Fan Arrested For Posting Exodus Lyrics On Facebook

According to Channel 14 News in Kentucky, a fan in Greenville has been arrested and is currently being jailed for alleged terrorism threats for posting the lyrics to the Exodus song "Class Dismissed," which appeared on the 2010 release "Exhibit B: The Human Condition." The full article on the arrest can be found at this location.

The band's press release reads: "Exodus does not promote or condone terrorists, threats or bullying. That being said, the band is somewhat baffled by the fact that this man being charged for what seems against his first amendment rights of Freedom of Speech."

“The idea that an individual in this great country of ours could be arrested for simply posting lyrics to a song is something I never believed could happen in a free society,” states Exodus guitarist Gary Holt. “James Evans was simply posting lyrics to a band he likes on Facebook, and he was locked up for it. The song ‘Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)’ was written as a view through the eyes of a madman and in no way endorses that kind of fucked up behavior. It was the Virginia Tech massacre perpetrated by Seung-Hui Cho that was the subject and inspiration to write the song, one in which we put the brakes on playing it live after the Sandy Hook shooting, as we did not want to seem insensitive.”

Gary continues, “As some of us in Exodus are parents, of course these things hit close to home, it's every parent's worst fear. These moments are the stuff of nightmares, and life, as well as music, isn't always pretty. But when we start to overreact to things like lyrics by any band, including Exodus, and start arresting people, we are caving in to paranoia and are well on our way to becoming an Orwellian society.”

Exodus is set to release the new album "Blood In, Blood Out" via Nuclear Blast on October 10th (EU), October 13th (UK) and October 14th (North America). More...

Execration Announces New Album Release

Today, Hells Headbangers sets December 9th as the North American release date for Execration's "Morbid Dimensions" (Duplicate Records will be handling the European release). Hells Headbangers also issued this press release:

"One of death metal's best-kept secrets, Norway's Execration trike with their deadliest and most daring album yet, Morbid Dimensions. Ever aptly titled, Morbid Dimensions is a twisting and twisted slab of miasmic, morbid Metal of Death. The listener is kept on edge the entire time, in a state of perpetual tension, as the quartet deftly slide through sinewy, sometimes-slimy riff and rhythm structures, all executed with stunning tightness yet also a sense of hysteric dangerousness.

"In many ways, Execration's third album is an album of contrasts: death metal in its purest state, but with a view toward experimentation; doomy and atmospheric at will, but with a forward propulsion that's palpitating; a well-grounded set of old-school influences, particularly homeland heroes Cadaver, but without the slightest whiff of 'retro' pandering. All told, Morbid Dimensions is the sound of a still young 'n' hungry band carving out their own niche, and with absolute cunning and confidence. A 'best-kept secret' no longer - behold the rise of Execration!"

The track listing is as follows:

1. Cosmic Mausoleum
2. Ritual Hypnosis
3. Doppelgangers
4. Morbid Dimensions
5. Tribulation Shackles
6. Vestiges
7. Ancient Tongue
8. Miasmal Sabbath
9. Funeral Procession More...

"...And Justice For Art" Book Cover Revealed

Our very own Ramón ‘Oscuro’ Martos just unveiled the cover artwork for his upcoming revelatory book "...And Justice For Art: Stories About Heavy Metal Album Covers."

This one-of-a-kind collection of stories recounts all the particulars behind the making of artwork as iconic as Slayer's "Reign In Blood," Morbid Angel's "Blessed Are The Sick," Metallica's "And Justice For All," Black Sabbath’s “13,” Death's "Symbolic," Carcass "Heartwork," Cormorant's "Dwellings,” Mayhem’s “Grand Declaration Of War,” Testament’s “Dark Roots Of Earth,” Opeth’s “Heritage” and many others.

These are told through 100 exclusive interviews with heavy music’s icons like Jeff Walker (Carcass), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Sepultura), Fenriz (Darkthrone), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Paul Masvidal (Cynic), Chris Adler (Lamb Of God), David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Travis Ryan (Cattle Decapitation) and more. In addition, it features plenty of revealing commentaries by illustrators such as Michael Whelan, Eliran Kantor, Dan Seagrave, Joe Petagno, Arik Roper and Travis Smith, just to name a few.

“Working on the And Justice for Art book was an amazing experience,” comments illustrator Vertebrae33 — who has previously collaborated with artists like Slayer, Slash, and Soundgarden. “Ramon Oscuro Martos has an unbridled love of Metal art as well as a tremendous amount of passion and vision for his project. As an illustrator, there is nothing better than a vision realized and the satisfaction of the client. I am excited to see Ramon's project come to fruition!”

Martos comments: “Today’s Metal scene is overflowed with illustrators and visual artists; however, just a few posses the ability to create distinctive images, rich in detail, colors, and conceptual depth... That’s the case with Vertebrae33. Since the very beginning he was able to understand that And Justice For Art’s cover needed to be iconic and conceptually related to both Metal and Arts. I believe this book will coherently provide fans with plenty of first-hand information regarding to the creation of many iconic Metal album covers. The artwork created by Vertebrae33 perfectly introduces the reader to that world where music and visuals become one.” More...

Internal Bleeding Posts New Lyric Video

As "Imperium," the first new album in more than a decade from institutional New York City-based death metal outfit Internal Bleeding is being prepared to see its official unveiling September 30th, a lyric video from the release is now viewable online.

Check out "The Pageantry of Savagery" below, thanks to Skulls N Bones. The third of nine horrendously destructive hymns harnessed by Internal Bleeding under direction of Joe Cincotta at Full Force Studio in NYC (Suffocation, Dehumanized, Mortal Decay), "The Pageantry Of Savagery" is an aptly destructive example of what the front-runners of the "slam movement" have conceived and delivered: an inexorable and enraged album that yields no mercy.

Reports Internal Bleeding vocalist Keith Devito on the song's basis, "'The Pageantry Of Savagery' is about a child who grows up with little or no parental nurturing and what results from this lack of human contact. His only sources of love and perception of reality are completely artificial: television, computer games, the perceived social pressures of school, etc.

"That's where the title comes from, because what he sees is a parade (or pageantry) of savagery. Consequently, he is alone and isolated from humanity. The thoughts that stream through his head as he develops into adulthood are violent, anti-social and downright ominous. He eventually turns these thoughts into action and embarks on a violent quest for his fifteen minutes of fame. Most of the lyrics in the song reflect both his thoughts and his actions. In short, 'Pageantry Of Savagery' is about the mental development of a sociopath." More...

Fallen Fate Recruits New Guitar Player

Fallen Fate has revealed new guitarist Rab Duffy, who joins after the departure of former member Piers Donno-Fuller.

According to a news story from Planet Mosh, vocalist & Guitarist Lee Skinner had this to say: “We took a bit of time away from the band after parting ways with Piers and really took our time with the audition process. We had some great interest but for a lot of guitarists, the distance between them and the bands base was too much of an issue.

"When we auditioned Rab, we all instantly felt a connection on a personal and musical level with him. He is a gifted guitarist and Im confident that he will bring a positive influence to the band. We are all now looking forward to the future and kicking ass when we tour next, support U.K. metal.” More...

Nesseria Posts New Song Online

A track has now premiered online from "Fractures," the forthcoming full-length by French grinding metallic hardcore outfit Nesseria. Give "Le Malheur Des Autres" a listen below.

This follow-up to 2009's self-titled debut was engineered and mixed at Drudenhaus Studio by Neb Xort (Aluk Todolo, Anorexia Nervosa) and mastered at New Alliance East (Converge, Gaza).

"Fractures" is due out November 15th via Throatruiner Records & Trendkill Recordings on 12" vinyl (CD on Trendkill/Grains Of Sand, tape on Swarm Of Nails). Throatruiner Records comments:

"It's been now ten years that Orleans, France's Nesseria deliver some of the meanest socially-charged grinding metallic hardcore out there. Marking the definitive takeover of bassist/vocalist Julien on vocal duties, their second full-length 'Fractures' shows the band at their most aggressive, combining hoarsely barked vocals with crushing, twisted riffs and pounding drums.

"Following 2009's self-titled debut and 2011's split LP with CTTTOAFF, these ten tracks were recorded on tape and mixed at Drudenhaus Studio (Aluk Todolo, Anorexia Nervosa) then mastered at New Alliance East (Converge, Gaza). This is the record of a band that walks hand-in-hand musically and lyrically: intense and pissed as hell, straightforward while staying away from easy paths. No gimmicks, no egos, no frills, and nothing to share besides their cold, hard views." More...

Sleep Of Monsters Releasing "Produces Reason"

Even though the Sleep Of Monsters debut album has so far been available in Finland only, the news that the Babylon Whores crooner Ike Vil has a new band has crept out of the country and circulated among those in the know.

Svart Records, having recently reissued the entire Babylon Whores back catalog on vinyl, is proud to offer the album for worldwide consumption. The label comments:

"Chock-full of radio-friendly yet still spine-tinglingly witty, snotty, and deathly melodic mélange of acidic rock, cadaverous crooning, and Pink Floyd-type siren choirs, Sleep of Monsters' Produces Reason is an album that many in Finland already considered one of the top debuts of last year.

"In a way, it’s no surprise, as these guys are no novices: vocalist and lyricist Ike Vil was the morose mastermind behind the lauded death rockers and occult rock pioneers Babylon Whores (with two subsequent Album of the Month' titles in Terrorizer magazine), guitarist and main songwriter Sami Hassinen was the guitarist of Blake (featured in Bam Margera’s Viva La Spring Break TV show), drummer Pätkä Rantala played on HIM’s million-selling debut, and keyboardist Janne Immonen has toured extensively with Waltari and Ajattara.

"The sound of Sleep of Monsters is completed by the guitar wizardry of Uula Korhonen and the thumping bass of Mäihä, who also handles backing vocals, and last but not least, on selected tracks, amplified by the witchy voices of their own 'Furies:' Hanna Wendelin, Nelli Saarikoski, and Tarja Leskinen.

"Recorded at EastSound Studios in Helsinki by producer Pekka 'Splendid' Laine (LAB, 45 Degree Woman), Produces Reason offers 10 sticky, sweetly bitter, and artfully accessible songs plus the previously unreleased bonus track 'I Am The Night Color Me Black.' More...

House Of Lightning Signs With Translation Loss

Translation Loss is extremely proud to announce the signing of House Of Lightning and the release of debut record "Lightworker." The label comments:

"Everyone at Translation Loss is beyond ecstatic to be able to work with Henry Wilson and his new band House Of Lightning, being huge fans of both Floor and Dove. House Of Lightning takes what Dove created to an entirely new level of mathy-proggy rock sensation.

"Proudly hailing from Winter Haven, Florida, they feature current and former members of Floor, Dove, and Cavity!

"After the death of Dove and before Floor's current resurrection, a new band was secretly growing, House Of Lightning's long awaited debut album does more than just pick up where Dove left off five years ago, they blast off out of the known universe and into a completely new and unknown dimension!

"The resurrection occurs on October 14th, 2014 in the form of a 10 song, 40-minute riff-rollercoaster entitled Lightworker.

"From the mad genius mind of Henry Wilson (Floor) comes and almost uncategorizable yet positively spiritual incorporation of heavy metal, thrash, bite of math, a sprinkle of prog, a pinch of 1984 and a dash of 5150. Sounds wild, you say? That's because IT IS! Lightworker is difficult to simply just pin a label onto; you are better off hearing this one for yourself. All aboard the rocket ship!"

The album was produced at Atomic Audio in Tampa, Florida by Mark Nikolich & Henry Wilson and can be pre-ordered at this location. More...

At Dusk To Release "Anhedonia"

Broken Limbs is happy to announce the release of At Dusk's debut full-length "Anhedonia" on cassette this coming October 14th.

At Dusk is a one-man black metal act from California masterminded by Korihor. Having spent the past few years releasing demos and splits, it is now finally time to unleash the full potential on a long player. The following press release was also issued:

"Gasped into being midst ocean fog and ancient pines in California's central coast, the plaintive and cathartic howlings of At Dusk was first revealed by Korihor in 2010. Strains raised in thanotic reverie, these are hymns to the ultimate, dark beauty found at the core of anguish: erected monuments in homage to the common individual sufferings of humankind. In the years that followed, At Dusk has issued forth a number of demos and collaborations, and even briefly saw expressions of its lamentations in the form of a live performing entity. The forthcoming epistle, Anhedonia, renders four odes on the varying aspects and embodiments of woe - and stands as the fullest, most realized statement of this art yet to be uttered.

"At Dusk seeks to uncloud eyes blinded to the nigh-universal suffering inflicted by the overarching systems of the 'modern,' civilized world - the alienation of bodies, minds, and souls and violent oppression in its many forms. This is not a celebration of pain, but a necessary acknowledgement. Yes, at times, one’s heart could break in sorrow. May these threnodies stand as a stark and winsome memento dolori to those who have ears to hear it." More...

Sanctuary Shoots New Music Video

Reactivated Seattle metal band Sanctuary recently filmed a video for the track "Frozen" with director Dirk Behlau.

"Frozen" (hopefully having nothing to do with the movie, since we've seen enough of that in metal already) is taken from the band's upcoming album, "The Year The Sun Died," which will be released on October 6th in Europe and on October 14th in North America via Century Media Records.

The video will make its online debut on September 23rd; photos from the shoot can be seen on Sanctuary's Facebook page.

Breathless Working On Second Album

Spanish thrash act Breathless just finished the recordings and mixing sessions for a second album. The cover artwork, track listing, and an advance track will be released shortly. Xtreem Music also comments:

"The album will be entitled 'Return to Pangea' and was recorded with Miguel A. Riutort 'Mega,' who also worked with Trallery on their magnificent debut.

"Since the release of the band's debut album 'Thrashumancy' in early 2011 also through Xtreem Music, Breathless have been playing shows all around Spain during 2011 & 2012 and it was in October of that year when they did split with bass player Javi and since it wasn't easy to find a replacement where they live (Mallorca island), they decided that Oscar 'Nazareno' would switch from guitar to bass and keeping it as a trio.

"There's no exact release date for 'Return to Pangea,' but it's expected before the end of the year. In the meantime, you can check the band's website and of course you can listen to their debut album in full (and buy it digital if you want) below." More...
