bad marriage you just get divorced…. you don't ask your spouse 'is it ok if we get a divorce, I'm not happy and this isn't working?' No you JUST DO IT. How this could 'come as news to me' and in the same paragraph say 'things have been quite challenging over the years.' Seems like it's been a possibility for years then doesn't it? Would you stay in an abusive relationship business or otherwise?"

Looks like we're unfortunately about about to have another schism with competing bands and lawsuits.

Amberian Dawn Premieres "The Court Of Mirror Hall"

Finnish symphonic metal act Amberian Dawn will release the new album "Innuendo" on October 23rd via Napalm Records. Metal Underground.com is proud to bring you the new track "The Court Of Mirror Hall," which can be viewed via the new lyric video in the player below. "Innuendo" is the band's seventh full length studio effort and can be pre-ordered at this location.

On the track, keyboardis Tuomas Seppälä commented: "The Court of Mirror Hall” represents a different side of my musical visions compared with many of my earlier compositions for AD. The song is very keyboard & vocal driven. I wanted that song to have a certain groove and most of that feeling is coming from vivid bass guitar line and rhytmic keyboard riff. The arrangement of that song is quite light and clear. There's no orchestrations, instead of that I wanted that song to be very airy, fresh and packed with a lot of vocal stems."

The track listing for the album is:

1. Fame & Gloria
2. Ladyhawk
3. Innuendo
4. The Court Of Mirror Hall
5. Angelique
6. Rise Of The Evil
7. Chamber Of Dreadful Dreams
8. Knock Knock Who’s There
