Chimaira Officially Disbanding

Band Photo: Chimaira (?)

Following the departure of guitarist Emil Werstler, and the rest of the band following suit, Mark Hunter has decided to lay Chimaira to rest. Here's the official announcement:

"After fifteen full blown ass ripping years, it is with great honor to announce the end of Chimaira.

"Thanks to everyone that supported the group in any way shape or form. Everyone involved with the band from members to fans put their heart and soul into this project.

"We achieved a lot. We bled a lot. It fucking ruled."

Presumably the band's appearance at 70,000 Tons of Metal and any other activity is cancelled. The band's final album (before the inevitable reunion down the road) was 2013's "Crown Of Phantoms."

I gotta admit, with all the line-up changes, my first thought was "It's about time."

However, I saw them in February and they did put on a strong high energy show. Good luck to the guys and their next respective projects.

Word is that mark is/can be hard to work with.

On the plus side, there's word of more Daath material coming out. This is always good news.

Well I'd hope Daath comes back strong. Cause it was almost all of Daath in Chimaira anyway. But yea, I half expected this within the next few years but it still felt out of nowhere since they put out that album, which I really enjoyed, and did some decent touring off it. They played a show on Long Island recently, apparently the last, and it was an intense show. Those Daath guys brought some good vibes and high energy like DJ said. One of my favorite bands, and I'm sad they're gone. I'll always spin their sh!t. Chimaira fan for life. It was a solid run. *tips hat
