Listen in below, or download your own copy at the official Muldjord website here. Muldjord also comments:

"The riffs and song structures have solidified over the course of about a year and a half. Throughout this period I’ve been listening to a very broad variety of bands like Solstafir, Düreforsög, Miles Davis and SYN:DROM. I’m not saying that these are direct inspirations for the music, but it certainly ended up being much more varied than the stuff I usually do.

"I wanted to go a bit deeper with the lyrics this time around. Writing lyrics has always been the hardest part for me. Earlier on I felt satisfied just writing about some clearly marked opinions I have on the state of the world. But this time I wanted to travel inside my own mind.” More...

Burn The Army Announces Debut EP

Indianapolis based post-metal band Burn The Army will release debut EP "The Tide to Sink the Summit" on October 21st, 2014. The following press release was issued about the band:

"Consisting of 4 blistering tracks, 'The Tide to Sink the Summit' will please fans of bands such as Isis, Converge and even Tool.

"Burn The Army was formed in Indianapolis In October of 2010. Corey Clark had approached longtime acquaintance, Jordan Smith, to start something a bit more interesting. Having bonded over similar interests in bands like Torche, Isis, and many others of the like, they began writing.

"Their first choice of drummer, a former bandmate of Clark, fell through only to welcome Dyllen Nance to the position. Nance, having partied the night before at the house where Clark and Smith were writing, stumbled in, introduced himself, and offered to fill the spot. The match was ideal. His technically-minded style melded perfectly with the riffs written by Clark and Smith.

"Shortly thereafter they would begin to write what would come to be their debut effort, The Tide To Sink The Summit. After four years of playing together, Burn The Army have developed a swirling, intense, post-metal, goodness. They have maintained a steady show schedule in Indianapolis, sharing the stage with the likes of Jucifer and Author and Punisher. Burn The Army continues to shape their ever-evolving style with efforts to release a full-length in the coming year."

Walking Dead On Broadway Signs With Impericon

Impericon Records has issued the following announcement about inking a new record deal with Walking Dead On Broadway:

"We at Impericon are very happy to announce with Walking Dead On Broadway our first own signing to our recently started label Impericon Records. After a great start with having handled the European album releases by Being As An Ocean and Capsize it is time to give a band from our direct surrounding a helping hand with their debut album release.

"The Broadway is known as the heart of the American theatre industry and is often used synonym for superior and critical entertainment. Walking Dead On Broadway pursue the idea of fierce and unbiased art. Brought to life in late 2009, the quintet focuses on vast deathcore-sounds and disenchanted lyrics.

"Following 2012's MCD 'Welcome To Corpse Wonderland,' 'Aeshma' marks the debut album of this quintet from Leipzig, Germany. In Iranian mythology Aeshma is the demon, which personates greed, murder, intoxication and anger. In the understanding of Walking Dead On Broadway it is a metaphor for suffering, malevolence and all the evil, mankind is causing.

"The lyrical theme presupposes extreme sounds and is the reason for the savagely development 'Aeshma' is taking. Walking Dead On Broadway introduce themselves with an album, that leaves no doubt about the despair and disgust the Germans feel about what mankind is doing. The songs are a reflection of today’s society and its tendency to destroy and to be at war. Keeping in mind the approach of superior and critical entertainment, Walking Dead On Broadway prove their ability to create complex, challenging deathcore sounds, that combine the technical 'requirements' of the style with well-balanced songwriting."

The "Aeshma" album is set to be released on the following dates:

October 31st, 2014 (digital world wide)
November 7th, 2014 (G/A/S, Sweden, Finland)
November 10th, 2014 (UK, Rest of Europe) More...

Ides Of Gemini Posts New Track Online

Los Angeles-based trio Ides Of Gemini will unveil the consuming sounds of "Old World New Wave" this Tuesday via Neurot Recordings.

In celebration of its imminent release, today Cvlt Nation offers up seventh track, "Fememorde," for public consumption. Check it out below.

Notes guitarist Jason Bennett of the hymn, "'Fememorde' is the first song that was written for Old World New Wave, and appears on the 'new wave' side of the album. In that sense, it was the impetus for the entire OWNW concept. It's a completely different kind of song for us -- probably because all the guitar parts were composed in my head rather than on an actual guitar. That hadn't happened before and hasn't happened since. So I'll chalk this one up to something like destiny."

Panzer Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast is thrilled to announce the signing of Teutonic heavy metal trio Panzer (not to be confused with the Brazilian band of the same name).

The new German supergroup is comprised of vocalist & bass-player Schmier, best known as fronter for Destruction, guitarist Herman Frank (Accept), as well as drummer Stefan Schwarzmann (Accept, Ex-Running Wild). “If you are a METALHEAD you will love PANZER, I am 100% sure about it,” vows Schmier.

To celebrate the nearing end of the year with a killer release, the first Panzer onslaught entitled "Send Them All To Hell" will roll down onto European soil on November 28th, 2014.

Commented vocalist Schmier: “When Stefan Schwarzmann, drummer of Accept and an old friend came to me with the idea of putting a band together, I first thought he tried to fool me… hahaha! But the idea sounded amazing from the beginning and after the first meeting with Herman Frank, the German guitar legend, that everybody knows from his work with Accept and Victory and Stefan, we realized really fast, that this team could really kick some serious ass together. And Instead of talking too long about it, we started writing songs right away and within some weeks had half of the album recorded and it sounded wicked! We don t wanna re-invent the metal-wheel. We play the music we love, easy as that and it’s great fun cause we all dig this shit since we are teenagers!"

Naming a band after fierce war machinery might seem a bit off for some, but if you take a look at the lyrics, this is picture perfect. The lyrics provoke, criticize, and are part of the art. “My lyrics criticize... I don't pray,” adds Schmier. More...

Nightwish Posts Fourth Album Trailer

Nightwish is currently working on a new album along with producer Tero “TeeCee” Kinnunen. The yet-untitled creation will be the first Nightwish studio record to feature Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen.

Longtime drummer Jukka Nevalainen will also sit out on the recording sessions due to health issues; while Kai Hahto (Wintersun, Swallow The Sun) will replace him. The album is set for a release in the Spring of 2015 via Nuclear Blast.

Today the band has put up a fourth album trailer, available below. The previously posted third clip is available at this location.

Commented drummer Jukka Nevalainen on the first actual band rehearsal: “You have to remember that the last time we played together was about 11 months ago. It’s been quite a while. So, all things considered out initial stabs were pretty OK.”

Added guitarist Emppu Vuorinen: “You start to get into the songs when you rehearse them. We played a heavier tune, and it did get me moshing a bit. I don’t know if it has something to do with age – but the need to show off has diminished even more. It’s more like you want to do justice to the song and not strut your stuff.” More...

Sourvein Signs With Metal Blade

The sludge/doom veterans in Sourvein have signed a deal with Metal Blade Records. The new partnership's first effort will be the release of the band's fourth full-length album, "Aquatic Occult" in 2015.

The album is scheduled to be recorded with Corrosion of Conformity's Mike Dean in early 2015 and will finally see its release later that year.

Sourvein main man Troy "T-Roy" Medlin was interviewed by friend and fellow musician, Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, who penned the band's new biography. The text will serve as an excellent introduction for the uninitiated. It's a recap of the past twenty years of the band, and a look towards a bright future for Sourvein.

Below is an excerpt from the biography, which includes comments on the signing and the upcoming album:

Over twenty long dues-paying years later, Sourvein has at long last found a proper home for their doom-laden Southern noise with underground stalwarts Metal Blade Records, and Medlin couldn't be happier. "Aquatic Occult," the band's first offering on the label, promises to be heavier than a two-ton anchor dropped into an antique porcelain bathtub-- it's going to break things. But getting here hasn't been easy.

"Finally, man. Finally," he says, shaking his head in disbelief as he reflects on the lengthy, grueling trek that brought his band to Metal Blade's roster.

Aborym Splits With Drummer

Electro-industrial metal titans Aborym have announced the addition of guitarist Giulio Moschini (Hour of Penance) to the group's ranks.

At the same time the band announces an amicable parting of the ways with drummer, Bard "Faust" Eithun, who has been with the group since 2005.

"After the Emperor gigs this summer it is my intention to calm down the band activities," comments Bard. "Basically because I have reached a point where it is difficult to combine being in a band with family and other commitments and I am slightly fed up 'being in a band' as such. Sadly this also involves Aborym so it is with a sad heart I have decided to leave the band with immediate effect.

"Next year I would have been a part of the band for 10 years and I appreciate the three albums we made together. However, it is time to leave the drum chair for someone who are actually able to provide the time and effort the band requires. I wish both Fabban and Paolo Pieri the best of luck with their future endeavours." More...

Soen Announces New Album

It's hard to put a handle on Soen, but if progressive music is "entertainment for those who are easily bored," then this Swedish outfit fits easily under that heading.

New album "Tellurian" is due out November 4th, 2014 and follows previous full-length "Cognitive" (reviewed here). The following press release was issued about the coming album:

"As the forthcoming second studio album Tellurian makes plain, Soen - that's drummer Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth, Amon Amarth), vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree), guitarist Joakim Platbarzdis and bassist Stefan Stenberg - is not concerned with the simple or the shallow; the musical journey takes an altogether more ambitious path, and the result is an expansive body of work, wrapped up in the stunning art of Mexican painter José Luis López Galván, that consistently challenges without being 'clever-clever' or tough to enjoy. It speaks of being and non-being and approaching via incubation and dreams the cross roads in the underworld where one can come to know and to be one’s 'otherness,' the shadow self, free within the “eternal now” outside of time and circumstance. The longing for this union is the heart of the melancholia, both gift and burden."
